  • @kutiwolf

You can start at any age. I actally started when i was 13 I'm 15 now and i am still doing it! I am so glad I did it. I had douts because i started to late but now i am about to start to compete and i am really happy i did it. Don't let your age stop you! Do what you want to do! Good luck!

  • Americans don't do Irish dancing right they completely messed it up :(

  • hey thats not very nice im american but i am more advanced than all of the people in my class

  • I was taken out of Irish dancing because I had no way of getting there I'm in Ireland and I an going to restart after simmer can't wait it's been 4 years

  • tutorial!! :)

  • >_< I live in Holland, so I can't take these lessons! It's so frustrating, because I really love this.

  • @Julialovesthebeatles Er zijn best een aantal ierse dansscholen in Nederland hoor! :)

  • I just started competing at 17 and am moving up quickly. There us no age limit

  • whats the bit at the end?? it looks interesting :) your grandchildren are great!!

  • i am 14 and i really want to start irish step dancing and ive never had any experience with danceing am i too old please please answer!

  • @map0605 Your really never too old! I started at 16!!! I really, really love it. I also know someone who started at 20, she's a open champion dancer now. If you really want to do it, then do it, don't let you age stop you. You can level fast if your dedacated!

  • I'm 15 and I started dancing at the age of 12 my advise is DO NOT WORRY ABOU THE AGE, the point here is dancing and having fun not see how old are you : ) good luck.

    Bella

  • I started at 25. I've been doing for almost two years now. I'm in an adult class at the Niall O'Leary School of Irish Dance in New York City.

  • I really want to do Irish dancing, I used to have a Michael Flatly Lord of the Dance video!

  • What were the names of any/ some of the song clips in this video? thanks!

  • oh guys i started dancing when i was 13 and i LOVE it your never to old to start:) it is quite difficult in the beginning if you dont know how to move your feet luckily i had danced before. just stay dedicated to it and before you know it you will be the one in Ireland holding a 1st place trophy for internationals:D

  • theres an irish dancing place near me and i think i might want to join....but ya i'm afraid of the age difference but who cares it's the dancing that counts have fun!

  • 15 old. r u kiddin. im 36 and im gonna start now.

  • I really want to learn irish dance, but I'm 16 now, and I've never learnt dancing...

can I still learn Irish dance?

  • @NatalieAviv I started at 16!! I also never learned dance either...it's sooo much fun. I find myself counting the days down for class. Don't let your age get in the way, it could be the biggest regret you'll make.

  • i want to starte irish dance, but i worry that im to old to start.... because i don't want to be the only 12 year older in a class with people that are 5 and 7......

  • @lexiejune101 i did that. I was the only thirteen year old in my class of seven year olds! I was mortified...for about three minutes. It is sooo worth it. Ive now been dancing for three years. Also, you'd be suprised how many people start dancing at a later age. my mom started when she was 36! and shes been dancing just as long as i have XD

  • @lexiejune101 I started at 16 and I'm in a class with little kids, and my brother (11) is the only boy in there too, but we love it. I'm not really bothered by having kid 4+ years younger then me. And also, there's kid starting out at all ages all the time. So don't sweat about it, it's worth learning how to irish dance :) If you have any question about Irish dance, I would be happy to answer then!!!

  • @SweetEdelweiss09 I'm going to take you up on that offer of answering questions! I'm a 13 year old girl and I live in England (half irish though :) ) and I really want to learn how to step dance!! Am I too old to start learning?? Do I need to buy dance shoes and outfits and stuff as well?? How often do I need to practise? It looks SO fun to learn!!

  • @TheEnglishWonder Hey! You are not too old. A lot of people start out young but don't compete until they are older. So right now is a good age. Since you are older it will be easier for you to comprehend the steps then the little ones. You don't need to buy dance shoes right away when you start dancing. People in my class who don't have dance shoes just wear socks. As for outfits...I'm not for sure what you mean? Do you mean dresses? Then no. once you joing a school they will have school dress.

  • @TheEnglishWonder You don't need to buy any costumes! The Solo dresses are for the higher level girls. Each school has their own rules. I would recomend looking for a school. Some school may have age limits others don't. You may even be put in a adult class, but unlikely. Once you join a school they will tell you what you may need. As for practice, as much as you like. I make my brother do each dance twice a day to music. I hope you start Irish dance! It's SOOOO much fun. You will LOVE it! :D

  • i'd have them work on there arches...alot

  • I was just watching this video and I noticed that the girls didn't point their feet--I think they can work on that. I know that most of them are very young, but I was surprised to see the older girl not pointing her feet.

  • I started at 15! you're never too old or too young to start!

  • I really wish that someone could teach me that...

  • ive always wanted to learn irish step dancing and i still do but can you join irish step dancing at 13 years old?

  • That's a perfect age....

  • @bartemus11

And what about 18 and in college? (when I have free time, of course!)

  • @missbeatrix1 once or twice a week is good and if you really try you should be able to be put in a class with like 13 year old (Who are surprisingly good:) they may move you up through classes faster than usual if your catching on

  • @bartemus11 Id love to learn it as well as Im a great fan of irish dance but in the countryside of Germany the chances of finding someone to teach me are zero :(

  • @bartemus11 i'm 14. is it still too late? i know its only another year, but sometimes that makes a difference. and im a guy, if that changes anything.

  • Heck I started dancing when I was 19. You're never too old.

  • yea, i have friends who have.

Really, as long as you dedicated.

  • No, you're not too old! If you practice hard enough, you can definitely catch up quickly!

I'm 11 years old and I just started, there are girls who are 12 that I'm dancing with in my beginners' class!

Have you ever heard of Jean Butler? She was the original female lead of the show "Riverdance", she's AMAZING and she started Irish dance when she was 23!

You're definitely not too old :)

  • @kutiewolf

Yes you can join at 13. I joined a class at 25. LOL I've been doing it for two years now. I'm in an adult class at the Niall O'Leary School of Irish Dance in New York City. Its the best thing that ever happened to me. Its great fun.

  • @kutiewolf I started at 13 :)

  • yeah u can because i joined at 12 and im thirteen right now

  • its great that you teach them!

just want to offer a few tips to the girls: cross over, get higher on the toes, and point

  • i irish step dance

  • great

    me too

  • kool do u go 2 catholic skool i do thts where i go 4 my irish step dance

  • yea i go to a Catholic school but i take my dancing lessons at an irish dancing school

  • do you know the difference between split soles and full soles and what is better to dance on.

  • split gives a better point

  • Thank God Irish culture is being passed on. What's the name of the first song?

  • Great! I'm taking Irish Dance this year. Looking forward to it! It looks easy at this stage...does it get harder as you progress? Or do you get used to it as you get better?

  • Irish dance is pretty simple in the beginning, as you move through the levels it will gradually get harder because you combine old moves with new ones and it takes a while to get used to. It takes a lot of practice to get used to everything. You'll start noticing a difference probably around novice.

  • i'm going to be taking lessons again- it gets easier with practice, but when you get to the hard shoes, it takes a little bit longer to get the gist of it...

  • i remember when i was just starting too...

    aww very good times..

  • i rember when i was just starting aww good times

  • yh i wanna know if she teaches teens aswell and where plz?

  • My 6 year old wants step dancing lessons and this is the only video I've found that would give her a clue what it would be like. Thanks for posting! Your grandkids are great!

  • has she started yet?

  • I just came back to this video two years later! My daughter has been taking lessons for over 1.5 years now. I recognize a lot of these steps now. She just moved up to Novice in jig. Thanks for helping us get started.

  • oh wow!!! thats amazing!! you have a lot of grandchildren!
