  • Piercing weapons ftw

  • this RPG is just fantastic

  • This vid saved my day. I was looking for HoM or Diablo-like game for linux. And I have only found a bunch of student-quality games. You know, the ones that dont even compile.

And looking at Ghornon's Hammer, when (typical for opensource) all-in-one author tries to scratch everything (I build ma hous all ba myself in 100 years-style) and not start until he has detailed designs!- and he screwed in 2005.

But now. I didnt realise commercial can be so crappy too. Or maybe its just me. Sorry then.

  • A bit of newer graphics wouldn't hurt , I know its a great game , but the graphics look very SNES.

  • @Galavya41 people who play these types of games are not for graphics, this is the old school RPG game, back when these types of games were played by fans from the 90's...we grew up without caring about graphics, the new generation is to focused on main stream video games and cares to much about how everything looks. just enjoy the gameplay.

  • @DarkHour404 Thanks for your reply , I know what you mean , all I was trying to say was that the graphics could be updated from the current SNES style to maybe Baldur's Gate level , thats all , even then it would still feel like classic RPG . I also agree that RPG fans are being left out by game companies , they focus all their attention to 'How the game looks' instead of 'How the game plays ' .Newer games like DAO,& Gothic4 are nowhere near in complexity and sheer gameplay fun to older games

  • @DarkHour404 One more thing...all graphic elements need not change for eg. the character animation and particle effects are very good its just the background and environment which looks early console type .

  • Why the fuck wouldnt they make this multiplayer? this is the game ive been looking for

  • Just bought the game today and it's amazing. There's so many things to do, and so much depth. Everyone should pick this up, or at least give the free demo a try. You'll be hooked within the first 10 minutes guaranteed. More games should be made like this. Im tired of all the 3D first person shooters, etc.

  • just think of how much money the developers lost by not making this game widescreen

  • @Nizm0350z A sale or two. If that. Probably no money lost.

  • @Upup2211 well i have a 24" monitor and I would have already bought it if i didn't have to play in a small window

  • @Nizm0350z I don't think they are worried selling the game to people who have to have widescreen for every game. Also you know you can set your pc up to keep the ratio so you can play it fullscreen with just black on the edges.

  • This is a great game

  • @aversion2k: This is the first game after many years where i didn`t turn off the music (i didn`t had the intention to look for the possibility). Also i turned the TV off.

The last game where i was so carried away was Divine Divinity (the first one), which also had a gloomy but awesome atmosphere.

  • OK, this game is an really good old style RPG, which reminds of the good old days of the Ultima series. The graphics are good and the mood is great and catchy. The music is really great and brings more into the mood.

For me i can recommend this single player game. It`s not a clone and has it`s own style. Try it out, you will not regret it.

  • I played now for 1 hour and 30 minutes and there is night now. I lightened my torch, because i`m in the woods and try to come better to a town. You know it`s a bit gloomy in the woods at night. The bad thing, it has begun to rain and my torch isn`t much worth and the wolves are hunting me, so yes, i am in fear hahaha.

  • OK, here my review: The game itself begins with a good intro. After i saw it i began to start game, here you can create your character and there is a lot to choose. The graphics a wonderful for the game. It´s simple but the details are in the little. It doesn`t take long to get behind the menus and controlling. All is simple but has it`s pragmatic effects.

  • Looks kinda of old fashion' of a style, but still quit good actually.

  • The game that made me love old school rpg..

  • wheen omg wheen? how long do I still have to wait???

  • @yamaotoko

    Windows : release on May 12th, 2010

    Linux, Mac : May 26th, 2010

See Basilisk forum for more details...

  • so far behind schedule but im so ready

  • Suppose to be out last year....tired of waiting

  • HOORAY! I almost cried.

    It looks amazing.

  • i realised whats the point of wanting to see a video game before it comes out? it kinda ruins it i would just want to wait now that i think about it o well

  • biblical.

  • @rolandspify

I think you mean "epic" biblical would mean it was full of bible storys or based on the bible in some sense.

    Anyway.

I just hope there is an option to turn off the music this time, I like to play it windowed while doing other stuff and the only way I could figure out how to do it was to replace the music files with dummy files.

  • i hope this time more side quest longer main story and a larger spell book for divine and elemental

  • I think you got you're wish, notice the spell screen at 0:54. At least 8 level one spells, 2 of which are new. Dense nimbus, draw water

  • Summon Beast 0:23

  • looks fantastic :) i hope it will be as good as book 1 was...no, maybe even better...can't wait for this =)

  • Um. That looks like the exact same game as 1 except with a slightly smaller view screen to make room for a bigger minimap (???) and an ugly and distracting bar of buttons. Wtf?

Sorry but at least as far as the interface is concerned, this is a big step backwards.

  • It's not all about the interface. There are huge improvements in game-play mechanics, achievements, balancing, classes, customization, and quest consequences. The interface can stay the same for all I care

  • Basilisk Games, you nasty teases - now I'm going to be on pins and needles until the Book II release!

    Very nice trailer.

  • i am waiting for this game sooo badly. it drives me insane o.o release it already damn!

  • Nice one guys! Looking great, good to see isometric rpg's are still in development. Takes me back :)

  • I enjoyed book one so much, looking forward for second part :)

  • hurrah ! now hurry and release it, it looks like a masterpiece already ! :)

  • holy heck. i thought you guys were a small shop? This trailer is unreal. Great video production work. Can't wait for the game!

  • I love this game too, but seriously now, i could've made this video.

  • Ok, WilltheGamer, you're right. But it's an OLDSCHOOL RPG game, so, everyone, who wants to feel "the old times", loved it. If you don't like it, try to something new - you have plenty of possibilities.

Sorry for my bad english :)

  • So you're saying because I don't think this game is going to be interesting in anyway that I am a homosexual, and because I am a homosexual I should kill myself.

Your argument must have taken incredible foresight and genius to come up with and I applaud you.

  • Indeed. But he's making *money* off it. I've brought Book I, and when I can afford it Book II.

Are you making money off anything?

  • Enough of the fighting and biting, boys. Just because you don't like what someone says, doesn't give you the right to say vicious things. What Will said earlier did not justify calling him a "faggot" no matter WHAT definition you use.

Will, if you don't like turn-based RPGs then why are you here?

As for me, most of the action RPG's bore the heck out of me. The only three RPG's to date that I have enjoyed for years without discarding are Mordor I, Demise (Mordor's sequel) and Eschalon Book I.

  • Awesome. Can't wait for this.

  • This is really nice. Love the lighting effect.

  • Brilliant, cannot wait!

  • No, It's turn based, the only way to go for a true RPG.

  • "FF7"

    Stopped reading thar.

  • Don't like ff7 eh?

  • Is the battle system real time?

  • Loved Book I, can't wait for Book II. Hurry up!!

  • Awesome, can't wait!

  • great stuff guys, keep it up!

  • @iamdeathmarine

    I seriously doubt it.

  • Mass Effect 2 has an IMMENSELY BIGGER budget and development team... It's just a matter of comparing indie and "fully commercial" games... Also, remember this: Action RPGs aren't true RPGs.

    Good day.

  • uh yeah dude action rpgs are true rpgs, the only thing different is the combat is usually funner in action rpgs(more intense) if done right.

and you are totally right about ME 2 budget, i wonder what kind of game these guys would make with ME 2's budget.

  • Freaking f***ing awesome :) Can't wait y'guys. Take your time though, want it to be flawless :p

  • Awesome. I'm going to have to take a holiday just to play this game!

  • Very nice trailer! Awesome Music BTW. What is it? Also, Let me encourage all of my fellow Linux users out there to show their appreciation for this developer releasing a native Linux version. Download the trial (when it's released) and if you like it, buy it. At the very least, voice your appreciation here. Thanks!

  • LOVE IT!!!

  • old school RPG - cant wait!

  • Best teaser I've seen in a while.

  • wow great day to be a mac gamer 10stars

  • This looks fantastic. Can't wait to play it!

  • Wow. Very impressive! Can't wait for the release!

  • Fantastic! It's hard to wait for the release of Book II now.

  • Looking good guys!

  • Wow, I've been lurking on the BG site for a while now following development of this game, and I've been absolutely hungering for a trailer to Book II. I haven't played the original, but now I am absolutely dying to buy this one! Very nicely done! =)
