  • Thanks for this great tutorial, Cenay!

  • @manueldesantiago So welcome. Glad you like it.

  • Excellent video! Thank you for sharing. This clears up a lot of confusion for me.

  • @CenayNailor Excellent video and thanks for uploading. Just a quick question... How do I make it so I choose the title and description that Google use in the SERP? It seems to have self generated a description from a random part of my WP website and uses an old title which I changed in Head Space 2?

  • Thanks for sharing this huge list of your video tutorial. I have been trying to learning seo but i couldn't learn yet. but your tutorial are very helpful for me and otter thanks again

  • I have done everything in this tutorial EXCEPT replacing the code because I can't find it for my template. Please advise.

  • Where do you need to click in order to show the meta description - you can't see this as the video has been cut off.

  • It's not often that I watch a video from start to finish--but this one was so very worth it.!!!

  • EXCELLENT info and details.... Thanks for sharing it

  • Awesome video. Thanks very much for uploading!

  • @kevinbrewerj You are most welcome!

  • Which script exactly? The wp_title one? This does have to be exactly as I explained it below. Headspace2 hooks into the built in Wordpress title feature and uses a known value (the true after the comma) to allow insertions.

  • I have most of the Head Space done in settings, but my script looks different (I have WP 3.0) should I change that script as well, or is it not necessary for 3.0? I have noticed that most instances need less HTML script changes than earlier versions of WP. Thanks again Cenay.

  • @renroh1231 So happy to help you understand Headspace2 better. Let me know if I can help further.

  • Just sorry I didn't do it right in the first place. Understand, this is probably my 5th video on Headspace2 so I probably glossed over some things that I covered more fully in another video.

You can see them all by searching videos {dot} bycenay {dot} com -- hope they help.

  • Wow! First you are nice enough to post your very informative videos, and then you actually reply to frustrated non-techy (frustrated because I am non-techy) people like myself. Thank you so very much for your time and effort!

  • you rush through some crucial points... I fear I may have f'ed up my header... should have by-passed your instruction there. You explained the HTML code in the header without detailed instruction on the exact characters.........

  • @renroh1231 Is there something I can help you understand better? If it's the wp_title, let me define each character. < (less than) ? question mark php is the opening tag. Then a space, then wp_title -- followed by a ( (open paran) and two single quotes '' (no spaces between them). After the quotes, a comma ( , ) and then the word true. Case is important, all lower case. Then close the paran ) and add a semi colon ; and close the php tag with ? and < (less than)

  • you jump too quickly at times (i.e. the Header changing could have been much better if you had actually stated the exact characters, including spaces). I am concerned that I screwed something up--maybe not, but the confidence is not riding too high. I kinda wish I never changed it.

  • I'll give that a shot. Thanks for the quick reply. Is there a way I know that it's my ip causing this and not someone actually trying to hack in? I put the IP in the url and it asked for a username and password. I pretty much assumed it was the effect of the changes I made because of the timing.

    Cheers.

  • Hi Cenay, I just added Headspace2 and was following your directions and when I updated my header my wordpress firewall plugin sent me a message too long to include here, but here is the beginning of it:

WordPress Firewall 2 has detected and blocked a potential attack!

Warning: URL may contain dangerous content!

    offending IP - 66.27.203.153

then there is a whole load of scripting/HTML underneath it which I can send to you if you want. Too much for me to understand. Thoughts?

  • @Laydbaque Actually, I get that a lot myself. It's normal. One thing I do is ensure my IP address is whitelisted in the Firewall settings. Mine changes every time I reboot so this is a hassle, but it keeps the hackers out of my dashboard.

I wouldn't worry, unless it won't let you save. If that's the case, open another tab to the Firewall, ensure your IP is listed, then go back and save again.

  • Cenay, do you have a video for updating WordPress 3.1 from ftp? All of the ones I found are from 2008 and older and I'm having some issues with updating from the dashboard...Thanks for this!

  • @MsIleaneSpeaks Yes, in fact I do at videos.bycenay.com/blogging/wordpress/upgrade-wordpress-version/ -- yes, it's an older version, but the manual concept is exactly the same.

Please note, do NOT use this video if you installed with Fantastico.

  • I viewed the meta tags using SearchStatus for Firefox. It's an add on and I love the features it adds to my Firefox browser. Just Google SearchStatus firefox addon to locate that.

  • Great video. I'm still confused about all the %%tag%% stuff and words and where to use them for which page. Also, you viewed tags (or catagories or searchphrase or whatever) on that particular website. How did you view those?

  • Outstanding walk-through!!!

I'm totally new to HS, and you made this easy and comprehensible. I'm looking very forward to watching and learning more from you.

Thank you for providing this for the WP community.

  • Thanks Carol. Not exactly sure how or why my account was upgraded, but I am certainly not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, especially when so many of the video's I create are way more than 10 minutes.

Not sure if I will move all the videos from my site to hear, but this opens up possibilities for a lot more.

  • You rock, Cenay. About time you got rewarded for all your great videos. HooRah! I now use Headspace 2 on all my blogs. Thanks to you. :0)

  • Appreciate your feedback Bill, and so glad that Headspace2 has lived up to my *hype*.

  • Congratulations to you. I thought it was 10 minutes for everyone. Quite an honor. Being a former student of yours I wanted to let everyone know that the majority of my posts open on Page 1 when I use Headspace 2. I would never be without it. Thank you so much for your help in getting it installed and setup. Also, I would like to recommend that anyone seeking to maximize their blog needs to contact you for help and instruction. All the best.
