  • i bought this computer and it's great but the only problem was that it only has 2 hours of battery life

  • He just said it,they made the netbook/mini for kids.

  • this is a good video. i was thinking of buying one but i was on the fence and now you have sent me off the fence im going to buy one!!. thanks!!!

  • it was available today when i checked dell's site. aug5 09

  • I think it will handle Crysis on very high....

  • I have a question. How much this laptop?

  • It is no longer available. I recommend HP Mini 1000 Mi, with ubuntu, for $279.

  • It is no longer available. The mini 10 starts at $299, but is different in that it does not have a SSD, and has a bit bigger screen.

  • the dell mini 9 is the perfect netbook for hacking if you want to install mac os x on it. almost everything will work, and it's easy to set up. i would pick this up if i had an extra 300 dollars.

honestly, i like this more than the macbook air. it's cheaper, and it's better. the air is ridiculously lacking ports, and it's too expensive and big. think of the dell 9 as a true apple netbook.

search on the net if you want to see how to install leopard on this thing.

  • Got one. I love it. Mr Dell should learn english. His jargonese reminds me of my boss.

  • is it good for gaming???????

  • Look at it's size...not so great for gaming

  • I dont think that would work to well...

  • I got this for my birthday and its awesome! i make like all my videos on it =)

  • How much was this? How much do you have to pay to get one with the webcam?

  • well you can custimize it if you get the 299 dollar one the webcam cost when you custimize is about $20-$15 or so really CHEAP! i baught one and cant wait till it comes

  • Damn he make it seem like the shyt! lol

i got this as a gift, its pretty cool for the price

  • no, you have to buy a external cd/dvd drive

  • This would make a fantastic travel laptop.

  • it's like 250$

  • really where?

  • no, because u dont really need cd anymore. everything is compressed. u use memory card...to save file or upload file

  • how much is it?? Why didnt he say the price

  • good review

  • How much is it

  • Excellent review.

  • why doesnt have an optical drive?

  • Does the computer come with Word, Power Point, Excel...

If not can i download Microsoft Office 03 or 07 on it

  • The linux one comes with OpenOffice, the XP one does not.

  • Comment removed

  • Also stopped 1/3 in, skipped through too much marketing rubbish, god this guy loves the sound of his monotone voice...

He also said on-the-go about a hundred times!

  • why are we in this current trend where everything has to get small? i like my large lightweight laptop with the big screen... this ones too small, enjoy my small cellphone but the new mp3 players are too small for my fingers. trying to sell this cuz its new small and cool is a lame target to aim for. i have no desire to buy this

  • What a big bore!

Guy goes on and on without showing a close up of the screen....who want to see his face reading some crap written by somebody? DOnt people realize they are such bores......I wont buy this computer because it cant be good, if the video was so badly and thoughlessly done!

    Dell sells cheap crap anyways....

  • ever consider that people watching this want to see what they are buying, and know the details of the product.

they don't want to see his face...

  • how much does it cost to have wireless internet on the go?

  • Hey, I've been looking at this netbook for a while for my teens birthday. Does it come with Microsoft Office because that i the most important thing to my child right now. He lkes to write and other things. So does this come with word. If not how much will it cost.

  • get him a REAL laptop, this one is too cheap and very impractical for any real use.

  • my cousin has the hp one.

    is the hp one better?

  • Stopped watching at about a 1/3 of the review. Guy just keeps going, without showing the product.

Hey! Dude! It's a *video*. You make it like you're at a radio show!

  • can you take it on the airoplane

  • i'm happier with my macbook.

    dell sucks ass.

  • I love dell. I own one.

but this review is so lame.

    he doesn´t make it

  • does it have a built in mic for the video chat?

  • If it doesn't it should. Those pickups they've put in the full-size Inspiron and XPS laptops are so tiny...all it would be (in the mini screen) is just a few more hair-thin wires to put in. My guess is the ones that have the integrated cameras include a mic.

  • Yes i just got the dell mini 9 a few days ago and i take it everywhere. its fantastic...and it looks good, not hot (the HP mini looks hot) but HP was just too expensive..

  • I just won one of these netbooks! w00t!

  • How?

  • Dell is awesome!

  • PCs rock!

  • i am getting this very soon. but i do agree with some of you. macs are much better than PC's. but the new mac mini's are like 550 dollers or something.

  • i have that laptop im useing it right now

  • is there a disk drive?

  • no it doesnt come with a disk drive but when your ordering one you have the option to place a disk drive in for additional money. i believe its about 80 dollers for dvd and cd. but just for dvd its around 20

  • My ubuntu doesn't look like that... i think yours looks pretty cool... what makes it different?

  • I did hours of research on netbooks and I decided on this one. People don't usually mention what makes this thing great. It's one of the lightest netbooks. It has one of the best track pads & left-right click arrangements. It is completely solid state. It has no fan so it's completely silent. I think it is a great union of portability and functionality. It is also easy to mod. The one bad thing is the size of the screen. They could have put a 10" screen in the same size case...probably coming.

  • MACS RULE

  • i completely agree. PC's suck in every way compared to a mac.  mac user for life!

  • i agree but you can put OS X on the mini 9 with everything working... macs r00l... im thinking about getting one to have a little hackintosh

  • ONLY MACS ARE NOT PC. MACS RULE

  • learn to use your netbook

its not a workhorse. no one

    else has those problems

  • So I just got my mini9. It has bluetooth and I would like to use my 50 inch lcd tv in my livingroom as a monitor as I sit on my couch surfing the web. Can I do this wirelessly without a patchcord??? If so, what do I need to do???

  • You need HD15 VGA patch cable. No wireless video connectivity as of yet.

  • I wish he's say "on the go" more.

  • witch is better mini9 or acer aspire one?

  • I've personally had bad experiences with acer computers. Dell in my opinion is more reliable than Acer. Plus customer support is much less painful working with Dell.

  • One of the advantages of the AAO is you can get the 6 cell battery which lasts almost 6 hours. The Dell Mini 9 lasts almost 4 hours. Dell is cheaper though.

  • got it 2 months ago, now the ssd hd is screwed, with bad sectors... will dell ship me a new 16 gb ssd? because of the warranty????

    i mean wtf ???!!??

  • I bought 2 of those. They will arrive next Tuesday!

    Soo damn happpppy.

If you are interested and would like to buy it from Dell website.

Be aware that shippment takes 15 Days!

  • This computer is a low quality piece of GARBAGE!

I have had it for one month:

    - blue screen of death on day 1

    - have reinstalled windows 3 TIMES

    - have already had to replace the hard drive

    - with the new hard drive its slower than before for some reason

    - the sound is messed up now too..and i have reinstalled the sound driver like 3 times..doesnt solve the problem

    DO NOT BUY!!! TERRIBLE QUALITY!

  • man shut up. you got windows so thats ur first problem. linux all the way nigga. and more than likely you probably overworked the shit outta the mini 9.

  • asus Eee Pc 901/904 HD is Better! and Cheaper!

  • Actually, the 901 is $430, while the Mini 9 is $350. I personally like the Mini's screen and keyboard better, too.

  • dont buy a DELL because of its name..!!!

ur best bet is ac ACER ASPIRE ONE 9" screen /6 cell battery (5hours)/1 gigram/160gig hardrive for $399

    or

Samsung nc10 10" screen /6 cell battery (5hours)/1 gigram (2 gig upgradable EZ access slot) /160gig hardrive for $499

these r the best ones out there for ur money...

  • Should i get a Dell mini 9 or a Dell Inspiron 1525 ? I currently have a Apple G3 mac

  • im so exited i know it's still early, i bouth mine friday but how long did it took yours to arrive?? im going crazy!

  • Cant wait till i get mine; I need a labtop

  • Mine will be here tomorrow. I'm so happy. AT LAST.

  • kinda small for me but a goood price ill maybe buy one.

  • My dad just got one for work, it runs xp and has 2 gb of ram. he also bought a 32gb jump drive and soldered it into the board so now it has 48gb memory, all solid state! it is really sick!

  • oh nice, i wish all of us could tweak pcs like that.

  • awesomeee. :)

  • Its a netbook not a laptop its not supposed to play games like that.

  • dell mini notebook will not play games, i bet you anything (Unreal Tournament 3, Counter Strike Source, Half Life series, WoW)

  • I would hope most people would understand that it was never meant for playing games.

  • oh just 'cause your no fun!

  • i'm getting one !!!!! yipee!

  • The dell mini is way behind compare to Acer One Aspire which the new version will come out end of OCT with 160 gig and 6 cell battery...Dell needs to play catch up...but then Dell Fans buy Dell it for their looks like Mac hans.

  • got the linux version now! LOTS of things ship broken, but I've managed to fix them all but WiFi and cups...

  • This guy is the reason why nobody thinks of Dell as a cool brand, you have a very nice netbook, a cool product and.....BAM! you put this guy on video to introduce it to the world and right away everybody thinks of the computer as boring. Please Dell rethink your product placement strategy because young people will buy this product but if you keep using "im PC" guy on this videos you will loose many clients. (nothing personal against this poor personallityless guy he is just doing as told)

  • I didn't realize that "cool"-ness was a requirement in a computer.

  • oh my god ¿are you really that stupid? no, you cant be, you must be joking

  • piiiiiiiiiiiiiiitttttstttttttiiiiiiiiicccck!!!

ok im sorry just had to :D

  • that looks perfect for me :D

  • So how do you install programs in this? like MS Office? i guess need to buy the external cd/ dvd rom ehh?

  • yeah. the drive is optional, but if you're gonna be using ms office, you'll need it.

  • Yep!

  • I got question? Can you put a regular hard drive 100gb 2.5" on this laptop?

  • no, you can´t sorry.

  • what happened to the mini 9 on the australian site?? it disappeared last night

  • Ive got one in Black and XP home, its pretty good. It can be slow though sometimes cos it runs on Intel atom. im gettin a 250Gb hard drive 4 it from freecom so it will be much better then. and btw you can download Itunes on it.

  • will vista work on this?

  • You cant get it in Vista

  • I didn't see that option available. Also, the RAM might not be enought to run Vista on it

  • Hi, nice laptop. Will there be more colour choice then black and white? And when will it come out in Singapore?

  • i think for now all they have is black and white. i ended up ordering the black one.

  • could i download itunes on it?

  • You don't need itunes with the linux version. It's player automatically syncs or is compatiable with the ipod. But yes itunes will work on the windows verions.

  • does linux suck compared with windows xp?

    whats the difference??

  • I heard it does suck, but my friend has one of those teeny pcs and linux doesn't suck for him.

  • Hi it look really nice to me but i like like to know how much it cost and where can i fine one?

  • check out dell. com/mini

  • i wish dell employees weere more emphatic and persuasive!

    they are so boring.

  • I don't know if I really would need this... It'd be ideal for school which I started today. I already am going to take my Dell XPS M1530 with me. It's pretty bulky for school, but the fact that I can play games like Call of Duty and Halo 2 while on a break is fantastic. But it would be nice for a device that can get internet even without a Wifi hotspot... I'm very interested...

  • "Although we anticipated being able to ship your order sooner, we are experiencing an unexpected delay and have adjusted the estimated ship date as reflected below (see Revised Estimated Ship Date). We value your business and appreciate your patience."

OK, how many people just got this???

  • Ordered mine on Sept. 8, and continues to get pushed back. New date is Nov. 6. Rumor is that there is a problem w/ how slow XP runs on this processor. If you purchased it w/ Linux - it ships.

  • I like this, Does the mini have Microsoft Words ? -Thnx reply!

  • yeah, dell made the option of windows xp.

  • yes, if you want microsoft office programs, you'll have to get a cd/dvd drive installed (it's optional) which will cost a bit more.

  • yea? or you could go on piratebay and get Office for free ninety-nine...

  • Can you install Microsoft Words? If not there's not use for me on it. It haS the same GB that my Ipod and do the same things so, why is it better besides being bigger and with a keyboard?

  • ...why don:t you show the size of the external PSU? No reviews seem to show it, or even mention it. Having a huge PSU to lug around somehow misses the point of a mini laptop...the one for the EeePC is tiny, so going by the fact that it:s not mentioned here i:m assuming it:s an almighty brick!

Hope you don:t do an Apple-style censorship job on my posting Dell!

  • It's pretty small. Check out the independent video review "dell Inspiron Mini 9 Hands-on" from "Laptopmag" You'll find it in the related videos on the right side of this page

    Or here:

    watch?v=5M37j5BnERw

Which shows a good shot of the ac adapter at :48

  • Can you play World of Warcraft on it?

    Is it laggy?

  • love dell might get one

  • I'm buying a dell mini 9 but.....

    1. 8 gb these days is nothing, 16gb would be extra charge.

    2. the AC adapter is like $75 which i think is expensive, why do you include it as an "accesorie" lol are you serious?

    3. whats up with the expensive external cd/dvd drive(burner maybe?)

    4. A full featured mini 9 would cost $600(including taxes/shipping), and not including extra stuff like wireless mouses etc..)

    5. If i buy the windows version I expect a copy of Microsoft Windows which i paid for?

  • The video doesn't show the date of the recording. I believe that it was taken before it was even named 'Mini 9'. Is it just me, or does Brian not say the name 'Mini 9' at all? Only 'Inspiron Mini' at the very beginning, 00:14. I'm not picky, but he constantly calls 'Mini 9' the following names: it, device, secondary device, platform, mobile system, product. Just pay attention to it.

Also, not a big deal, but he doesn't even look directly into the camera.

  • You're probably right. It's sometimes also called the Inspiron 910. I only mentioned this because I saw a Dell rep showing off rugged laptops to our state transportation cabinet and the sales-speak was the same. I'm not picky - it just amuses me. :)

  • First off, I'm really excited about the Mini 9, especially with the customized Ubuntu netbook remix on it. I just wanted to say that I've listened to Dell's marketing people, and it is amusing how many times you guys use the word "product" when describing something. It's like they give you a "rules for demonstrating products" manual, and page 1 says "always refer to the product as 'product.' Do not call it a laptop, netbook or refer to it by it's product name." :)

  • We try as much as possible to break them of that habit...

  • How many USB ports?

  • I think 3, im not sure .

  • Total: 3

2 on the left, 1 on the right.

  • Why can't I get Ubuntu on the top spec version?

  • Install it yourself? It's not like Ubuntu isn't free.

  • I was planning to purchase one & I've visited Dell's website to customize it.

I've chosen the highest configuration of everything & with Ubuntu as OS.

  • will wow run on this ? please reply

  • No. You might look into our XPS line of gaming notebooks if you are interested in running WOW.

  • will wow play on this machine? please reply

  • Instead of leading users to the BEST of the internet... It leads them to WHOEVER PAID DELL THE MOST MONEY.

  • I hate that Dell installs software as a front-end which directs users to WHOEVER PAID DELL THE MOST MONEY...

  • the shift key is absolute shit, it all comes down to the keyboard people, simple buy the acer aspire one 8gb hard drvie ssd, 512mb ram, 330$ canadian, u cant beat that

  • to all ppl talking for acer, dont its crap... i've had their laptops, i know several ppl who've had laptops and desktops, and they generally just dont work very well

thats my experience, and the feedback i've gotten from friends at least

  • Epic fail dell. in CAN its $399. for tht price you could do way better.

  • I'm getting the 16gb next month

    yea!!!!!!!!!

  • Sorry Dell you're Dell Mini way behind, way under power for the price compare to companies like ACER....get a clue Dell!!!

  • The only OS is Ubuntu and Windows XP

  • it dosent have a internal dvd i wold apriciate a slot load dvd

  • is there any extenstion to add cd in?

  • i want an e slim!!!!! >:(

  • nice one.but why now? its too late i have my acer aspire one already.

  • nobody answered this question: can you download microsoft office 2007 in this laptop??

  • If it has windows yes

  • Dell, You have reached my expectations of a laptop. Thank you. Me being a hardcore gamer, have a nice XPS. But I needed something, small, and used for the Internet! Because I hate to boot up my huge Desktop to just look up my email, than shut it down. or having to bring a huge laptop to school, just to get a few files off. This is something I am really interested.

  • I'm really trying to think of a case where I need more than 4-8gb of space in one of these. I figure I would just carry a mem card or external HD. Am I missing the where the argument is for more space?

  • For $399 they offer the model with 16GB

That's pretty good price point, Considering.

And yea at 16GB that's plenty of head room for updates etc.

  • u got to be kidding...ACER offer 120 GIG for a cheaper price

  • hey idiot. the dell has a solid state hard drive. thats a very expensive hard drive. it takes 30 seconds to load up windows. and the screen is led not lcd. again its more expensive. plus acer sucks.

  • what is the word "acer" doing here in the first place?

  • yes u are....small laptop like these...u would need space to store pics, vieos, and music...

  • looks good, but well see how easy it's to hack. i need gps, 3g modem, dvb tuner, real hd and touch screen. usually dell is heavily against any modding, so most likely you can't turn it into a real killer, but rather a nightmare.

  • cool thing!

  • I just got1 skrizz y'all. Its tight.

  • This is just the same as all the other mininotes.

  • It's faster & has the atom processor which the first eee pc's did not have also better price point vs storage & screen resoultion. Bigger screen, I think it beats all of the others, I really want one!

  • B***Shit

  • I was considering the HP2133 until I heard about its running too hot and slow, has Vista, etc, then I went to the Dell site and saw this.

    I want this ASAP.

  • Great Looking Laptop. Thank you for sharing this video with me. Please post more videos of Cool Products!

  • for the most part, i can do all of what it can do on my WM6 phone..

  • to (seanmmvi) do you have Linux on your phone?

  • I wanted to see the interface and the computer, and I see a man sit talking blablabla.

  • i want one

  • does it cost extra to have internet anywhere. even if you are not in a computer wireless place like a hotel. cuz im going to florida and i want to IM my friends in the car. but my parents said i cant. does it cost extra to be able to do that?

  • I ordered one the day it was placed up for sale. It's a shame I'm going to have to wait a month for it to ship.

  • I love this computer. Although I am a desktop guy, I'd want one of these little babies if I were going out to Starbucks or somewhere. At least I could watch some movies or surf the web lol.

  • Organize your thoughts before you present.

  • unfortunatly i've had nothing but problems with my dell laptop. This thing will break and dell customer service is the worst i've ever encountered.

  • I think even in Aisa it would be hard to find really compact places that can not even hold a normal size laptop, he should try target on the international space station instead

  • this is a horrible presentation.

  • I found it pretty good, introduction to a new device from Dell, looks good to me !!!

  • Very nice. If it were payweek I'd buy one right now.

Well, no, actually. I want to see a few more reviews first. Little concerned about the keyboard and I want at least four hours of battery life.

    But, still, very nice.

  • Dunno, but with the Mini "you don't have to shkroll and you can fit more of the Internet on the page and be able to consume that."

  • I'm sorry Dell, but this netbook can't hold a candle to the Acer One. Outside the Dell name...what does this model have over the Acer? The Acer has 120GB hard drive...Windows Xp...more ports...nicer keyboard...and stocked with 1GB ram....oh and it's only 349.99. I'm posting this comment from mine now.
