My only critique is that The UPS Stores are individually owned franchised stores. The people (generally) that are The UPS Store employees are NOT UPS employees.
Those "pods" are called cans. They don't weigh 2,000 pounds fully loaded. An A1 size( the largest) weighs over 4,000 lbs. fully loaded. It is a bear hauling them over 100 yards on a roller floor with 2 people.
It's easy for a select few to undermine the work we actually do. I'm with GermanSniperBayArea, i've also loaded 500+ packages in an hour, by smalls 90% of the things we load for my belt averaged 40+ pounds, couple that with continuous lifting, lowering, twisting, in 100+ degree weather, lucky to have 40 degree temp in the winter, you don't like it? Go to fed ex. USPS too. BTW when in transit is where most of the damage occurs to packages, just think - trailer, 3000+ packages = heavy trailer.
Service is quick and efficient but Brokerage Fee was absolute and unexpected BS. I will NEVER use UPS again unless it's an emergency, USPS is just fine I have patience and if they don't get you at the door you can pick it up at a designated post office with ID. Very convenient.

because the UPS connecting flight had broken down, UPS had no choice but to return my package to the country of origin mid route and send it all the way out again. It took an hour on the phone to find this out and cost days in delivery. The online tracking looked like it almost made it but was sent back. - they dont put this return data in their online tracking. Major flaw. Very annoying too.
@setyouback each package doesn't travel along the entire 122 miles of conveyor. Most packages only travel along a couple miles of conveyor, averaging about 4.5 mph
UPS wont deliver a package unless it is 100% addressed correctly, at leat the post office can get it to you even if you are too stupid to address it right. I love how UPS sends out letters saying that your house is vacant or the address doesnt exist. Guess who gets the letter to you telling you UPS cant find your house...the mailman, lol

Yet, this is when we are racing. usually take the busiest trucks one guy loads in each, and the slow ones flip labels over. back is usually screaming at the end of the night. one guy can hit 900, but i cramp and everything else once i stay in the 800 range for too long

UPS has no customer care at all. They can't deliver after 5 PM for ya. (so only during the day when you work) then it is up to you to go pick it up 20 km from your home for a delivery you paid for!!!

I changed to FedEx several years ago because every time UPS delivered something they left it at my door and it was STOLEN. Drivers can leave a package at a door if they feel it's OK. Well ALL doors are OK even if you see a drug deal going down when they're bringing the package to the door. UPS has probably lost millions of revenue from every company they deliver for since it's the company that will have to resend the items ordered. I don't even order from companies that use UPS.
@Ambykind I work for UPS and Fedex, they are both allowed to be dropped off at your door without signature as a driver release, if the driver feels like it is a safe location to leave it and also depending on the weather.

I'm a UPS driver in Belgium, Europe, and i always require a signature, unless the customer has given me a signed proof (signature again) that i can leave it at his door, porch, rear door, whatever...

Im a proud UPSer and you guys who want to say UPS is bad or lazy and we wreck ur stuff its just not true. I've loaded 540 packages in an hour before, and thats not smalls. until you have loaded a long bed trailer you will never have respect for what UPS does. We work very hard, and only to satisfy our customers.

Yet, this is when we are racing. usually take the busiest trucks one guy loads in each, and the slow ones flip labels over. back is usually screaming at the end of the night. one guy can hit 900, but i cramp and everything else once i stay in the 800 range for too long

I work on a 2,000 acre farm and load 20 long trailers every day with fruits/vegetables without any of the product getting damaged, and they are more fragile than the boxes UPS uses. I don't respect UPS because most workers there ARE lazy, and don't do their jobs like they should. don't lie, no one works hard to satisfy others, it only to fuel their ego or pockets

@allsports249 That's what the customer does, are you going to load 1200+ packages into a 52' trailer back to back as the flow comes to you in 100 degree weather for the next 3 and a half hours and do it correctly, efficiently and safely? Not to mention you must not put anything that does not go in that individual load into that load, use the correct methods, and maintain your pace which is pretty damn fast. I watch the new people throw up after they say it's nothing, they can handle it...

UPS has no customer care at all. They can't deliver after 5 PM for ya. (so only during the day when you work) then it is up to you to go pick it up 20 km from your home for a delivery you paid for!!!

@mfilion maybe its like that where you live but tons of drivers deliver after 5pm. alot of the drivers in my hub get overtime everyday. management would be pissed if drivers came back to the hub with like 50 stops left. send agains is not good.Fedex would be kicking our asses if we didnt deliver after 5pm.

@mfilion First of all, UPS's customers are the shippers, not the recievers, secondly, when you KNOW you are getting a package, and if the UPS driver in question notifies you, it's your duty to stay home to accept the package, or contact customer service and change the delivery address, douche.

I changed to FedEx several years ago because every time UPS delivered something they left it at my door and it was STOLEN. Drivers can leave a package at a door if they feel it's OK. Well ALL doors are OK even if you see a drug deal going down when they're bringing the package to the door. UPS has probably lost millions of revenue from every company they deliver for since it's the company that will have to resend the items ordered. I don't even order from companies that use UPS.

@Ambykind I work for UPS and Fedex, they are both allowed to be dropped off at your door without signature as a driver release, if the driver feels like it is a safe location to leave it and also depending on the weather.

@ComputerInfoSystem lol yeah how about they come to a hub where people really unload and real people have to sort it, then loaders have to load it, you have so many open pkgs , and chaos becuase pkgs are missorted. thats one nice hub, its actually no joke. but we still deliver over 99.9% pkgs.. but its hard work im a part time supervisor and doing physcal labor at UPS suxs ass, so u better get promoted to training supervisor:)
