I appreciate 80's music, but hell no I don't wanna go back there. Nostalgia has taught me a few things, and that is I only remember the good stuff and convieniently 4get the crap. So to those that say grew up in the wrong generation? Stop listening to the current music and lock yourself in a cupboard. A kid today will be saying the same thing as you, in ten years time.
@5up3rk1w1 OMG! Finally someone feels the same why I do. I was watching a video from the 90s the other day. Some kid was whining about how she wish she had been "born in 1988 instead of 1998" *rolling my eyes*. I remember all the pop culture of the 80s and I came of age in the mid 90s. I used to wish I was a teen in the 70s or 80s. Now I realize only immature kids long for the unknown past. It so doesn't matter. That's what YouTube is for. LOL!
80's music had a broad spectrum. There was; Punk, Country Rock, Metal,Grunge and many other varieties. And there were a few bands like "Swing Out Sister" I don't know what you'd call this category of music... maybe "innocent rock". It's just so pleasant to watch this today. This song is well structured the horn parts are quite good. This video is pleasant and of course, as many others have said... Corinne Drewery is very pretty.
I remember watching this on VH1 and MTV regularly. That was when they played music most of the time. Now I have to go to channel 824 and then they still don't have the video.
I would be mighty ticked off if someone has already invented a time machine but kept it all to themselves for their use only. Take me back to the 80's! Please!
She's REALLY hot, but really can't sing. (just my opinion). She struggles to hit notes that most singers can hit in their sleep. Then she can't hold the note once she (sort of) hits it. The musicians are good, as are the back-up singers. Having said that, it does take me back to the 80's. Fetch me my leg warmers. Sigh.
@MsFuturestar1 oh, my apologies, im too used to being around trolls and having to bring out the keyboard warrior, Golden Brown is a homage to Heroin and the sweet embrace that she brings to the mind, its a song that worships heroin, probably written under the influence of it as its such a poetical masterpiece - to distant lands, takes both my hands, -
and no one noticed back in the day, right over our heads, parents heads, bbc, politicans, no uproar, read the lyrics with Heroin in mind :)
No problem and yeah I no what you mean about trolls. Well I would never have thought that but now you explain with the lyrics I can see where you are coming from thank you.
My fav song Enjoy The Silence by Depeche Mode, people claim thats about heroin addiction also, but I dont want to think of it like that. Thanks again Keyboard Warrior brilliant I will use that ,-) take care peace
@MsFuturestar1 someone pointed out once that most songs are about drugs and sex, when you look at them in that frame of mind it does make sense, i dont know if you know Lupe Fiascos - Kick, Push, its a great song with a nice skateboarding video, and when you see the video with the song you think its all about the right to skate. No, its about dealing drugs and the street etiquette and risks that go along with it, go have a look it fooled me for a while and yes, peace :)
this song is a tribute to a time when we weren't so stressed and angry. a great example of music that you could play in front of your grandmother and not get slapped. great music. i am so in love with this group.
@ryansearotica the 80's also had Black Flag, The Beastie Boys, GG Allin, Dead Kennedys, Crass, Public Image Limited and The Plasmatics. If you played their records to your grandmother she would not just slap you, she'd beat you to a pulp with her walking stick. This is a great song nonetheless! :)
Songs back in the 80's had emotion behind them. They transported your mind elsewhere. Every 80's song i know and love have a special memory attached to them. My childhood was amazing in big part to the music of the 80's.
I feel bad for the kids today who don't these types of songs. 80's indeed --- RULE!!!!
