I tried pushing it in, but it wont go in any further. If I look at the back it looks like everything is fitting properly because the top of the heatsink with the ribs, is against the mobo. Can you send me a picture?

the ps3 supports 220 and 110, DON´T use an external current transformer, i know of 4 friends that have their playstation burned because of that.
The playstation 3 has an inner current transformer, so you don´t need to use an external one (in japan one half use 110 and the other half use 220, thats why the inner current transformer supports both).

Has anyone brought their PS3 from a normal TV to a HD one then tried to connect the console back to the normal TV and it hasn't worked (if you get what I saying), but it still works on the HD TV? Or does anyone have any ideas that could help me?

i think what you're saying is that the image doesn't play on the normal tv. this is normal if you use it on an hdtv with hd resolution. you just have to change the resolution to whatever normal is in the settings before you plug it in to the normal tv.
On the HDTV, are you using HDMI, or the regular cables. Usually it switches modes. To fix this on the normal TV, all you have to do is hold in the reset til you hear 3 beeps.

There are plenty of people on game forums without launch units who get RROD. There even people with the Elite version that have got RROD. MS decided to up the warranty instead of actually fixing their console.
XBOX 360 is not i say not CHEAPER buy all the stuff to do the same things its over the price tag....ps3 network is free ,jesus the charge £70 for the wireless ,£40 for live..xbox360 is a good system but way more expensive
you will need those 2 360s because 1 will give out on you and you can use your other 360 while your broken one is getting repaired. makes sense. that's what i could've done. i won't buy a 360 because it's basically just a time bomb waiting to piss u off and microsoft really needs to do something about it. that's the only thing holding me back on buying another one. until it is confirmed that they are all fixed, 360 here i come.
From what I hear COD4 takes advantage of the processing power of the PS3 for some physics and this would be a notable advantage. The truth is PS3 has a lot of improving to do, perhaps a controller that has offset control sticks. I also noticed that PS3 will not allow you to output from both optical audio and HDMI audio at the same time, I don't always want to play PS3 through my 1000watt receiver and not having to change setting every time I want to do this would be nice.
i had a cod4 which was cracked about an 3/4 inch from the edge towards the middle. it still worked and i have been playing cod4 for about 2 months with it cracked. yesterday i took it out of my ps3 and sat it on top of my t.v. i later dropped it and when my brother put it in my ps3, it got stuck. i was able to get it out(or at least a piece of it) the other piece is lodged in the b-ray drive. so i am watching this video to learn a little something.

Both the IBM Cell and the IBM Xenon are RISC(reduced instruction set computer) processors meaning they both have to split instructions into small segments and execute them in parallel. Both these IBM chips work on the same style of executing code but only one is going into current blade servers, the Cell.
I like the Cell in the fact that it is the only true new processor design in many years. Adding cores and new smarter instruction sets to non changing designs can only give so much improvement before you hit some kind of wall, be it space, heat/leakage.
The main problem with the Cell is being able to efficiently code for it to bring out all its potential, bad code on this will show easily and be very slow.

Being an IT student myself on the hardware side of things it is clear that the xbox360 has the supirior hardware in it for the higher framerates and more sufficient distributions of code to each processor as aposed to the cell. However much bigger the float point is on a cell the memory bandwith is what is needed for the games. Personally I am a pc man but thats just me.

1liam192 and xanarkandXX, you're both wrong. First of all, the PS3 can't perform ANYWHERE near 2TFLOPS. That is both impossible and illogical, with no possible theoretical performance calculations coming anywhere near that number. The PS3 and Xbox 360 have similar floating points around 900GFLOPS to 1TFLOP. The difference is, the Cell has 1 core, and a majority of the game is NOT calculations such as AI and physics, and thats where it is behind it struggles.
Since the Xenon can easily process long strands of code, because unlike the Cell, it has 3 cores that are executing it- whereas the Cell only has 1 core to process long strands. If there are no branches in the code, which is what games consist mostly of, non-branched code, there is no way for the SPEs to do anything, making them useless for everything but AI, physics, etc. Code that has many branches.

On top of this, xanarkandXX, these long strands of code cannot be broken down, and unless you want severe performance issues (you obviously don't) the single core can't distribute any other lines of code, therein eliminating the possibility of procedural calculations/processing. Technically speaking, the Xenon IS, in fact, more powerful than the Cell.
Secondly, the PS3's RAM cannot be shared, and even if it could be, it would be highly inefficient to do so.

Going on, that is the exact reason Sony went with dedicated sets of RAM, is so that both chips would be guaranteed sufficient RAM as well as eliminating as many difficulties in writing code as possible. Thats where the 360 has the upper hand. Game developers can program their games to use certain amounts of memory for either chip, giving the chip that could use more memory, more memory, when the other doesn't need it.
omg dude just quit your technical babbling. no matter how much u talk about how much better the 360 is, ps3 has already caught up to the 360 graphics wise and the games are already looking better by leaps and bounds. yeah gears of war 2 MIGHT have better graphics than mgs4. then killzone 2 will come along after a million delays and is going to set the bar for console graphics. so if the 360 has far superior hardware than the ps3, the 360 should've just blown the competition away by now.
to tell you the truth I think when I updated the Ps3 this started to happen. It is a problem. they would not offer to send me a new one for free. and not even try to trouble shot it on the phone if not. And the 2% fail rate. Well I say give it time. Keep in mind the 360 came out well over a year before the Ps3 did. And I also say to defend sony that is why the 360 has sold alot more.

XBOX 360 is not i say not CHEAPER buy all the stuff to do the same things its over the price tag....ps3 network is free ,jesus the charge £70 for the wireless ,£40 for live..xbox360 is a good system but way more expensive

you will need those 2 360s because 1 will give out on you and you can use your other 360 while your broken one is getting repaired. makes sense. that's what i could've done. i won't buy a 360 because it's basically just a time bomb waiting to piss u off and microsoft really needs to do something about it. that's the only thing holding me back on buying another one. until it is confirmed that they are all fixed, 360 here i come.

From what I hear COD4 takes advantage of the processing power of the PS3 for some physics and this would be a notable advantage. The truth is PS3 has a lot of improving to do, perhaps a controller that has offset control sticks. I also noticed that PS3 will not allow you to output from both optical audio and HDMI audio at the same time, I don't always want to play PS3 through my 1000watt receiver and not having to change setting every time I want to do this would be nice.

i had a cod4 which was cracked about an 3/4 inch from the edge towards the middle. it still worked and i have been playing cod4 for about 2 months with it cracked. yesterday i took it out of my ps3 and sat it on top of my t.v. i later dropped it and when my brother put it in my ps3, it got stuck. i was able to get it out(or at least a piece of it) the other piece is lodged in the b-ray drive. so i am watching this video to learn a little something.

I can understand if you want to do all this research on how 360 is better than PS3 and all you will find is fanboy support and fake facts on how it is better... look at the real specs and c'mon just look it is already shaping to beat the 360 visually in no time...PS3 is TRUE next gen

Both the IBM Cell and the IBM Xenon are RISC(reduced instruction set computer) processors meaning they both have to split instructions into small segments and execute them in parallel. Both these IBM chips work on the same style of executing code but only one is going into current blade servers, the Cell.

I like the Cell in the fact that it is the only true new processor design in many years. Adding cores and new smarter instruction sets to non changing designs can only give so much improvement before you hit some kind of wall, be it space, heat/leakage.
The main problem with the Cell is being able to efficiently code for it to bring out all its potential, bad code on this will show easily and be very slow.

Being an IT student myself on the hardware side of things it is clear that the xbox360 has the supirior hardware in it for the higher framerates and more sufficient distributions of code to each processor as aposed to the cell. However much bigger the float point is on a cell the memory bandwith is what is needed for the games. Personally I am a pc man but thats just me.

1liam192 and xanarkandXX, you're both wrong. First of all, the PS3 can't perform ANYWHERE near 2TFLOPS. That is both impossible and illogical, with no possible theoretical performance calculations coming anywhere near that number. The PS3 and Xbox 360 have similar floating points around 900GFLOPS to 1TFLOP. The difference is, the Cell has 1 core, and a majority of the game is NOT calculations such as AI and physics, and thats where it is behind it struggles.

Since the Xenon can easily process long strands of code, because unlike the Cell, it has 3 cores that are executing it- whereas the Cell only has 1 core to process long strands. If there are no branches in the code, which is what games consist mostly of, non-branched code, there is no way for the SPEs to do anything, making them useless for everything but AI, physics, etc. Code that has many branches.

On top of this, xanarkandXX, these long strands of code cannot be broken down, and unless you want severe performance issues (you obviously don't) the single core can't distribute any other lines of code, therein eliminating the possibility of procedural calculations/processing. Technically speaking, the Xenon IS, in fact, more powerful than the Cell.
Secondly, the PS3's RAM cannot be shared, and even if it could be, it would be highly inefficient to do so.

Going on, that is the exact reason Sony went with dedicated sets of RAM, is so that both chips would be guaranteed sufficient RAM as well as eliminating as many difficulties in writing code as possible. Thats where the 360 has the upper hand. Game developers can program their games to use certain amounts of memory for either chip, giving the chip that could use more memory, more memory, when the other doesn't need it.

omg dude just quit your technical babbling. no matter how much u talk about how much better the 360 is, ps3 has already caught up to the 360 graphics wise and the games are already looking better by leaps and bounds. yeah gears of war 2 MIGHT have better graphics than mgs4. then killzone 2 will come along after a million delays and is going to set the bar for console graphics. so if the 360 has far superior hardware than the ps3, the 360 should've just blown the competition away by now.

to tell you the truth I think when I updated the Ps3 this started to happen. It is a problem. they would not offer to send me a new one for free. and not even try to trouble shot it on the phone if not. And the 2% fail rate. Well I say give it time. Keep in mind the 360 came out well over a year before the Ps3 did. And I also say to defend sony that is why the 360 has sold alot more.
