  • Totally wild. I typed in Bad Radio, just to see what would pop up, so I could say “the personalities behind the mic in my town, are absolute crackers”, and I get Eddie Vedder.

  • Too cool. I was at this show in the Exhibition Hall at the Seattle Center.

  • I remember what was big in 89. It was crap just like this. Pearl Jam got big on MTV and there 1st few videos. fake fake fake fake I smell fake.

  • this just shows that theres nothing fake about vedder,he was the same then as he is now

  • @ghostwhiskey Yeah, I never understand it when people accuse Eddie of being a phoney. Is it even possible to successfully pull off a fake personality for over TWENTY years?! :P

And IF he HAS been pretending to be a nice, unassuming guy with a social conscience all this time, I kinda wish MORE people would fake it!

  • @LantaGem thats a genious thing to say. awesome

  • anyone know the other band members names?

  • @niallro Dave George, Joey Ponchetti and Dave Silva

  • Does anybody know the name of the music they are playing at the end of the video?

  • @GSMulder its a clip of the song Waste My Days at the end. this live version was released on bad radio's 4-song cassette demo "Bad Radio" and its the same version with that clip at the end of it

  • @nirvanaNchains21 Thanks a lot man! Do you know where I can find this song? I couldnt find the full version...

  • @GSMulder i actually don't. the only part of this song i have heard is the clip at the end. i wanna hear the whole song too!

  • @nirvanaNchains21 just found it man! I can send to you by e-mail, do you wanna?

  • @GSMulder sure email is in message. thx!

  • born in '79 and yeah..loved every minute of it the 90s was a great era

  • @johnralex ha! i was born the same year and i fully agree

  • Great song 20 years ago, 15 years ago, 10, 5, today and foward

  • Anyone know which venue this was filmed at? I was in San Diego around this time and I would love to know

  • I love how this stuff shows up from back in the day!!!! I was in high school then. Can't wait to go to Alpine Valley for 20 year anniversary in September!

  • OMG! You are such an asshole! I DID listen to those bands and I DID know about Andrew Wood and MLB. I was talking about the crap on the radio that we were and still are forced to listen to. Does it make you feel like a big strong man to heckel ppl on youtube? You must have a really small dick...seriously dude, get a life.

  • versione molto psicadelica !

  • Absolutely amazing. Incredible that this footage even exists. This clip is right up there with the clips of Layne Staley singing in SLEZE in front of high school auditorium audiences.

Incredible to be watching this video, taken at a time when Eddie had no idea what was ahead. Probably had no idea that the most important thing he was doing at the time was playing basketball with Jack Irons.

  • Young Eddie standing on that stage has no idea one day thousands of people will fill arenas and sing this with him.. Amazing....

  • Eddie Vedder ass rapes Lady Gaga & justin beiber!!!!

  • Guys and Girls, Good music will always exist. You are just looking in the wrong direction. Massive Media is focused on shit right now, why the hell do you keep consuming that? Just go for the "under" I've been a musician for 12 years and my band hasn't stopped playin' since then. Likewise there are millones of bands waiting to be heard at MySpace. Just make a Random search...don't wait for the media to provide you with the good stuff.. Don't be lazy! Hail Hail to the real Music!

  • I guess this must be some place that smells like piss.

    (but that's ok too)

  • @HugoRune1976 lulz

  • @HugoRune1976

Yes ! That he mention on the live at the garden 2003!

  • priceless

  • Eddie already was the Big promise that he became to be..... Was no more than a kid but already with this Wonderful voice and sensibility and deep felling....Yeap...Wonderfullll!!!!!

The only pitty that i was a kid in that time, couldn't go to concerts!!!!!!

  • 1989???? I can´t believe it, cause pearl jam starts in 1991, and better man is a song of their third studio album "vitalogy" (1994) in my opinion the best album of pearl jam

  • @alfr9999 Actually, this is supposed to be one of the first songs Eddie wrote as a young child. If I was told correctly, he wrote the song while listening to "Save it for Later" (which is tied as my favorite songs of all time!).

  • @alfr9999 teh song is froooooooooooom way back ins vedders life... its not PJs fromm 1994... he realsed it in 1994... but he sang it in is band before PJ.

  • any of u guys know the son "like an angel" by dab radio?????

  • @Erik030783 sonG

  • Ha thats my uncle... dave george on the right they definitly kicked eddie out cuz he was annoying lmao

  • @hawaiiansrfgrl15 When the list of REALLY FUCKING BAD IDEAS in the Music Industry is written sacking Eddie Vedder for being annoying has got to be up there with passing on the Beatles.

  • It's amazing how little this song changed from its inception, even with a new band, different sound, 5 years, and a producer.

  • OMG AWESOME!!! Thanks dude you make my week so hapyy whit this video!!

  • wow...

  • Lady Gaga is like Abba,

they will be still listening to it 40 yrs from now.

I could see Eddie doing "Poker Face"

    Yeah, yeah.

  • man.. 80's and 90's had feeling. it's lame to live 2000's..

  • There was a guy out here on YouTube, called "grungeera", he had alot of Bad Radio demos put up, then he closed his account, but I know he sent the demos to some of you guys, if you have them, Please send me a Privat Message!!!

  • @Ekyvvsaq ye i saw this too..he's luxembourgish, and so am i, maybe sometime i'll try to find him though our country is not THAT big ;)

  • @EdwardLouisSeverson3 Haha yeah, take a bikeride for a couple of hours with a Bad Radio t-shirt and scream "GRUUUNGEEERAAA!", you will propably find him before midnight!

Just kidding, but if you do, please let me know, okay?

  • What was he saying about his number before the song?

  • PRICELESS PEACE ART HISTORY HERE !!!!

  • What thats like 4 years before the rest of the world got to her that? So Cool!!!! Love VHS

  • Great video and for you guys arguing it's you're not your.

  • Got this on VHS!! whole show!

  • its amazing how the song basically didnt change at all between this and the pearl jam version.

  • way too cute!!!! :)

  • Eddie wore his jammies to the concert..how cute is that? :p

  • @shelibeli40

Why the fk is that a thumbs down?? You idiots, it's a compliment! He's cute as HELL! :p

  • what kind of world is this.f'd up that u guys can't comment wthout tearin each others heads off. I'm outa here!

  • god hates lazy frontmen

  • wow...it is so strange to hear this exactly as it is now...I can't believe this song is 20 years old!

  • lmao

  • Remember what was popular in 1989?? It was a bunch of crap just like now. For these guys to introduce this kind of solid talent at a time when all we were hearing was "Cinderella" or "poison"..cmon..theres no comparison.

It's sad tho that there are so many out there with this potential but they never get a chance because we have ppl like Jay Z, Brittany and Kanye West shoved down our throats....oh yea and lets not forget the forgetable Lady Gaga...

*sigh* I miss the good ol days

  • then its up for people like you and me to pick up guitars and pens and write good music

  • Well maybe the same will happen like what happened back then: loads of shit music everywhere you turn, and then much better music comes out from almost nowhere and becomes huge, then that loses popularity and some other shit music comes up and it just keeps going and going and going and going.....

  • Let's hope that history repeats itself. We NEED another "revolution"! :)

  • shelibeli...wow you said a MOUTHFUL! Kudos to you. I was never a 'hair band' guy...always a 'metalhead' into Sab, Zep, Maiden, Priest...my bassit at the time and I followed the Seattle scene closely (Sub Pop and all) because we wished we had a 'scene' where we are from. I hate the term 'grunge' because it's so negative...but killer bands like Mother Love Bone, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, and (early) Pearl Jam were definitely a welcome addition to my library. Rap has ruined the music biz....

  • Haha, a few martini's, some Eddie Vedder and I never shut up! lol

I grew up on Sab, Zep, Floyd etc.. and I still love it.

I also hate the term "grunge". We went from posers, hair and makeup to down to earth, no frills actual talent! Of course the media had to capitalize off of it and make lots of $ tho..such b/s.

I also agree with you about rap but do not tell a soul that I am a closet Eminem fan!...lol :p

  • Yep--EMINEM is the best whiteboy rapper since 3rd Bass (The Cactus Album)...I also dig him (8 Mile was a great flick). But rap has become very negative with all the 'gangsta' bullshit--and the glorification of violence. Gone are the days of positive intelligent rap acts like Boogie Down Productions, Eric B. And Rakim, Jungle Brothers, and Ultramagnetic M.C.'s...I grew up in a very 'urban' neighborhood and while I stuck to my 'metal guns', I was exposed to lots of rap. PJ lost me after 'vs.'

  • eminem its a fucking pussy, and his movie was also

stupid faggot, he thinks that he is a fucking bad boy and shit but wtf the only thing he wants its money comming from the pockets of sutpid little boys like you who bought his shity fake style

  • Hey 'matias7anriquex'--first of all you nitwit, I'm NOT a 'little boy'--and who the fuck are you to talk shit to me anyway? You know absolutely squat about me, so go fuck yourself--I'll rip your fucking heart out punk. Obviously your one of these 'keyboard warrior' assholes who like to hide behind a computer and act hard--bite my bag bitch!

  • ajaja

    go see a psychiatrist men

    you truuuly need it

    ajaja

and dont worry your daddy wll pay it ;)

  • @shelibeli40 History repeats itself. I think just like how commercial 80s pop and hair metal rock was supplanted by grunge - itself of modern, direct discendent of blues and soul - so too will today's pop be overtaken by soulful, meaningful music again

  • @demravager I hope you're right:):)

  • @shelibeli40 my thought exactly. Think its playing a part of why i hate my goddamn life so much :P

  • @shelibeli40 Jay-Z is arguably the best rapper of all-time and Kanye is as talented of a producer as they come. I get what your trying to say but you can't compare rap and hip-hop to 90s grunge.

  • @shelibeli40 Spoken like someone who had no idea what was going on music-wise in 1989, and is still clueless today... Nothing in 1989?? I believe Nirvana had an album out, and Fugazi & the like ... If all you did was listen to the radio then you were bombarded by hair bands, but their was tons of good bands out there in 89.... Hell, the guys that would eventually go on to form Pearl Jam with Eddie were in a little band called Mother Love Bone at the time... I hope you've heard of it...

  • @shelibeli40 (continued) And if you really think there's no good music out there today maybe you shopuld try shutting off the radio and stop letting other people and companies tell you what to listen to.... Just a thought

  • @shelibeli40 There was some good stuff in '89, and some crap. Just as always. See your more recent comment about the stuff on radio being crap as opposed to all music. I personally think that's more true today than in '89, but I guess it's all a matter of taste. At least in '89 the DJs could physically put their hands on a record/CD and choose which song they play. For the most part, that's not possible anymore.

  • gracias ,,muchas gracias,,,youtube vale la pen por estas cosas ,,el q lo subio es un grande.

  • AMAZING!!!

  • Que buen recuerdo...

    ALL THOSE YESTERDAYS were great..

    hail hail Eddie

  • increible archivo!

no sabia que la había compuesto tantos años antes del Vitalogy

    thanks for the video :D

  • THIS IS INCREDIBLE!

  • wow this is amazing

  • Love it!!!!

  • este video es todo un archivo de la exelencia, del nivel y de la historia de una de las mejores bandas y sobre todo de su cantante, pearl jam no cambio en lo absoluto le genialidad de vedder...

    great video!!!

  • And Eddie isn't playing the guitar. WOW

  • thank U for the vid. it's a history, great history! I feel happy that I can see it.

thanx once again. It means much for me:)

    best wishes:)))

  • is it me or Eddie at around 00:45 kinda cries?

anyway, this video is really great!

  • UHASUHSUHAHUS

Oh guys, this bad radio is so fucking dumb

I prefer much more PJ and Vedders solo

  • Of course, but it was his starting band. It wasn't pro yet..

  • Your a fucking idiot, and obviously not a real pearl jam fan. Bad Radio is everything as far as Pearl Jam is concerned. Without Bad Radio and with Mother Love Bone, or Green River, Pearl Jam doesn't happen. And Pearl Jam is the greatest band of the modern era, and I only say modern era cause I feel like giving more credit to other bands then they deserve.

Keep on Rockin in the Free World

Long live the real gods of Rock N Roll

    PEARL JAM

  • A little overboard...those first 3 albums were good, then they fell apart

  • My thoughts exactly, and I really *really* tried, since I was a *huge* fan; I just did not 'get' most of the stuff after those three (and Vitalogy was a bit of a stretch in and of itself). Outside of a few songs (I Got Shit, maybe Given to Fly and a couple others), anything they've done since then has just been uninteresting and banal. And it's not because I don't like anything mellow or un-grunge-y.

The best thing this band has done since 1994 was decide to take Sleater-Kinney on tour.

  • Your TOTALLY missing the point....It's historic!!!

  • So Vedder always ruled

  • It kinda sounds that way...

  • How would you like to be one of those guys in Bad Radio? "Yeah, we were Eddie Vedder's first band, before, y'know, he went on to have some fame. And fortune. Now excuse me, I have to wash this car here."

  • where it says that, man?

  • What if?

  • "party at my house tonight and every night. get my number from one of my friends." i would love to go.

  • What can you say? Eddie is the reason I am a musician. I agree, this is one of the best videos on youtube. It's great to see the "evolution" of Eddie.

  • pearl jam - amazing

    youtube- shit

    myspace -shit

    internet- shit

  • far out, strange to see this song back that early ey....then years later, HIT and made millions!!

  • too bad I was born that year, man would I like to be in Seattle at that time...

  • same here. we definately got gypped, look at the musicians of our day... nothing can compare .

  • Im telling you man.. We should all blame that god damn Green day! :)

Just kidding, we should blame money for making musicians lose focus on their art...

  • exactly. its all about the money now. muscians dont play for themselves, they play for thier label. great song.

  • @meh1441 ....well we still have bands like tool that make music....muse is good...but nickelback has ruined this generation and anyone who is 34-44 at the present time

  • @grassyknoley tool is idiotic band. They can make good song, but they make random shit of 15 min.

  • But Bad Radio wasn't a Seattle band, they were from San Diego.

  • Man the drummer totally overplays in this! It doesnt really hold a candle to PJ's version.

  • Lol PJ's version didn't exist yet :p

In fact, PJ didn't exist yet in '89

this is the original version, so the drummer can't overplay, i mean, that's how the song is made

  • Oh so cool, are the guys of Bad Radio mad that Eddie left and took this song and made it big without them?

  • Maybe jealous, but not mad. Eddie wrote the song before he joined Bad Radio, in fact it was on his audition tape and one of the main reasons he was asked to join the band.

  • yeah Better man is a really powerful song. Go and watch Eddie and his speach on better man on the show storytellers..

  • its so strange to know that this song wouldnt become popular until about 5 years later...

  • "party at my house, you can get my number from my friends" hah

  • most valuable vid ive seen on youtube

  • thnx for posting this !!!

  • Eddie wrote it in High School, so of course he played it in 1989

  • check your facts right. in the vitalogy book it actually says that the song is a cover. because Eddie wrote it while in Bad Radio, about his mother and her relationship with Eddies stepdad.

  • wrong

  • i wish i knew pearl jamm personally

  • omg they was young i member dis..**drops* wow

  • ill never believe,until i see it,that god song had 5 years,i love it!

  • holyy, this is amazing!!

  • Eddie's plaid pants are making my life right now.

  • totally!

  • THAT IS AMAZING!!! I'm surprised Bad Radio didnt get big with Betterman! His voice is awesome in that track!

It is a bit strange with it slighty more up beat at the intro... but thats cool!

  • What a find!!!

  • WOW i love YouTube for this exact reason!

  • amazing!

thank you so much for this upload.

  • these 3 guys are probably washing cars

  • haha you are sadly mistaken hard as s

  • waiting tables??

  • haha just get the fuck out of this conversation. apparently you are oblivious to who that is.

  • i think robertk was referring to the 3 people in this video that arent in pj.

  • LOL, but no. They all have real jobs, and they're all still playing music.

  • This might be the coolest thing I've seen this year. Awesome find....

  • I agree, the drummer is a 3rd beat man just like the 'Police' drummer. If you told me it was The Police with Eddie guest singing I would believe you!

  • holy shit historic

  • how did this song not blow this band into a huge success??

I think this song was way before its time. Its just a beautiful song.

  • dude this HISTORIC...Ed looks like a different person there...He seemed to be happier!!! I'm wondering why he changed so much his mood in PJ...I know the sound is very different from PJ's...but he has always been Ed!!!

Ps. Look those pants,man...hehehehe...very funny! :)

  • My brother actually has an old VHS with this entire show on it.

  • this is really musical archeology!!!...thanks for upload this, is amazing!!

  • cool vid

  • Where did you get this recording. Do you have more Bad Radio stuff? I'd love to hear it. The next song sounds really good too!

  • it sounds like if the police was the backin band doin betterman, haha

  • Yeah! I was thinking the same.

  • thank you sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much for uploading

  • i wonder if he only wrote the lyrcis or he worte music because he usally plays the guitar with this song with pj

  • He wrote the music to everything credited to him.

  • gracias muchas gracias por este m,aterial gracias

  • OMG this is awesome!! thanks for uploading..

  • it actually is BETTERMAN!!!! damn, Eddie truly had it in him way before he met Stone and Jeff...

  • See he was wearing flannel before it became popular. Flannel pajamas.

  • Those were called limpies back then in San Diego. They were called limpies because you weren't supposed to were underware with them. If you were anything but limp everyone new about it. :) Those pants bring back a lot of memories.

  • UNA JOYA DE COLECCION.

    Great material

  • Awesome!!! Ive been waiting to see this!! You Rock!!

  • wow man this is vintage material, were did ya get it? bravo
