@g0dlike308 I just tested a couple of HD movies in media player classic with the laptop in low power mode while streaming over wireless and everything played fine. Results with vlc should be similar.
a + for the display? LAL, this guy sounds like he has no idea!!! i've bought and sent this piece of crap back just becaus of the horrible angle, washed out colors and the crappy brightness. just a nightmare of a portable device! angle really pisses of if you are watching a blu-ray from hdd or external rom with your friends.
between this and the ul80vt and the ul50vt, which would you consider better for college? the 30vt seems super portable, but the 80vt seems like its just as portable with a bigger screen.
@del1992 The UL80/UL50 have bigger screens, but they are the same resolution, they also have an optical drive and the UL80 has a 320GB drive. I've heard that the build quality on the larger models may be a bit worse, but haven't used one myself. Battery life may be slightly better on the UL30VT because of the smaller screen. I would say go with the UL30VT unless you need the DVD drive in the larger models.
lmfao... i just wanna laugh at the captions that youtube has on your video... its so off and it seems like the captions is talking about politics instead of what your saying..
@mcbeatbox937 : I just bought this laptop. The laptop makes a chirping noise whenever hard drive is read. The problem is that the noise is louder than other laptops I have had in the past. Is this noise normal for this laptop? I read on some websites that the HDD is bit noisy but not sure if they are talking about spinning noise or disk read noise. Please help.
@branjobu96 I would go for UL80VT. You can always get a bluetooth dongle if needed, and it will fit in your pocket. Something that can't be said about having to carry around an external optical drive!
Yes i really need the optical drive for installing games and watching movies on the go and i find a bluetooth stick much cheaper than the Optical drive...And it fits right on the pocket....So ill stick for the UL80VT...Thanks anyway!! =D
The Nvidia 310M in the JT offers a minimal boost in performance for games and the i3-330um - which was supposed to b the superior i7 640UM/62UM - will drain the battery faster. I'd say the UL30VT is better choice - even after 6 months - because of longer battery life, cheaper price, and great performance. This is coming from someone who has a desktop with an i7 920 @ to 3.6ghz, 5870, 6gb ram and thinks netbooks are too slow. UL30JT wasn't what I thought it was. Hope that helps!
@branjobu96 Shoot for the 30, the UL series is mainly for mobility. Needless to say, with an 18 inch screen you're not gonna get much mobility. Also, wait for the JT series to come out, it's much faster.
i really like this series, ordered mine last night so it should get here today NEXT DAY AIR!!!! but mine is a ul50ag. but to just get a idea how long would battery last while gaming?
I just did a quick test of running the battery down to 90% while gaming...and it says about 1 hr and 40 minutes. I'm not sure how accurate this is but at least it should give you an idea of what it can do.
I haven't actually completely run the battery down yet but I think I have about 70% left after about two to three hours with settings similar to what you described.
hey I have a tip for you to do the touch gestures. I found that to do the 3 finger tap, you have to spread your fingers out, so space them out to the edges of the touchpad when you tap it. works everytime for me now.
Sounds like SuperMan!

Should I buy ul30vt or 1215N? Here in my country the prices are almost the same
Ilmdah 1 year ago
@Ilmdah I just quickly checked the specifications on the 1215N and the UL30VT should be faster overall.

The UL30JT is priced at about $400 more, so waiting for that is not necessarily relevant.
Nor would you necessarily need the faster CPU in a computer like this (and the GPU in UL30JT is basically the same as in the UL30VT)

@henrolig The UL30VT doesn't come with one, but the larger models, such as the UL50VT and UL80VT do.

Have you had a chance to install Adobe Flash 10.1 Beta? If not, can you?
Can you try using integrated graphics for a day to see how long the battery lasts?
Thank you!
MeatwadSpeaks 2 years ago
I haven't had time to test Flash 10.1 yet but the battery is close to 10 hours with integrated graphics.

whats the difference between this and the UL50VT?
Chinnyboy91 2 years ago
Screen size and I believe the UL50VT may not have Bluetooth.
mcbeatbox937 2 years ago
do they still sell this with a 4 cell bettery? i just want the thing to weight less and i dont exactly need 12 hours of battery....
joyousjoy 2 years ago
As far as i know the UL30VT-X1 comes with the 4-cell battery and the UL30VT-A1 comes with the bigger battery.
mcbeatbox937 2 years ago
I have no idea what to get...Either the UL80VT or the UL30VT...
- The UL80VT Has a bigger screen, an integrated optical drive and DOESENT have bluetooth.....
- The UL30VT has a smaller screen, No optical drive but has an integrated bluetooth...
Which one should i get..

@branjobu96
do you really need optical Dvd/cd Drive?
I have the ul30vt, and i got external DVD drive,
I noticed that i almost never needed a DVD drive. its lighter without it, and it more sturdy,
for playing and installing games, i use ISO. files, torrent.
Get the Ul30vt ,

Hope i'm not too late!
