The earth is not egg-shaped, and semen does not originate in the kidneys. There are ahadith which make reference to giant goats and fish which hold up the world, and all sorts of bizarre and totally erroneous pseudo-scientific claims appear in narratives attributed to Muhammad. Also, it is difficult to say exactly what the Quran is referring to in its discourse on the embryo. I wouldn't bet my life on the miraculous nature of the Quran if I were arguing based on its alleged scientific accuracy.
Noobs... like me? No, we leave translating the Quran to Muslims, and they don't do such a great job usually. Just look at Abdullah Yusuf Ali. His is not a very accurate translation at all. Is Arabic so difficult to translate? Every translation is done by a Muslim, so if a Muslim decides to render the Arabic to refer to an egg-shaped earth, take it up with that particular Muslim, not with me.
With all due respect, there are plot holes in the narrative of the Quran in relation to the Bible. The Bible (and I understand Muslims will say it is corrupt—but isn't that sort of a cop-out?), speaking of the Messiah, declares that the Kingdom of Israel will be restored in the last days. Okay, so how will Islam fulfill this exactly? It is a non-negotiable eschatological truth, according to the Bible, and there are no Muslims awaiting a restored Israel and the worldwide reign of the Jewish king.

I think Nouman Ali Khan makes some good points in the beginning, but to say the scriptures are altered by the Jews and Jesus corrected them is going too far. It is better to say Jesus corrected the context of the Jewish leadership, but that does not mean the scriptures were altered by them. Yes, Islam is a new religion because it does not believe in the theophanies of the Bible and since the way it was given to Muhammad differs from the original has negative consequences.
And yes I'm an Arab and when I read the English translation of the Quran I feel that it's SO DIFFERENT though it conveys the same meaning but in many ways , it doesn't convey the EXACT meaning because some Arabic words don't have Synonyms in English!

@WARDGL - Hi, Israel is also called Jacob and Jacob was the second son of Isaac (Gen 32:22). So, I'm not sure what you are trying to prove. Israel is also called "My People" in other parts of scripture (Psalm 50:7; Dan 9:20). In other words, you must read the context to figure out what the proper meaning should be. Some words have multiple meanings.

I don't agree with all the comments saying that this is a great conversation. It's a total whitewash and an ill-disguised vehicle for Dawa. No problem in that per se, but at least call a spade a spade. The Christian on the show is a well meaning enough guy but simply not up to the task in terms of his knowledge about either islam or christianty, especially when up against someone of the calibre of professor Khan.
He (Avila) is treated with utter contempt. I counted about six or so minutes of talk time out of a 31 minute show, only a bit less than the host Eddie at 4 minutes, and with a 1 minute slot from some discovery channel type show, that leaves a whopping 20 minutes for Professor Khan to set out his stall.
So please don't call it a dialogue. Proselytizing (or, as Eddie would say, PROST-elytizing, presumably something that Alain Prost does) banners crawl across the screen virtually every time Avila gets to speak, and most shameful is the cognitivie dissonance the host throws in when, before graciously allowing Avila to speak, attempts to proselytize/prostelytize yet again at 16.28 or so.

The miracle of the Quran is expressed in the Challenge it poses. In the Quran, Allah SWT has ordered His Prophet Mohammad (peace and blessings upon him) to declare it by ways of challenging and confirming, loudly and clearly, that the production of the Quran is beyond the ability of any rational capacities.
Allah SWT said that which is closely translated and means:
Say: surely, if the visible [conscience] beings and the invisible [conscience] beings were to ally together, on the condition, that they should bring a system like this Quran, they could not bring a system like it, even if one of them were a helper to another. [The Grand Quran, 17:88].
Throughout time there have been many attempts made to challenge the Divinity of the Quran, and all have failed. The Quran is rationally proven to be Gods Miraculous Word in both: its presented challenge and in the failure of those attempted to challenge it thus far, because of their inability.
Maa'shaa Allah, Nu'maan is great yet I always wish that Quran would be recited aloud to these skeptics. Let Allah speak, more effective on the hearts than any human. The actual tones and letters are miracles in and of themselves. Also, teach a bit of the verses of tawheed straight away.
Muslims fear, love, trust, and whole-heartedly believe in Allah (swt) all at once. Fear is but one of many emotions expressed in this religion. The big bang is how the universe came into being. What there was before that we dont know yet but i am confident science will answer the question. Why does there have to be an intelligent being who created the universe? The argument from design has been crushed by evolution which shows in fact we were not designed.

how do you know god facilitates this process, how can you make such a leap without the evidence. Surely evolution shows that there is no need for a God not the other way round. Also how do you reconcile evolution with the story of Adam and Eve.
Because the way the THEORY of evolution is, that earth JUST HAPPENED to be at the perfect point in our solar system to support life, and it JUST HAPPENED that life began and it JUST HAPPENED that things began to "Evolve"

There are ahadith which make reference to giant goats and fish which hold up the world, and all sorts of bizarre and totally erroneous pseudo-scientific claims appear in narratives attributed to Muhammad. Also, it is difficult to say exactly what the Quran is referring to in its discourse on the embryo. I wouldn't bet my life on the miraculous nature of the Quran if I were arguing based on its alleged scientific accuracy.

Noobs... like me? No, we leave translating the Quran to Muslims, and they don't do such a great job usually. Just look at Abdullah Yusuf Ali. His is not a very accurate translation at all. Is Arabic so difficult to translate? Every translation is done by a Muslim, so if a Muslim decides to render the Arabic to refer to an egg-shaped earth, take it up with that particular Muslim, not with me.

I think Nouman Ali Khan makes some good points in the beginning, but to say the scriptures are altered by the Jews and Jesus corrected them is going too far. It is better to say Jesus corrected the context of the Jewish leadership, but that does not mean the scriptures were altered by them. Yes, Islam is a new religion because it does not believe in the theophanies of the Bible and since the way it was given to Muhammad differs from the original has negative consequences.

And yes I'm an Arab and when I read the English translation of the Quran I feel that it's SO DIFFERENT though it conveys the same meaning but in many ways , it doesn't convey the EXACT meaning because some Arabic words don't have Synonyms in English!

@WARDGL - Hi, Israel is also called Jacob and Jacob was the second son of Isaac (Gen 32:22). So, I'm not sure what you are trying to prove. Israel is also called "My People" in other parts of scripture (Psalm 50:7; Dan 9:20). In other words, you must read the context to figure out what the proper meaning should be. Some words have multiple meanings.
Please read the gospel, John chapter 1, where the Word was with God in the beginning and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Beautiful.

Jesus (alayhis salam) was God's messenger, before Muhammad. All muslims belive in it. He was sent to the Jews long before Muhammad was born. After Jesus (AS), Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) was sent, but this time a messenger was sent to all of mankind and not just to one group of people. We believe in Jesus as well, but unlike the christians, who call Jesus (AS) God, we believe he was a prophet of God. A messenger. Hope that helped clear things up :)

That is becasue Eesa (A.S.) / Jesus was one the messenger of Allah. That is what muslims believe. There were a total of 124,000 prophets sent by Allah to guide mankind.
What is said in the video is a part of what Yusuf Islam said. Search "A is for Allah" on youtube and watch the first link.
Go direct to 3:24 and the sequence starts there. He took the names of many prophets, including Muhammad (S.A.W.W.), Jesus (A.S), Moses (A.S.), Abraham (A.S.) etc.

I don't agree with all the comments saying that this is a great conversation. It's a total whitewash and an ill-disguised vehicle for Dawa. No problem in that per se, but at least call a spade a spade. The Christian on the show is a well meaning enough guy but simply not up to the task in terms of his knowledge about either islam or christianty, especially when up against someone of the calibre of professor Khan.

He (Avila) is treated with utter contempt. I counted about six or so minutes of talk time out of a 31 minute show, only a bit less than the host Eddie at 4 minutes, and with a 1 minute slot from some discovery channel type show, that leaves a whopping 20 minutes for Professor Khan to set out his stall.

So please don't call it a dialogue. Proselytizing (or, as Eddie would say, PROST-elytizing, presumably something that Alain Prost does) banners crawl across the screen virtually every time Avila gets to speak, and most shameful is the cognitivie dissonance the host throws in when, before graciously allowing Avila to speak, attempts to proselytize/prostelytize yet again at 16.28 or so.

@whyteay Avila is a lox, just brought on to give it some veritas, and I would invite Muslims to do what the Deen Show and pro-Islamic boosters like it encourage people to do in keeping an 'open mind' by viewing the much meatier debates involving, for example James White, and Muslims, not to mention White's pulling apart of Shaykh Yusuf Estes' non-arguments on another episode of the Deen Show.

The miracle of the Quran is expressed in the Challenge it poses. In the Quran, Allah SWT has ordered His Prophet Mohammad (peace and blessings upon him) to declare it by ways of challenging and confirming, loudly and clearly, that the production of the Quran is beyond the ability of any rational capacities.

Nouman and Shabir Ally are the best people to come to about the Qur'an - they're not going to lie about these things and make ambiguos theories.
Shabir has pretty much finished his Phd in Qur'anic exegesis and Nouman is a proffesor in Arabic.

Maa'shaa Allah, Nu'maan is great yet I always wish that Quran would be recited aloud to these skeptics. Let Allah speak, more effective on the hearts than any human. The actual tones and letters are miracles in and of themselves. Also, teach a bit of the verses of tawheed straight away.

The writing you suggested is fictional. There's no proof that (1) the article from which you read is authentic (2) that this man ever lived at that time(3) that his writings/findings were of that time (ie in the 2nd century).
Whereas, every single letter of the arabic Qur'an is authentic.

1. Actually, the writings are Galen are established 100% as 2nd century. It is referenced by SO MANY people, only an idiot could refute it. research it and see.
2. You are quite correct, you could class it as fiction...although at the time people did consider it as science. Hence why it was copied (badly) and put in the Quran. Anyone that was not brainwashed would immediately see the truth.

The big bang is how the universe came into being. What there was before that we dont know yet but i am confident science will answer the question. Why does there have to be an intelligent being who created the universe? The argument from design has been crushed by evolution which shows in fact we were not designed.

That is an oversimplification "invisible man", unless you truly believe that's what we believe. The only God (in Arabic Allah) did create us in just proportions. Look at your nails, if they were too sharp they would tear your skin, if they were too supple they wouldn't be able to scratch. As is the case, with various other portions of our bodies. Anyways, the signs of God are so numerous that if you stopped and looked around with an unbiased view it would come to you.

Who facilitates this process though? God, and that is what Muslims believe, we don't deny evolution, atleast I don't, but I believe it to be done by God not just by itself. Let me put it this way:
When you look at a button, visually you think by pressing the button the light turns on and that just the button (evolution) being pressed is giving you light, but what is unseen is the wiring (God).
