@ippazzi Awesome tone(s) and demo. I've watched all of your videos and am in love with your playing. What scale(s) are you using here? It sounds too exotic to be just a pentatonic...maybe a little bit of A Dorian? Or are do you just use notes that sound good, based off of muscle memory?
@cowboycliche022 Hey thanks for your kind words! I mainly solo based of the pentatonic but do have a mish mash of things in there that is simply based off of years of trying different things... im not really scales/theory guy... so im afraid i cant be any more specific than that.
@Richo18 i hear you on the mic... the amps were up loud enough for the tubes to begin to saturate... unfortunately this was a touch too much for the mic we used :(
Thank you. Painting is by JoEllen Petronzi. Subject is the site at Delphi Greece overlooking the ruins of the Temple of Apollo. Parnassus mountains, home of the nine muses is in the background. Painting from photo taken on site by the artist.
Amazing tone! I'm curious, what Seymour Duncan Antiquities do you have in the strat? Are they the Surf set? I was looking at them, or maybe a set of Fralin Blues Specials or even the Seymour Duncan Antiquity Texas Hots? Too many pickups, so little time...an money.
have you tried Two Rock Studio Pro? If yes, can you tell us how it sounds compared to the Jet? Also have you tried Headstrong Lil King S? Headroom wise, which of the 3 has the biggest?
Just want to know which amp to get, wanting a really nice clean amp. Liking the 1 channel idea of the Studio Pro
@VelhosNovos I LOVE the clean tone on the Two-Rock. It all depends on how loud you need the amp to be... what venues your playing. I'd recommend getting the jet with the 6L6s just to be certain it stays clean for longer.
It's a shame you didn't push the vibroverb a bit more (vol on about 6). That is when you will really hear it at its best. Sadly that level is also going to upset the nieghbours too but what the hell, you gotta hear that vibroverb at a higher volume setting to truly appreciate its tone. nIce chops though.
Thanks for a good demo of these amps. This may have been asked before, but is your '64 Vibroverb actually that, or is it the re-issue? Also, where are you on the volume controls during your demo?
@victorgoldfarb its the real deal all original... with a new eminence 15" speaker. Vol controls varied on each amp... the vibro was the lowest respecitvely probably around 3-4 cant remember exactly...
Two Rock is absolutely amazing. In your opinion what is the best amp that could get me somewhere near this tone for $1000 approx. Currently use a blues junior texas red but would like a bigger tone. Woould a deluxe reverb reissue do the trick?
@dkfone a good step up from the blues junior is the Deluxe reverb. My father has one and they sound pretty great stock. You can also experiment with different speakers and tubes and get even better tone out of them. I like the celeston or eminence speakers.
sorry if i sound stupid here or attract any salty looks but just wanna know is it possible to get an amp producing almost similar tones from the two rock, like similar circuitry parts and all but Without the brand name? (i don't mean counterfeit) :/ paying over 7-8 grand for one to me is a luxury i think i can do without but don't get me wrong, i'm asking this cos i love these amps.. Thanks for any help i can get haha
@popcorny11, If you are looking for that really nice Bass frequency and high end clarity, I would heavily suggest checking out the Fender Blues Reissue series. If you are looking for power there is the 4x10 Fender Blues Deville reissue which is phenomenal, But if you are looking for a small amp with uncanny tone, the 1x12 Blues Reissue is THE most solid 1 speaker amp I've plugged into.
@62Hotrod603 THANK YOU so much man hahaha i thought i was just asking silly questions cos the truth is you always get what you pay for. I understand that fact but as a 20yr old still studying in university, why the hell in my right mind would i throw down 8k on an amp unless of course i plan to make it a career. so Yes thanks alot i'll go check it out! how much is the market price for the Fender Blues Deville reissue?? btw im a huge fender fan haha :)
@popcorny11 No Problem dude that's not a silly question at all because I am in the exact same boat. the 1x12 Blues reissue is something like 7-800 bucks? if you step it up to the 4x10 for $1,000 it really delivers. However I have noticed, that with the 4x10, I lose a little bit of that fat punch with bass notes, however that could just be some tonal issue. But yeah man, definitely test them out and give them a whirl! You won't regret it.
Very hard to choose in between. Very interesting since we are talking about Tone and personalities. All 3 sparkles. Playing in the room with a Budget teaser, hummmm. Let's talk about harmonics. You got them all so... Thanx for the demo. Nice job. Conclusion, making a deal in any of them will liberate a great Tone anyhow.
Hey all, Thanks very much for your kind and inquisitive comments! I've received a few questions about the chords on the loop... i'll try and remember what they were and post a quick demo explaining them when I get a chance. Thanks again everyone!
dude i wanna jam to ur loop soo bad..is there any way u can put up the chords or tabs? I'd really appreciate it...and ur totally amazing..just nailed it!!!!
Great Demo! I love the 64 Vibroverb the best, although, when playing more of single notes, riffing some blues licks the Two-Rock seemed to have a better SRV tone, if that's what your looking for.
Anything special with your strat (pick-ups)? Great job bro!
I've listended to this before, and I heard this time the TR sounding a little more "boxey" this time around. Have you ever played a Jet head through a 1x12 cab, that would be a great comparison IMO, as cost is virtually the same.
Maybe he thinks Mayer has really good tone? He is considered by many to have the best tone in the world (myself included). And even so whats wrong with playing one of the best archtop (L5) and an amp with one of the cleanest sounds in the world? (Two Rock) I'm super jealous I want an L-5. The strat speaks for itself cause its the most popular electric guitar in the world..
I'm sorry to sound negative, JM is a huge influence on me and he does have amazing tone. I was just taken back when I saw that big jazz box that is the same as JM's from the Where the Light Is DVD.
true.but you should say john is badass just like them. man don't get me wrong, mayer is awesome, but he isn't even in the same galaxy as SRV or Hendrix.
I would definitely take the two rock amp (if i could afford it).. plus its smaller.. I heard the vibroverb is too loud for home.. thats what anthony from stevie snacks said..
hey all thanks for your comments! To answer some questions...the pedals used were a maxon 999 analogue delay, a zendrive and tube screamer ts9 (unaltered).
Aghhhh, I still can't decide what tone I like more... the archtop or the strat. Guess I love both! Man, love the tone you're getting in this video, can listen to this jam all day!
