  • looks like AAA fire in Baghdad..

  • hahahhaahah :D cool

  • Low crime, lots of freedom, non-corrupt government, nice, respectful and polite people that have common sense. Seems like an amazing place to live.

  • ITS UFO'S IDIOTS !!!

  • perfect time for a shooting...

  • I wonder if you could see this from space.

  • TheFlyerBill look it up

  • Wish u had a high quality camera for this:)

  • How did you guys organize all of this? I've got to do something like that here.

  • @zildjianuo7 It is not ‘organised’ per se. It is a societal anarchical fest you see! What one does is to just trot off to one of the annual salespots of some local rescue squad or a sportsclub of your choice and buy fireworks at outrageously expensive prices, (family packs and firework cakes are very popular). Then on the last day of the year you spend some quality time with your family and make sure that everybody practise common sense handling fireworks..

  • Hahahahaha popcorn :D

  • This is the most amazing thing i have ever seen, next to Star Wars.

    Love from Louisiana

  • much better than shock and awe

  • @solverh i look forward to this coming year video from you!! HD PLEASE :) :)

  • nice.

  • Rest of Europa borrow money to you,

and you guys shoot those moneys to the sky ...

    Brilliant! 8-D

  • @RolloPeikko This is not government funded display of pyrotechnics, nor is it payed by bankster barons or speculators who don’t care if they bankrupt whole communities or countries for their own selfish greed! These fireworks are payed by normal everyday working people, with their own hard earned money. Most of it goes to supporting the rescue squads who are populated by volunteers who risk their lives to help saving lives in a country where nature often stirs lethally. This is not wasted money‼

  • @RolloPeikko The word is "lend" not borrow. Borrow is the opposite.

  • @RolloPeikko Strange how you could not read what he was posting, but you are able to form words. Strange.

  • Excelente video. Antes mi pais Venezuela era asi los años nuevo. 1 sola vez al año y era increible en verdad. Simplemente unico

  • Pretty much the same thing in Denmark :)

  • I'm a little jealous. Wow!

  • Awesome not I wish u were closer

  • Wow looks like the City is under attack

  • Anyone else think this must counter the funds they make from the fireworks with the amount of fires the fire service must have to put out? :P

  • There they go causing yet ANOTHER smoke cloud towards Europe, damn. LOLOL

  • Lol lets start a riot

  • Cool

  • Is this after of before you have the gay sex orgy?

  • No wonder the ice sheets are melting.

  • type won before youtube to go to a website that u can win stuf from

  • "the rescue squads only source of income is to sell fireworks" BAHAHAHAHAHA. Rescue squads selling fireworks to the public... only in Reykjavik, wherever the fuck that is.

  • "Ancient Greeks and Romans celebrated New Year on the winter solstice"

Pagan Roman emperor Julius Caesar first established January 1 as New Year's day in 46 b.c. in honor of one of his Pagan god Janus . Janus was the Roman pagan god of doors and gates, and had two faces, one looking forward and one back. "January" the month named after this Pagan god Janus ,rituals of getting drunk and taking part in sexual activities , was a way the pagan Romans pay tribute to honor their pagan god Janus.

  • we used to have it like this here in norway too, but then the government put a stop to it

  • hooooooooo

  • Where in Reykjavik did you record this footage?

  • For success

    Come find a home

  • Most impressive!

  • Iceland....I love you.

    Sincerely,

    Texas

  • That's how it's done, goddamnit

Vancouver take a lesson from this.

  • well at vancouver they have competitions between different countries timed with music... this is jus going all out and blowing shiii up hahah this is pretty c0ol though must be deaf by the end of it though haha

  • Good videa, thanks for the background explanations. Definitely want to get to Reykjavik again.

  • Thank you, and you are welcome. Thought that the superimposed explanations were less intrusive to the footage than the ones offered by YouTube. When back in Reykjavik for New Years "anarchical fireworks fest" just make sure to don the free safety glasses (soon to be mandatory) and highly recommend to buy your fireworks from the most deserving proprietors, The Rescue Squads. :)

  • @solverh yo mama bitch!

  • Last year, there were STILL some people shooting up at around 5 am in Gardur, Iceland.

  • new year in iceland is awesome .... happy new 2010 from lithuania

  • 5:55 crazy firework

  • brilliant footage not like those crappy shaking footage of fireworks

  • Wow thats crazy

  • I´ve lived in Iceland 5 years and can´t imagine spending my new years anywhere else! You should try spending one in Vestmannaeyjar. A few years ago the weather was so good it rained ashes from the fireworks all over the island and we had to take cover under a roof, there was so much smoke I could´ve sworn a volcano had erupted! And the echoing from the fireworks in the cliffs around made it seem like you were in war! It was so intense and awesome. But a little wind would have made it perfect!

  • i cant imagine how lovely it would be at new year with NO wind at all.. u crying as there was no wind? its my never becoming dream!

  • That is incrediable. Iceland da Sh!t . I Wanna go there next year just for the fireworks.Nice work, great video :)

  • its funny, There is commedy show every new year around 22:00 - 23:30 i think, EVERYONE on iceland watch it, and the funny thing is... u can hear 1 firework during the show, and about 5 mins after, everything goes CRAAAZY!
