@zildjianuo7 It is not ‘organised’ per se. It is a societal anarchical fest you see! What one does is to just trot off to one of the annual salespots of some local rescue squad or a sportsclub of your choice and buy fireworks at outrageously expensive prices, (family packs and firework cakes are very popular). Then on the last day of the year you spend some quality time with your family and make sure that everybody practise common sense handling fireworks..
this is such a great way to celebrate. where i live, we shoot fireworks a lot, but not even close to as much as you do. it's a perfect idea t chase away the dark of winter for one luminous moment. i think i have to go to reykjavik for new year's eve someday.
omg this was fantastic im amazed! in my country there not much of this kind of celebration we burn mannequins its in ecuador its much more festive but less fun than this you can bright the sky !!
wow, you guys surely know how to celebrate. Its always during New years that I realize that the USA is more the land of the laws than free. Specifically since most states (not all) have a no firework law. I wished we celebrated like you guys do. That looks soo fun. Happy New years...
@RolloPeikko This is not government funded display of pyrotechnics, nor is it payed by bankster barons or speculators who don’t care if they bankrupt whole communities or countries for their own selfish greed! These fireworks are payed by normal everyday working people, with their own hard earned money. Most of it goes to supporting the rescue squads who are populated by volunteers who risk their lives to help saving lives in a country where nature often stirs lethally. This is not wasted money‼
"the rescue squads only source of income is to sell fireworks" BAHAHAHAHAHA. Rescue squads selling fireworks to the public... only in Reykjavik, wherever the fuck that is.
I recently formed a band with some of my buddies, and with enough support, we can get recognition! help us out!! Visit my channel and rate my videos!!!
"Ancient Greeks and Romans celebrated New Year on the winter solstice"
Pagan Roman emperor Julius Caesar first established January 1 as New Year's day in 46 b.c. in honor of one of his Pagan god Janus . Janus was the Roman pagan god of doors and gates, and had two faces, one looking forward and one back. "January" the month named after this Pagan god Janus ,rituals of getting drunk and taking part in sexual activities , was a way the pagan Romans pay tribute to honor their pagan god Janus.
well at vancouver they have competitions between different countries timed with music... this is jus going all out and blowing shiii up hahah this is pretty c0ol though must be deaf by the end of it though haha

I´ve lived in Iceland 5 years and can´t imagine spending my new years anywhere else! You should try spending one in Vestmannaeyjar. A few years ago the weather was so good it rained ashes from the fireworks all over the island and we had to take cover under a roof, there was so much smoke I could´ve sworn a volcano had erupted! And the echoing from the fireworks in the cliffs around made it seem like you were in war! It was so intense and awesome. But a little wind would have made it perfect!
its funny, There is commedy show every new year around 22:00 - 23:30 i think, EVERYONE on iceland watch it, and the funny thing is... u can hear 1 firework during the show, and about 5 mins after, everything goes CRAAAZY!
