The joy of a Leica was always the quickness of the shutter release. The Decisive Moment. When you see the action peak, your shutter fires -no frustrating delay. Cameras in the last twenty years - most AF, compacts, any P&S - have slowed down and make you wait for some period before your shutter fires, usually too late. I was very pleased when Nikon came out with the D70 and brought back some of that quickness. If this Leica can shoot like an M3 they may have a winner.
That is all nice and well but for that kind of money you could buy all your equipment for your own business, including lighting gear, design and develop your site, branding and list is almost endless. I think this WAY too expensive. If this is best glass in the world well it's certainly NOT T that much better than cams from Japan.
After all, do Leica and Hasselblad really think that Japanese giants (Canon, Nikon) will fall asleep and not enhance their products? Canon will release 37MP cam soon.
@rucka12 Yes, Canon will soon have a 37MP Camera. On a smaller sensor. Medium Format has a different look, and pixels alone don't tell the whole story.
@rucka12 still waiting your dick 1 year latter where are those 37mp sensors, Canon representative now said that less mps is better on APS and Full frame systems, dick this is a Medium format (45 x 30 mm sensor) bigger than a canon D1x or the Nikon D4 sensor, so they can play with 37.5 mp if they want to.
Well, it seems like I stand corrected. What do I know anyways? I only use about $30,000 of camera gear. I guess the S2 is only a small part of my day.
After seeing your videos, I bow to your great videography skills. You must be quite aware of basic electronics theory that clearly indicate that proximity of sensors affect accuracy. As well as the fact that is not the body that delivers image quality, but the lens.
I'm going to guess that you shoot with a disposable Walmart camera.
Obviously someone is suffering a case of jealousy... I admit, the S2 is a ridiculous concept until you actually use it. The combination of the gorgeous RAWs with amazing amounts of dynamic range and the Leica glass, it blows the d40 out of the water! You must be crazy to even to think that any consumer grade camera even compares.
What do you mean by can't crop 37 megapixels? Last time I checked, the Nikons (except the D3x) only go up to 12 MP. Check your facts before rambling!
I would love to justify taking out a loan for one of these, but within 5 years, the performance of the Canon/Nikon 35mm format cameras will have matched it, and I'll have spent that $25k on lenses shooting at 21+ megapixels.
