Marichal was a great pitcher, the best NL pitcher of the 60's. Even the amazing Bob Gibson has written and said so many times, and in his mind Gibson is second fiddle to no one ! As to the Johnny Roseboro incident, Roseboro made clear that he actually started it by almost hitting Marichal on purpose, actually almost hitting Marichal's ear when he threw the ball back to Koufax while Marichal was batting. But that's water under the bridge. Indeed, they became very good friends afterwards.
