I feel kinda weird becoming a Green Day fan mere weeks before American Idiot was released, having gotten AI for my 12th bday (it came out the day after). Having said that, they quickly claimed the #1 spot and I can now say I can play every song on guitar and I have 2 Green Day tattoos. I have the Adeline Skull on my finger and the Heart Grenade on my bicep. And Letterbomb is my favorite song by my favorite band, so in my eyes, it's the greatest song ever written.

Green Day kicks ass because they can get such large and important messages and energy out in a very simple songs.  Sure, almost anyone can write a decent three-chord 4/4 song, but Green Day aren't "decent", they're fucking international legends who say what they want, how they want. Truly remarkable.
