@PSR873269 There is no simple explanation. The market is complex. The biggest factor was that you had all these consoles and games coming out and there was only a limited amount of store space and there was no system of quality control.
All in all your video is good in explaining the video game crash, however some things could be better.
1. Like already mentioned in my previous post it would've been better not to use an emulator. However if you don't have the equipment to capture the gameplay from the real hardware, you could've said some sentences about why it looks slightly different.
2. They produced more copies of Pac-Man than there were systems, but not of E.T. It's a common misconception.
If you play it on a real TV instead of an emulator, you don't have any problems seeing all 4 ghosts. The technical limitations of a CRT screen are actually exploited to counteract the limitations of the console: There's always an after-image on the screen, so they never become invisible, they merely look transparent.
Still I agree 2600 Pac-Man was disappointing, it's pretty obvious. But it's not fair to add problems that are introduced by modern hardware to the list
To see a good demonstration of this search for a video about the Atari 2600 game "Dragonfire" by a user named "Highretrogameblood89" (or propably the majority of videos showing Dragonfire gameplay) and compare it to the video about the same game by either dommiesan (classic games revisited) or InecomCompany (classic game room)...
I've nothing to do with any of these videos or the users/shows, I just think it serves well to illustrate the issue.
Wow man! Did not know that video gaming almost died in the early 80's. I mean, I knew the E.T. game for the 2600 sucked as well as their port for Pac-Man, but I didn't know about how home computers factored into this.

Basically, they thought the popularity of the arcade version of Pac-Man and the movie E.T. would promate sales. It didn't.
