  • He controlled the weight, didn't make animal noises, and did a great set with heavy weight. That's not a lunk; that's a serious lifter.

  • If your knees have to be mummified during your squat, take those straps off and lift lighter. Heavy lifting is stupid, more reps with a lighter weight dude.

  • I see one in every ten people who squat this correctly (or this deep) at my gym. Most of it is the half-squat shit from guys with tooth-pick legs and large arms.

  • Big word here, take your time powerlifters: kinesiology. Any time your knee goes over your ankle, the weight is fully on the ligaments around your patella at some point. Put on another plate, enjoy those sharp knee and back pains at age 45.

  • @Obsidian1392 Powerlifting in ANY form is extremely hard on ligaments and joints. Squats are a primitive exercise and are no longer viable in today's society. The man in the video, with the build he was granted, is putting far too much strain on his ligaments. The only viable squat would be a 90 degree squat leaning into a smith/jones machine. The wear and tear from squats and deadlifts will catch up to you, I promise.

  • @lolkthxbyez by relying on a machine to stabilize the weight you are forcing the weights to be locked into an unnatural position. everyones body is built differently so while squatting the weights dont follow a straight path for everyone which is what happens when you use a smith machine

  • @lolkthxbyez Smaller word: physics (which fully encompasses kinesiology without the need to be pompous). The force on your patellar ligaments increases proportionally with how far your knee goes over your ankle, as in [r x cos(theta)] if theta is the angle your shin-bone makes with the floor. Its not like all of a sudden ALL the force is on your patellar tendon right after a certain point. I hope thats not what they teach you in kinesiology.

  • Just to clear something up, going parallel or slightly below is not 100% ROM. He pulled an excellent lift and it would be a passing lift by any competition standards, but he could in fact go farther down, thus it was not 100% range of motion. It was an excellent squat and extremely impressive. Not trying to knock him at all, just saying its not 100% ROM unless you go as far down as possible, which would mean his hamstrings would be pressed up against his calves.

  • @joethecrow23 Also it's more than 405 on the bar, there is what appears to be either a 25lb or a 10lb plate on the end. So below parallel squat with 425 or 455, awesome man! Keep up the good work.

  • @joethecrow23 Well I will counter that that's not full range of motion either because there is still space between the floor and his ass. What you just described is a 95% range of motion squat. A full 100% range of motion squat is one in which you leave a brown stain on the floor after every rep.
