  • They appear to be using two types of coupler in New Zealand: the old "meat chopper" type and the AAR type. Do they maintain separate classes of wagon equipped with one or the other or do they use an adaptor?

  • Yes they use an adapter between the two. As far as I know, they will all eventually be changed over to the American style coupler to increase the loads that can be hauled. Cheers
