It wasn't all bad though... through some great coincidence my laptop was having issues, and i had swapped in a spare 60gb drive for the one i was using, so i didn't lose any of my precious data :) Now i just have it in a usb enclosure.
Does it have better compatibility with Video Cards and motherboards? with Fiesty and I had install using my onboard videocard since it did not work with my nvidia. sucked a lot because you can't use beryl without it and my screen res was no more than 1024x768. :/
does what have better compatibility? compiz works out-of-the-box on the eee pc, which has an intel onboard 3d accelerator. nvidia cards have always worked well for me in the past (just enable the restricted driver, it should pop up a message in the system ray about it).
Also, though compiz is cool, e17 is a much better WM, i use it on my desktop as well.
I was never able to install with nvidia, when I install with my onboard and switch to my nvidia and restart I get this error so I can't log on.. I tried compiz, beryl.. never heard of e17 though.. my main concern is my screen resolution and I yet have found a good solution for it.
what nvidia card? Ubuntu recognized my 7600 and 7900 just fine, and set the proper resolution for each (one is a 1280x800 LCD). Maybe you should give gutsy a try. WM = windouw manager, such as compiz, metacity (the gnome/ubuntu default). After install open the Restriced Driver manager (System -> Administration i think) and click the checkbox next to "Nvidia". i think compiz will turn itself on after that

Hey there,
Really nice video- I'd never heard of enlightenment before, now an instant convert!
2 quick questions if that's ok: what model of the eeepc is this running on, and what method did you use to capture the screen?
Thanks!

the eee pc was one of the first-gen ones. 7" screen, 4gb storage, no web cam. newegg has like a 20% discount or something when i bought it.
I think i captured it with gtk recordMyDesktop. its simple and fast and has very good quality.
Unfortunately, both my eee pc and my alienware laptop were robbed some time after i made this video, otherwise i might have made more.

Is there a video teaching keyboard shortcuts, and commands for Ubuntu? I still don't understand the "workspace"
I have only a 254 MB RAM computer to try this on for the moment...

Yeah I have a 7600, I did install the restricted drivers but I was still not able to change my resoultion higher than 1024x768.
I'm going to download Gutsy right now actually.

If you manually installed the drivers then you sometimes have to manually add the resolution to your xorg.conf as well.
