  • HI. Thank you very much for these videos. I have managed to obtain the basics of Inkscape and hope to use it much more. l have one problem that l would like you to assist me with. I can group pieces into one piece, my main problem is the duplicated shapes, where am finding it impossible to click them(holding down shift button) because they are below exactly the same shape. I hope you understand my question.

  • @tatenda80

If you hold the Alt key while left-clicking on the object, it will select the object underneath. You might be interested in watching another video that I made titled "Inkscape Tutorial - Selecting Hard-To-Select Objects."

  • Well done.

One tip: You can avoid having to line up the top layer if you move it. Just drop it wherever and hi Ctrl + Z. That will snap it back one step. It's a few seconds quicker and we all know how important that can be.

    from italy

  • Thanks very much!I always wanted a button like that!

  • Thank you for posting this. I've wondered about how this effect was created, and you've made it seem very easy to do.

  • I can create the glossy effect quite easily, but when I try to export the image as a png, the background stays. Is there a way to remove the background, or make it transparent for use with Rocket Dock?

    Thanks In Advance

  • nice tutorial -

is it actually necessary to use duplicate so often? You can apply a gradient from one arbitrary color to another, not only to transparent.
