Ed Blackely came to New Orleans, stole a few hundred thousand dollars, then did absolutely nothing. He rode a bicycle through a part of the city as a photo op and that's it. When Los Angeles was rioting we were dancing with each other at the Jazz Fest. This guy Blakely should be ashamed stabbing us in the back like this. He has no business commenting on ANYTHING about New Orleans. He was here for a couple of hours. Screw Ed Blakely.

He did say that everyone was a racist and that it was more obvious in New Orleans than any other place HE has seen. How could we argue what he has seen? For his eyes only. I have lived in New Orleans for 22 years, and all my life in the Deep South. Obviously racism exists, but I find it less so here than anywhere else I've lived. Ed Blakely is the biggest hypocrite I've ever encountered. He has a lot of nerve making these negative statements about us when he never "lived" here. All he did was travel the world on our dime, doing nothing when he was actually here. What happened to those "cranes in the sky" he promised us? Despicable!

Allow me to add another point: New Orleanians are committed to rebuild this city regardless of race. That "blood in the water" line is utter BS. Outsiders love to paint a racial picture of this city. I am from New Orleans also, and it is true Blakey did nothing to help with the recovery. He just help his self to a large amount of the money that could have help in the City's recovery. All he did was created walking paths in areas that need schools, business, and housing. He is one of the reasons why this city has a budget problem. He was not a friendly person. He would not speak to you when you pass him in the streets. How could someone like that help with our recovery. Glad you are gone.

I am from New Orleans. HE DID NOTHING! Many people wanted to work. We have had meetings, organizations, coalitions, etc. Still nothing. He helped to marginalize the people by staying away from us. His actions reflected his non desire to be in this city's recovery team. Shame on him. He promised false hope while cashing in on us. He is not the firast and he won't be the last. First, there is a lot he says that I agree with. There is no city government. There is no state government. There is no federal government. Secondly, this man had NOTHING to do with the recovery of the city. He stole his hefty salary and was a non-presence in the recovery. It was the citizens of New Orleans and the volunteers from all over the world that rebuilt the city, not these parasites. He is PATHETIC! PATHETIC! Over $100,000 paid for his part-time hot air.

Ed Blakely is an unqualified person who was working for City Government in New Orleans. If City Government should not have been involved in the recovery, why did he accept the $150,000 per year job. Thanks Mr. Blakely for wanting to quit earlier but hanging on and collecting a paycheck and basically doing nothing. He's another lazy racist. Collect the paycheck from the Big Banana and not do a GDT.
