That must have been the last time the original members played together.Tommy McCook (looking at his watch near the end) Lester Sterling, next to him alto sax, Lloyd Brivett bass, Lloyd Knibbs drums, Ras Jonnie Moore trumpet, Carl Bradshaw (Harder They Come, actor) MC and dancer. Rollie alto sax, Jakie Mitto keyboard, Ras Dizzy guitar
@jimmyjimmyjimjim2293 ,gansters was a spin off,of prince busters al capone,done by the specials,listen to prince buster as he spells the chune,my name is C A P O N E,CAPONE AL CAPONE,not scarface,capone,
Oh man... Lloyd Brevett on that big old double bass of his...
Now my mind is a bit cloudy after all these years but I thought that Roland Alphonso was at the Mean Fiddler that night, but thinking about it now it could have been Tommy McCook... I believe that they both passed in 98. If it was Tommy it means I got to see the great man and didn't even realise it at the time.... Anyone else remember theline up that night back in the mid 90's in Harlesden ?
Now that you mention it - I do remember them introducing Roland Alphonso actually... but I also have a distinct memory of Tommy McCook being there - his face is very recognizable to me.. but then it was a long time ago..

they do a little lick that the specials must've borrowed in their song "Gangster" . . . or did the skatalites borrow from the specials????
colemontelongo 1 year ago
the specials lifted it from here,
and interestingly, the song 'gangsters' was originally called 'don't call me scarface'
