Great tutorial, it really expedited the learning of this game. It seemed a little overwhelming at first, but it starts to make sense after plowing through the first game. I can see it taking a few more plays before I can start devising more complex strategies, but that just makes me want to play more. Anyway, great job guys.
Thank you! Excellent job! It's great that you took the time to think out your entire video and put together an excellent tutorial. Keep up the good work!
Thanks very much! Even though I have read the rules and have a solid understanding of the game, this offered some very good ways to explain the game to people. Great job!
I finally got the game, and I pretty much dominate the rules, but now i need to practice to develop some strategies.
I figured that every time we play the person that goes for the military force strategy, meaning that he plays military planets for "free" and always has resources, because of the other players explore, and the bonus for settle, and if someone uses consume and produce even thou he doesnt multiply he gets enough VPs to win, how can you counter this?
There are three threads on the RFTG forum on boardgamegeek that are useful. But Youtube won't let me post them in a comment.
The thread titles are: Military Unbeatable? 285285 , Does the player with the higest Military allways win?? 377799 , and RFTG General Strategy Guide 295249. You'll have to find them yourself because Youtube sucks.
hey its me again, know i understand the game 99% but i am having a little issue, every time we play the person that goes for the millitary develpoment strategy (focuses on military power and pretty much allways plays the settle card) allways wins, because with settle he allways draws cards, and he can play planets for "free", so with your experiense, what will balance the game against military forces??
The consume face makes you use ALL the goods to get the powers, either VPs or cards, thats clear, but then how could you explain the use of powers like in cards like: Free trade "discard up to 3 "blues" for 1vp and a card apice? couldn't i do the same with out that power? same with diversified economy and mining conglomarate? other than that everything is clear....and again very very nice tutorial!
Good question. The standard consume power only consumes ONE good, and can't be reused in the same Consume phase. The "up to" consume powers consume a variable number of goods, but when activated consume the maximum they can. Diversified Economy consumes precisely 3 goods, which all have to be different.

Very well done on a clear well spoken tutorial for which I am truly grateful,
I am finding this game a little tricky to grasp, but I am not going to give up on it
I know it's going to be great once I get there.
