The best indication of that is when he stole his bike and later said he was looking for Kaneda's bike. The mutation was to show that Tetsuo could not control his body so much so to the extent that it was becoming a giant fleshy mass of organs vaguely resembling a human. Although it was important and I loved the scenery, it was disgusting and hard to watch.

IF they create a live movie they should at least tape it in Tokyo and keep as close to the story line of the original movie as they can. Otherwise it might end like Dragon Ball.

Actually the film isn't canceled its set to be released in 2011 and their going to base it off the manga and that its going to be two movies instead of just one...and Leo is still in it as I've read...

@Krybo ive probably seen more eastern and western films than you and my comment is just a joke. i'd be an idiot not to recognize eastern directors like takeshi miike, fukusaku kinji, bong joon ho, park chan wook, and ect. but typically in japan more attention is paid towards western and animated film which alot of times scares film makers out of taking risks that western ones take lightly

This is quite obviously a fan made attempt at the trailer, and it's a pretty decent effort as well...HOWEVER, yes Hollywood are going to balls up one of the most influential anime's ever as they attempt to remake the milestone that is Akira...it's going to be a travesty...
