Watching the show from the beginning again, I notice that Ari was written as less abrasive, less funny. This is nothing new--most pilot characters develop there quirks AFTER audiences and ratings warm to them. Think Kramer in the first Seinfeld or Phebe in Friends. She wasn't a real waif until audiences warmed to her. If you watch it carefully, it was only after Season 1 that Ari really started to become TRULY epic.
