For my first year I lived in the WAPDA Guage Readers Marquee Tent at the Old Cableway on the left bank. I was in TJV accountancy office. There were 14 gauge readers paod full time to read 14 gauges twice a day but the head gauge reader sent them all to village and did the job himself filling the weekly report in half an hour sitting on his charpai without looking at a single gauge. He'd take the report to office and once a month the others came from village to collect salary. What a good time!!!
So thank you Tarbela Dam it was a great thing in my life although when I went back to see it a few years ago they said foreigners are not allowed it's top secret. Then I saw that the US Commandoes who killed Bin Laden in Attobadab were based in Ghazi just next to Sobra Coluney!
Anyway long live Pakistan it's the best place I ever lived in and may those corrupt officers and violent beardies who ruined that country all go to hell. The people of Hazara and Frontier are the best people I ever knew!
So then they gave me job to get back 4 million rupees that WAPDA had cheated out of TJV by fixing the bijli meters and it took me 1 year with help of HRH Brigadier Effendi I got the refund from WAPDA.
After 4 years I left and by then I'd save a lot of money from my salary so I got 6 Afghan horses from Kunduz and built a place at Madyan in Swat and lived there another 5 years. I kept the place and visited every year after I left in 1979 but it got washed away in the floods last year -nothing left
Hello everyone Tarbela Dam saved my life I was a penniless hippie traveller who'd spent a year in India when I got a job with TJV in June 1968 thanks to WAPDA Chief Camp Commandant Rafiq Khan head of Dragri Village who took me to Dr Baldassirrini just after he arrived and told him "this is my friend please give him a job". Baldassirrini asked "how much salary you want" I said "1200 rupees" he said "OK but we have no AC flat for you for 2 weeks will you wait?" I said yes I'm sleeping on riverbank

many 60 year old engineers for TAMS in NYC back in 1980.They designed the dam. Now I 62 years old and cannot even see the project because Americans are hated by many people in Pakistan. Sure makes you wonder about the world.
I worked on the large gates.
Does anyone know how well the high pressure radial gates worked.
