  • god damn it. I needed 3 hours to change my first broken case. And thats like 10-15 minutes he used in normal time

  • is there a piece of glass in front of the top screen?

  • do you need to soulder to do this?

  • My DS is really fucked up.

Somehow, the entire device is warped badly and the top screen is cracked. I can still turn it on, but even when i do, neither of the screens light up at all. What's worse is the serial number on the device is nowhere to be found, so the warranty is already void.

  • @mamhardrive2 buy new DS screens. they're not hard to find nor install

  • guys its really not tht hard, and i abused the crap out of the flat wire and my ds ended up working perfectly even though i treated the wire like crap, the only way you will break the wire is if you want to break it.just be careful and you should be done in no time

  • I tried to replace the case with a black one and during the process the flatwire tore in half.We did everything right but still it tore while we were attatching it to the mother board.I watched your video and saw that you screwed in the screws for the top screen at the end.Whereas we did it right after we assembled it.Does it make any difference? Please reply

  • Nice =)

But why choose pink when there are better colors?

  • It might be a spare DS Lite laying around with no broken hinge.

  • Oh, yeah maybe, I'd just buy a new one though, I bought a transparent shell replacement and it looks nice

  • cause pink is awsome

  • Engineer my ass! Touching circuit boards with your hands, tsk tsk...

  • it would only shock him if the power was on......

  • You have no idea what you are talking about do you?

It's not about the board shocking him. It's about him frying the board with electrostatic discharge from his fingers!

  • ON AN ORIGINAL DS can i replace the top screen shell without opening the main ds

  • Ofcourse you can't xD You'll have to open it, good luck xD

  • he means u only open the top half cuz thats where phillip screws are. theyre under the rubber pads

  • do u need an another ds

  • if its that easy how much does nintendo charge for that and will it fix my loose hinge problem?

  • Of course.

  • If under warranty it's $50 if out of warranty it's $75. They used to fix it for free at the beginning but now they charge you. Your best bet is to trade it in at gamestop.

  • Man I would to have a job here at work with these peoples!

  • Wats This Song called very catchy and nice repair

  • Are there any stores in LA/San Diego/San Francisco seling these? im going there on vacation in december and i need to fix my ds..

  • could you make the same video, only next time, dont fast foward it. i cant keep up.

  • I have a quick question. How did you remove the touch screen frame? I just replaced my own shell and that's the only part I cannot remove.

  • hi, i have a ds lite and i dropped it on hardwood, so the corner where the light is broke. everything is still working but we have to duct tape the two sides to keep it todgether. is there a way to get a new case without buying the actual ds?

  • Band of Horses - Island on the Coast

  • I hope to do the same with my pink DS lite. Except using a sweet custom shell from DealExtreme. They have limited edition DS Lite replica cases for about $30-40 a piece.

  • I would never advise buying non official NDS cases. They rarely go together properly, and can often damage your DS beyond repair.

  • What about the SHOCK cases?

  • At Console Doctor, we have experienced problems with ALL third party cases, including Shock cases.

  • And you have not experienced problems with the official NDS cases? I find that kinda hard to believe.

Let me rephrase the question: Assuming that there are more users with Shock-cases than there are with official ones because they're cheaper and more popular, is there a noteworthily greater percentage of broken replacement jobs involving Shock-cases than there are involving official ones?

  • I would seriously question the assumption that there are more users with third party NDS lite cases. Although I would agree that most repair companies would favour these cases over the official NDS due to cost.

All I can tell you, that in the course of the many case replacements we do at Console Doctor (due the obvious problem with weakened hinges on the official cases) we find that they are far fewer problems when assembling using official NDS cases than when using 3rd party cases.

  • Alright, thanks for your reply. Though I would still say that *among* third party cases, Shock might still be your best bet.

Now I have recently bought a shock case and I'm trying to get this done as best prepared as I can. I have the tools, I will carefully put all tiny pieces into labelled boxes, I have two vids of a succesfull shell replacement, one detailed tutorial and images of where everything goes. (to be continued...)

  • ... I have read many board posts of unsuccesful replacements and think I know what to pay attention to (especially the flatwire and the switches) and what can go wrong, and at least I have a bit of experience in building desktop PCs.

Do you have any tips on how I could minimize the risk of bricking my DS further?

  • Yes. Send it to Console Doctor. We will fix it, and you'll get a 6 month warranty on the repair.

  • Don't worry, you will not lose a customer by giving me some tips. If I had the money to get my DS repaired by someone who knows what they're doing, I would have done so. But unfortunatly, I don't. Especially if I had to send it overseas.

  • Omg freeeeeking master.Can you fix mine???=)

  • Sheeeeit!!!! even though it was sped up that was still super speedy. i can't believe it woeked at the end too. DS master!
