I know every word, and every note of every song by these guys and never meet people who understand in person. Most of tdays music lacks heart, and this stuff really takes me back to a time and a place that was really great in my life. The big arena shows of the 80s and early 90s were truly unique. Great guitar interplay between Chris and Michael.... It's unfortunate that Chris is no longer with the band. Queensryche without Chris is like Def Leppard without Steve Clark. It's not so much that he was the greatest guitarist in the world, but his songwriting and riffs are what set the band apart from the other metal bands and gave their music that big, epic sound. It doesn't do them justice to call them a metal band because they were so much more than that.

Overlabeling with genres is pointless. Music is music... people appreciate it regardless. Saying grunge sucks because it's an "offshoot" is like saying Rock sucks cause it originated as Blues. It all has something to offer. The music is what's important.

I have to admit, I was unfamiliar with them to a point (my music library is painfully deficient); though I had heard them before on FM, I had not connected the songs with the band. Their covering of Rush is a good choice for their sound, LaBrie's voice is very much like Geddy Lee's (speaking of professors of music).
