I was working as a runner in 2000 when I came across some reels of film labeled 'Dark Blood' in the basement of a production company in Soho. I didn't at the time know the title so I asked around at the office and I was told about the sad and tragic tale of River Phoenix and this abandoned film...

Great footage but very gard to watch...I read that Mr. Sluizer sued the Phoenix Family when river died because did not complete the movie. If that is true what a SIN!!!!

@BedazzleGlitterGal Sluizer did not sue him, the producers and insurance company of the film did. Sluizer had nothing to do with that. cheers.

@BedazzleGlitterGal I may be mistaken but i dont think he personally tried to sue, it would have been his production company ect, in all fairness to him [and please dont take this the wrong way I am a huge River fan] River signed a contract claiming he was clean, River was an adult when he died he knew if he took drugs he could die thats a chance drug addicts take & his family wasnt innocent he was the cash cow they protected him in stead of getting him the help he needed

@kylas124 ,...hello. as i stated i read that he sued but i am not sure its the truth. I do, however, wish he would of released the film. Also, I dont agree with you saying he was a cash cow, The Phoenix family were a unit and everything together as a family, a team...TEAM PHOENIX.Rivers father John desperatley tried to get River help,but River had alot if pain, while that is true, The Phoenix family are decent, genuine people that loved River...he is so ...PEACE

Judy Davis is a brilliantly intelligent and sensitive perceptive woman - she would NEVER have said that vile comment about River deserving to die. In short, Sluzier is making it up because he has never recovered from Judy challenging his mammoth ego.

Yes. In the Dark Blood 1 video, the first guy you see (who is George Sluizer's son) is saying that Dark Blood was a great project and that it sort of fell apart with the death of River. And he says that Sluizer and River had a close relationship and that River's death was like the loss of a son for Sluizer.

George Sluizer is talking about the moment somebody told him River had died and that he couldn't believe it. According to Sluizer, when he saw Judy Davis after that, the first thing she said to him was; he deserved to die, he was an unstable boy. That left him speechless. And Sluizer talks about how difficult Judy Davis was to work with.
