We Will Always Love You Whitney!!! This is the first song of Whitney's I ever heard. She was on a Soap Opera when I was 15 and I have loved her ever since! I am 43 now and I am still behind her today! "Come and make your magic...'til you had me hypnotized...If we get any closer...I'll be drowning in your eyes." What!!!!!!!!!!!
It would not have been romantic, nobody wanted to sing romantic songs with Mj. Whitney, madonna and barbara striesand turned him down. MJ is better singing pop. That is why he is the king of pop.
@Nickleby2 Its true. MJ wanted to duet with either Barbara Striesand or Whitney Houston on 'I Just Can't Stop Loving You'. Whatever the case, it turned out great with the more than competent Siedah Garratt.
@Nickleby2 in fact the Michael we heard in the eighties didn't sing pop music, do you call the albums Off the wall or Thriller pop music?? Don't think so, People started calling him the king of pop in the 90's and it was actually because of Elizabeth Taylor, She almost every type of music pop, and she called him once king of pop and that's how it all started!!! Michael is has just too mucj diversity in his songs, pop rnb he doesn't have a specific genre!!!
liz Taylor got paid handsomely in expensive jewelry for calling Mj king of rock pop and soul. The title was made up by bob jones because Mj was peeved that he didn't have a title like Elvis Presley. Mj ordered Bob Jones to find him a title and Bob jones came up with it, not Liz Taylor.. Using Liz was a publicity stunt. the media never bought it. They were right when they called Mj self proclaimed kop. gained the title but lost his soul after that, and the rest they say is history.
I come from Thailand when i was young i hear this song I think i m riding car to travel around the beautiful city and around the beach but i cannot translate this song i dont know what does song mean hahaha
I think Whitney Houston and Anita Baker are the greatest female R & B singers I have heard in my entire life time. I had this song played at my wedding and I never forgot the magic it created. I'll take this beautiful melody with me to the grave..........
I have this album on cassette and I love playing it.
I have loved Whitney since she appeared on our screens back in the 80's and I remember her first appearance on TOTP when she sang "I Wanna Dance With Somebody". Loved singing to her album "I'm Your Baby Tonight" when it was released - loved every song. She always makes singing look so effortless. The tone and power of her voice is just SECOND 2 NONE. The songs she sings are all my kinda music and I just love her to death.
I have the vinyl 45 of Anne Murray's version (released around the same time time as Whitney's). And yes, this was released as a single as Arista 9275 (with the b-side a Jermaine song).
Dis song is the best romantic duet i've ever heard, plus i think Whitney sounds great and Jemaine sonds better than he ever did in dis sonq cuz usualy he sounds like he can't sing..
I'll never feel the same way listening to Whitney's first album like I ever have before, with the two Jermaine Jackson duets on it after his brother passed away.
i couldn't agree more my friend. it just kinda feels like all this great music somehow ties back to Michael. Could you imagine if there was a duet with Whitney AND Michael? that would have been the ultimate duet!
that duet almost happened! listen to michael's duet with siedah garrett called ' i just can't stop loving you' michael wrote it to sing with either barbra streisand or whitney. for some reason, neither one could do it so he got siedah garrett. it's a beautiful song the way it is but the idea of whitney on that song is mind-boggling
Micheal Jackson wanted Whitney Houston to record his1987 #1 song (I just can't stop loving you) But Whitney didn't have the time to record the song with him. As she was working on her second album at the time.
Actually this a 1984 song since it first appeared on Jermaine's album (it does say that date for that specific song on Whitney's album). It was also used for the end credits for the 8/3/84 episode of As The World Turns.
I've been playing the hell out of this song at home. On my original cassette tape! On Thanksgiving and Christmas too. LOL. This is my favorite Whitney song. I don't know why, it just does something to me. Their voices blend so well together. Jermaine Jackson who would have thought. Best Whitney duet.
Well, it must be a easy to pick, it has a very solid Bass line. Me, as a Basist can tell you that the Bass Groove grabed me so strong. The 80's feel invites me to join the rythm. This is a Bassist song.
@whitneywisdom I agree, played it to death...my favorite whitney track. very dreamy and romantic..and very 80's. Oh how I miss the 80's. "Lover For Life" is my other favorite track, has that same rhythm.
