  • Oh.. forgot something.

    4. Do you keep water constantly running 24 hrs?

Up to the point where it touches the bottom of the pots or...?

  • @KenngeNOR the pump kicked on 4 times a day, nothing over night the tank was NOT big enough for the system but did allow the towers to fill up about 3/4 of the way completely dunking the net pots. yes i only used fish nutrients which worked ok.... i needed more fish and more water for the system. i did need to keep everything light tight, algae will grow REAL fast in a aquaponic system. indoors would be a great idea for this system BUT remember more water, fish, turtles a must

  • @KenngeNOR the snap peas produced loads of pods which i never got a video of. the tomatoes struggled until the system was toppled by a storm and i lost them. the root system on the peas were completely matted up in the pipes... id say there was 10 lbs of root....oh,. i did let a little sunlight in for the fish

  • I have a few questions i hope you could find the time to answer..?

    1. Do you only use fish for nutrients?

    2. I heard that the watercontainer and hoses should be light tight, cause of algae. Isnt this a problem when using fish? (guessing they need light)

    3. Is this setup usable indoors, as i live in colder parts of the world..

    Thankful for answers :)

  • I think you dont have large enough bases to support those plants. You need bigger root balls.

  • UPDATE!!?? :D

  • Where are you located? If its too hot in the summer, maybe you could use a shade cloth.

    Mike

  • @TheSuburbanGardener thanks for the suggestion but i live in south florida and the air temp would still be too hot, over 90 F

  • Hi, there is a group for those who use bluegill. I have been using bluegill, but my system is still cycling. So very unstable at the moment. Nice clean setup i am looking forward to this being my first year of growing with aquaponics.

  • would the south facing plants preform better than the north facing?

  • @happygameshow typically yes but the north plants still get plenty of sun. i can always rotate the tower every month or so

  • @dwiggs77 Really like this system I think ill try to set something like this up for spring. thanks for the info.
