  • 'impossible music', obviously why Zappa started using synclavier. Some of the things on 'Jazz From Hell' are very dense.

  • I was very fortunate to meet Tom Fowler, and he agreed to give me a few lessons, around 1977.

He was in Mesa, AZ for music clinic held by Grant Wolf at Mesa College.

I had just got a Rickenbaker 4001; Tom played it like it was his Alembic ( I had never seen anything like it before)..

He taught me to play with a pick; not something I had considered before. He told me to make my own out of recycled plastic.

He gave me a few lessons for free. Was very giving of his time, thanks so much Tom!

  • I had the great pleasure of meeting Bruce Fowler when he came to New Orleans with Captain Beefheart in 1978. Not only is he a fantastic musician, but also a very nice guy. Cheers to you, Bruce. Looking good!

  • @jimharris84 yup...there also used to be a HONKER HOME VIDEO logo on that wall along with a large poster of Edgard Varese from EMS401.

  • Just me or is this video loud as fuck?

  • @CtrlRm

    Its just you

    its not Loud as Fuck

  • This is my favorite clip from this series of interviews - not superstars or cultural heroes, but some true-blue working musicians who see working with Zappa as the hardest, most rewarding gig ever.

  • Bebop Tango, in Frank's basement office, sweet.
