  • @bloksaspew

Hey Dude, I was there and can only agree with you 100%, It was the BOC Performance of life!!!

I am writing a story about that show so get in touch....

  • IMHO, a better rendition is on the best live album ever: On Your Feet or on Your Knees. If you find it in vinyl, then the universe loves you for some reason.

  • @NAFmunchausen I saw the concert in the early seventies at the Hollywood Florida Sportatorium awesome laser show and yes I am blessed Bought the double Live album the next day. I also saw the Atlanta Fox Theater show featured on the Unenchanted Live single album. Is there any video of this show? Stu

  • This songs rocks so hard its amazing. Early BOC could rock harder than anyone.

  • Sexy jumpsuit lol.

  • I photographed the Cult when they toured with T Rex back in 74. To see the shots go to ianmarkmusicphotos (.com)

  • The Meatmen do a pretty gnarly cover of this.

  • i love their album art.....although i think iron maiden had the best....boston had some kewl ones too with their space shroom ships and all

  • 4 people think this needs more cowbell

  • veteran nih tp masih oke

  • that was a kick ass song!

  • @Lobodomy69 Correction. That IS a good song. Watch those damn tenses...

  • @Korban3 Haha you're right, but I had just finished listening to it when I commented.

  • @Lobodomy69 Awww, I can't stay mad at you!!! \m/

  • @Korban3 yes it still is a great song, saw it last night at the Alameda Co Fair in Pleasanton CA, another great BOC show

  • @kinksboss1 Aww, lucky. Waiting for them to visit Western Washington again.

  • 4 ppl are now on Hot Rails To Hell

  • My favorite BOC album. Saw them in 1973 with The Raspberries, who got booed off of the stage. The first song was The Red and The Black, as they lowered their flag during the first thundering chords of the song. Played most of this album. Thanks for the posting!

  • But Hell never burned the rich man's eyes out. Not even metaphorically.

"And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom" (Luke 16: 23).

  • who ever put dislike will get a visit from the Reaper

  • BOC was so M.O.R.

  • that early b/w pic is so clasic/cool.

  • Too cool!

  • @3:00, I want that horse shirt.

  • This song totally rules. It still not too late to buy all of BOC old albums. I'm catching up as we speak.

  • @tullsterx Thank God. I´ve got them........ :-)

  • Sweet slideshow to go with a great song!

  • Bad-ass song , killer CD...

  • Best Band, cool song, awesome album

  • This is the only song the bass player, Joe Bouchard sang. I don't know why they didn't give him one or two more. He sounds good!

  • My second favorite B.O.C. album, after "Secret Treaties". Thanks for sharing!

  • Good gosh! At 2:30 is that them in their Soft White Underbelly days?! Or possibly Stalk Forest Group?!

  • @MattHatter Soft White Underbelly, if these old eyes are focusing properly: Allen, Les, Don, Andrew and Albert...saw them in July, '68

  • Love the BOC...too bad there best stuff (and there is a lot!) never made it to radio in most cities. Thank God for KSHE 95 in St. Louis! We have truly been blessed to be exposed to countless KSHE Klassics!

  • For those unknowing OYFOOYK is On Your Feet Or On Your Knees, The AMAZING BLUE OYSTER CULT!!!!

  • Whew...this takes me back!! I remember jamming to the ending riff with my Ibanez Roadstar and as I climbed down the frets, I bent my head down. I broke a string and it embedded into my cheekbone about 1 below the eye. for 5 years I had a red dot there.... (it was worth it~!)

  • To clarify, about one inch below my eye. I had to take both hand and 'yank' it out~!

  • DUH! Sorry, Im a moron. OYFOOYK, I had to look it up. I saw BOC at Allentown PA Agricultural hall around 1978, and I'm sure that I drove everyone around me insane. A girl loaned me her binoculars, and I was screaming for "The Red and Black, Buck is my inspiration. BOC rules!

  • My favorite BOC song. (check my user name).

    Riding the underground

    Swimming in sweat

    A rumble above and below

    Hey cop don't you know?

    The heat's on alright

The hot summer day didn't quit for the night

    1277 express to heaven

  • @1277express2---How about OYFOOYK's version? Joe "never" sounded so good, and Buck's closing solo blistering.

  • @carrienurse Sorry mate, a virus or something tried to intall when I went to an OYFOOYK site. My computer stopped it.. Is this a Bouchard band? Or just a hoax?

    Please be real.

  • @1277express2---No apologies necessary. "OYFOOYK" is just an acronym for BOC's 1975 release, "On Your Feet Or On Your Knees". IMHO, their best live. My fave version of"Hot Rails To Hell", although as I've said here many times before, many a rabid fan has always wondered why "Astronomy" was mysteriously absent from here.

  • @carrienurse How about "Some Enchanted Evening"? (My favorite ETI version)

  • @1277express2---No doubt, '78's "Some Enchanted Evening" was stellar. I'll always be a bit partial to OYFOOYK only because it was, besides the covers, material strictly from their black & white era. An era "untainted" by their commercial success starting w/ Agents. Don't fall off your chair, I love their stuff from '76 on, but nothing IMO matched the "great madness" from 1972 through 1975.

  • @carrienurse Ugh, I have been trying to write this for an hour. The utube censors and limits are driving me crazy. I used to play baseball with Merv Griffins son. The BOC were on his talk show a long time ago. It was an embarrassing lip sync manager intoduced debacle. I tried to send a link but it was shot down. Just search for Merv Griffin Blue Oyster Cult and see what you find.

  • @carrienurse Indeed; the OYFOOYK is their anthem. I agree with everything you said here, and now that i think of it = I have it on vinyl~!! (I've got to xfer this stuff to digital so I can play it on my NBK~!)

  • me, my 5 year old sister and my dad are going to see them in NYC on march 13! it will be my 7th blue oyster cult show! =]

  • Buck is so underrated its really sad-the bass in this kicks ass too,I always loved Joe's voice-Anyone in Croydon,Pa or lower bucks county need a drummer or wanna start a band look me up on here.Rick -Outlawwolf35on aol.

  • Dang always knew of B.O.C.ya know, radio tunes, but kinda overlooked them. Missed a lot.Screw all religions, I'm converting to the Blue Oyster Cult

  • @rick1450 welcome my son

  • saw them live yesterday in athens!

  • The Heat from Below can burn your eyes out!

  • GodDamned!!! You Know... The Dudes From BOC All Look Like Guys From 70's PORN...

  • I used to love to drive my 71 Cutlass S to British Columbia cranking this record (on tape). And my girlfriend at the time (approx. 1991) thought this song sounded like Scooby-Doo! I can kindof see it! This song RAWKS!

  • Best, crank it! Happy Halloween!!

  • kicks flippin but!

  • The vocals are epic! They should have used Joe's voice more often...

  • BOC rock n roll hall of fame. no brainer!!!

  • God I LOVE Tyranny and mutation. That album and Their first album are by far my favorites

  • Absolutely agree!-

They were the very first band I ever saw in concert- U.of MD-Cole Field House-1971

w/Black Sabbath & Black Oak Arkansas WILL NEVER FORGET THAT CONCERT!

  • John Lennon said that this band and album were his favorite rock !

  • really wow! Where did you hear that. it's awesome if its true!

  • It was on one of the BOC links

  • Is that for real?

Jimmy Pag said at one time that Buck Dharma was his favorite guitarist.

  • pduvall100--I remember reading that article/story on Page too. Coming from Page, that's one hell of a compliment to Buck. One hell of a compliment...

  • The song titles are terrific! Such balls to put their ideas into music- and receive acclaim for it. BOC rocks the house down.

  • i didnt know boc were stooges fans?

  • Great sound Lib. Isn't it funny how there is always someone that says "this is there best album" ...just goes to show I guess. Different strokes for different fokes... ;-)

  • Tyranny and Mutation best ever by this band by far.Yes,this is "punk",influenced many a band!

  • Even Sandy Pearlman thinks this is his best work. I think I like "Secret Treaties" or "Imaginos" the best. This one is balls to the walls, so I ran out of gas quickly. (that means I only listen to it once a month after thirty three years.)"Secret Treaties" is like my car, it never has to get out of third gear to pass anything in sight, and the echoes breaking the sonic sound barrier go on into infinity.

Hey, that image goes with this album cover, doesn't it? Ha

  • The opening riff sounds so familiar that it's driving me nuts. Who else plays something like it? Mudhoney?

  • The Stooges -- "I wanna be your dog"

  • The Stooges "I wanna be your dog".

A bit "too" familiar in my opinion..anyway.

  • Easily My favorite BOC song, thanks for posting

  • Do they make bands like BOC anymore???

  • I'm trying put the only problem is finding musicians who's interested;(

  • leppst2ty: I'm stuck in this horrible Southern rock nightmare. We do four Skynyrd covers, four ZZ Tops, Cat Scratch Fever and three Bob Segar covers. I want to claw my eyes out, I'm so sick of it all. I would love to quit and play bass in a real band.

  • I would assume by playing a set full of Southern rock is that is what your core audience likes. However you can shake it up. Most crowds that like the classic Southern rock genre adapt well to music like BOC. Where we are we have a lot of bikers, they love this stuff. Lead your band to step outside the box, or just start another band. Nothing to lose. I would love to do BOC, Kiss, old 70's stuff + 80's, even a couple of Ramones tunes here and there.

  • @ebonics4everyone Man that´s terrible. You should quit that redneck band and play some BOC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • When this song ends click on "Blue Oyster Cult - 7 Screaming Diz-Busters" by the slame poster, Libertone62, to get the songs in album order.

    The greatest BOC album.

While playing my brothers albums I was hooked on BOC immediately with the first song, The Red and the Black.

Saw them in New Orleans '74 with Rush. Baton Rouge in '82 with Ozzy. Dinkelsbuhl Germay in '87 (I just arrived in Nurnberg). El Paso in '97 and 2000.

  • Get to see BOC with FOGHAT in a few weeks.WOWOWWOW.

  • man BOC is awesome

  • slams a dicks wood

  • KICK ASS. One of BOC's best! Drive faster, noob!

  • ahhh..ditched class in HS..partied to this "new" band BOC, 1971 or 2..think it was 71..thanks for the memory. Excellent band..

  • Me too, Rock on.

  • this song rocks!!!!!

  • great album

  • Original bassist Joe Bouchard sings this.

  • Who sings this one cause I know Eric sings some and Buck sings some.

  • Joe Bouchard (the bassist) does this one.

  • psychedelic picture man

  • Killer song and nice video too.

  • Thanks for posting. This album and Secret Treaties remain my two favorite albums from my fav band of all time!

  • I think those were their best 2 LPs too.

  • the song is about riding the subway in new york. the 1277 express to heaven is a number on the car that they rode quite often. the people on the train were like zombies. one of the hottest guitar riffs ever done by them.

  • Comment removed

  • I've ridden that car myself a few times. It's no longer in service (retired 1977) - was one of those brown "pre-war" cars with the cane seats and whirling fans. Rode it on the "F" line twice and the "E" once. GREAT SONG TOO - I've been listening to this LP for 35 years now, still amazes me.

  • what this one is about remains cryptic- my friend's dad alleges that it has something to do with the planes that would take soldiers to viet nam... but that doesn't seem to cover everything in the lyrics.

  • It is supposedly based on a guy that they knew who was a loan shark/gambler named Phil King who was shot in the head by a a client who was in debt and didn't want to pay him. Also they were supposedly playing a show he book for then in upstate NY the day he was murdered.

  • Unbelievably great.

  • What I like about bands like B.O.C.,Nazareth,April Wine,Uriah Heep,Manowar,UFO,Black Sabbath and AC/DC is that they don't change their music to please the MTV generation. They have the attitude that pretty much states "THIS IS OUR MUSIC TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT!!!!"

  • Every group you named had had more than half of their best work done long before MTV. I appreciate your point though.

  • What's funny is these bands actually had videos on MTV in the early days.

  • Yeah, the Nazareth videos ar the best - Holiday, Dream On...Hilarious..

  • @metallooney right on dude :D

  • I must have seen these guys 10 times in the 70's. The original "Guitar Army!"

  • This sounds a lot like garage rock music with a blend of early proto-punk combined with late 60s psychedelia. A very transitional period in music.

  • Dreamz--A very interesting observation, although I doubt any garage band was this tight. The opening salvo called "The Red & The Black" is electrifying and it really doesn't let up much from there. Peace.

  • I think I hear some surf rock with how the drums and lead guitar fit together, too.

  • Al Bouchard was a great drummer with BOC. Too bad they had to let him go.

  • Speaking of PUNK ROCK, Check out the TescoV version of this SAME tune! It's MIGHTY damn good. I wanna see the song Deadline on YT...or rather, HEAR it

  • Great tune!

  • B Ö C P U N K R O C K

  • The beginning sounds almost like punk rock to me

  • OYFOOYF's live version smokes!

  • Judas Priest, anyone?????

They should be great fans of this band, 'cause when I hear Judas Priest my mind sets to this song! Blue Oyster Cult, however, is a hundred times cooler than Judas Priest!

  • mantova--Funny you should mention Priest. During their up and coming days, I believe they were known as "the poor man's Blue Oyster Cult". Don't know why & not trying to knock them. I like a lot of their stuff. Remember, BOC was always called "the thinking man's metal band".

  • Rob Halford loves all rock and metal. He owns Pink Floyd in his personal record collection, as reported in Hit Parader magazine in the 80s!

  • norris--That's freaking hilarious, and I can certainly hear this song's furious tempo for that.

  • would like to beat the shit out of my ex girlfriend s new lover to this song

  • Then you could rather fuck the shit out of your ex girlfriend to this song too. Amirite?

  • no this train has left the station. but i could hire some crazed dudes that would fuck the shit out of the new lover..but at the end of the day i don't give a shit

  • A better B.O.C. song to beat up the new lover to is "See You in Black" from their Heaven Forbid album. If you haven't heard that one yet, check it out.

  • thanks for the hint mate.. i 've only been listening to the old records of b.o.c so far. the new stuff seems to be way different from the old one but still very nice

  • the quad 8 track mix of this record playing through 4 speakers was simply amazing. blows stereo away.

  • powerkor---Indeed. Back in the day my friend had a quad sytem. You remember them. They had like a psuedo-oscilloscope on the front showing the 4 ouputs. Anyway, he had the quad-recorded T&M. I've never heard OD'd the same again.

  • Maybe a remastering to DVD Audio is in order with new interviews, making of stuff!!

  • Little known fact of this song is that Albert Bouchard put the final drum track on after everything else had been recorded (i.e. he redid the drum track).

  • Great song. Been listening to Tyranny & Mutation today for the first time in ages. A god albumb, not as good as secret Treaties, but good.

Get the first four studio albums, OYFOOYK live album and Fire of Unknown Origin album and your set for a Hot Ride on the rails to hell.

  • bobby, don't forget "Cultosaurus Erectus". They pulled themselves together for that one just like Fire Of Unknown Origin! GREAT BAND!

  • I'll give it a listen sometime. Maybe in remastered form if a certain label bring our the rmainder of the albums in remastered form before the end of this century

  • Well I have listened to Cultosaurus Erectus on You Tube and I will most definitely be getting the album. After listening to some of the other BOC albums I don't have, it, it seems to be the best of the bunch. Thanks for the recommendation u1u0.

  • The least you can do Bob...

is....start with the first BÖC album.

    and then Agents Of Fortune,

    In my humble opinion,The Best.

They come up now & then

with an Ace tune ♥ though, but those 2 albums

    is Cult essence ♫

  • There's a compilation two disc set I got. Workshop of the Telescopes I think, awesome, lost my disc 2 from it, however. [sad]

  • I just ordered that today! Wierd! lol. My only wish is that they would've used the live version of Veteran of the Psychic Wars with the spine shivering solo.

  • I don't know where all the tracks reside, I have a few of their albums but not all... The compilation is very nice, on Sony CD. Shooting Shark, awesome

  • old boc rocks so hard good frying days

  • I'll say it again- I love this song! This whole dark, spooky, I shouldn't be listening to this, but what the hell it's not THAT dangerous sound they have is awesome!

  • tina---Yeah, the T & M release was the darkest. 7 Screaming Diz-Busters(..."with hardened smiles & evils signs. And ice behind their eyes..."

For those who lurk behind the rose. Dark indeed and it burns it down...

  • those were the days,i think..kinda blurry.lol

  • i hope it's not wrong, but i love 'tyranny and mutation' just as much as 'secret treaties', and a lot more than the first record.

  • It's not - in fact, Fire of Unknown Origin is my favorite of BOC's albums, and how about Cultosaurus Erectus? I think that's another one of their best albums...heck, I love them all. Every single album - I imagine the last thing I'll hear before going deaf in my old age will be a BOC song.

  • Dead Line!!! TOTAL CLASS

  • saw'em live just after this album came out. what a band.great songwriters. great musicians. You must hear the first album. How can you not love a a song entitled "She's as Beautiful as a Foot"? Buck Dharma-extremely gifted and underated guitarist- one of the best EVER. I spent hours in front of the family stereo learning his licks. Thanks Fellas

  • BOC! BOC! BOC! :D

  • I love how at the end the band fades out instead of the sound.

  • Like the heavy surf guitar-gliss during the fade-out.

  • horse shirt XD

  • oh, and I like BOC just fine. Kinda just felt like talking some shit, that's all.

  • sk8erboi sounds like a bitch. Get off the computer and go read a book, you suck.

  • Joe Bouchard's best song.

All the boys in BOC could kick ass.

  • blue oyster cult fucking pwns ass

any 1 that hates them i fucking hate u

  • ahhh! i love this song! yaaay!

  • Me too. I got this CD the other day @ BestBuy. Also have ST, AoF, and Spectres. All kick ass!!

  • i love this fucking song!

  • Man, i love this song--- espicially on "On yer feet, or on yer knees live, kick it out buck!!

  • Don't watch it then...

  • u suck

  • Fuck off faggot. This song is fucking awesome.

  • Bought this album from Rat Records Store in Houston many moons ago.....still love it.

  • Dude, I sold that to you!

  • Tyranny and Mutation was my first BOC LP and I bought it when it was first released! -- Damn, I'm old. I still listen to it and it still KILLS.

  • Old? No worries friend. T&M was MY first Cult album also. Bought it cause of the killer cover. Then "BOC". Then "Secret Treaties". Then of course their logical conclusion-OYFOOYK. Those first 4 were pile drivers weren't they? Ah the BOC arena days.

  • I just bought a smoking t-shirt on eBay of the T&M cover! You can even pick the color of the background. Of course, the BEST would be to find a vintage light blue one from back in the day!

  • the heat from below, can burn... YourEyesOut

  • stupid youtube player!!!,slower and slower and slower. After a few years it won"t even play videos

  • great song

  • The first three BOC albums are hell. That what they described they were doing on the first three albums was to describe hell as best as they could. For '70's hardrock/metal music they did it very damn well.

  • It's in "E"

    Good fun.

    Good luck with the solo.

Stoned out looks from the crowd?

    No shit.

  • nice
