Most definately... "There's someone on the wing, some... thing! Did you happen to see the 3rd Rock From The Sun episode where Shatner was the aliens' leader. When he meets John Lithgow and they recall their experiences with strange things on wings... That was a classic!!!
Very good selection. I might have swaped out 5 or 6 of your choices for the following: "One for the Angels" with Ed Wynn, "Monsters Due on Maple Street" with Claude Akin, "The After Hours" with Anne Frances, "Midnight Sun" with Lois Nettleton and Betty Garde and "The Invaders" with Agnes Moorehead. Otherwise nice selection indeed....
The series was done so well that different episodes touched viewers in different ways. Each episode has it's own merit. Let's not disagree, let's enjoy.
I guess it's a personal thing, but I think the story & acting in the one about the Mannequinn (Marsha, played by the girl who played Honey West) was incredible. Also Jack Klugman & Billy Mummy as his son, where Klugman asks God to take him instead of his son who was wounded in Vietnam. (very moving if you're a parent) Also the one about the dummy taking over the puppeteer. Also the one where the devil is captured only to be let loose again by accident. Where are all of these great shows???
Do you know the title of the episode mentioned by Rod Serling at the end, i.e. the one about the fortune teller machine? If possible, could you post it in YouTube? Thank you in advance!
@wongmartinez if we're talking about the same fortune teller episode its called the nick of time :) the one with the diner and the machine with the devil on top?
Rod serling was a genius, every single episode was magic, and evrybody will have their own favorites, what i wanted was all of the episodes listed so i could watch ones I hadn't seen, but they pulled it off youtube, how about third planet from the sun where the dude keeps everybody surviving, or the one where the girl slips through the wall into another dimension, or the boxer who almost goes for it on the magic of a kid's believe system, or Room for one more honey, so many.
@deanguy66 Yeah man, that was one of the episodes I grew up with, my parents started getting those Columbia House VHS tapes way back when, and that was on one of the tapes, we never got all the tapes though, lol, but now we have The Complete Definitive Collection :D
This is my favorite television show of all time- I have a few friends that are also as obsessive about it as I am, and I've discovered it's foolish to attempt to pick a universal best episode. What's interesting, is that asking what a person's personal favorite episode is, tends to be a really good way to figure out who they are, and what's important to them. The ones that always spoke to me, were "Passage for Trumpet" and "Nervous man in a four dollar room".
These are my personal favorites... Walking Distance- hands down my favorite A Stop at Willoughby Nick of Time The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street The Grave To Serve Man A Kind of a Stopwatch The Hitch-Hiker Back There Mr. Bevis
Which episode is the one where the dude switches lives, and the guy he switches with has a wife who knows that the dude is a different guy because of some vase?
Regarding Odyssey of Flight 33: Early in the episode, we see a scene among the passengers where an older lady is talking (bothering really) to a military guy--well I just realized that military guy is the rich dude that Lamont and Fred have to move that piano for on Sanford and Son. Now if any of you have watched Sanford and Son regularly, you probably know the episode I'm talking about.
1 Time Enough at Last (Meredith: Well, that‘s just not fair) 2 Nightmare at 20,000 feet (Shatner: paranoia is REAL) 3 Eye of Beholder (Beauty is in…) 4 Living Doll (Talky Tina) 5 The Silence (a tragedy beyond vocalization) 6 To Serve Man (It’s a cook book) 7 Nick of Time (Make your own Destiny) 8 The Masks (Facades and the inner person) 9 The Grave (Which way is the wind blowing now?) 10 Walking Distance (You can’t go home again)
this list is very stupid if To Serve Man, Time Enough at Last, Nightmare at 20,000 Feet, The Stopwatch, The Living Doll, and the Odyssey of Flight 33. are not in the top 10!!! >.<
Top 25? I disagree! As one who grew up watching these things (I'm 40-plus), I have the opinion that this list is grossly out of order. No such list is accurate if "Time Enough at Last," "The Hitchhiker," "Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up?" and "To Serve Man" are not in the top five!
@godzilla2011able, thank you for agreeing with me. I know I sounded passionate in my above response, but I get that way when it comes to The Twilight Zone (smile). You know what I'm saying, right?
@marshalljimduncan, did you end your comment with "all in the eye of the beholder" on purpose? You know you referenced the episode in which Donna Douglas (Beverly Hillbillies' Ellie Mae Clampett) finds herself in a world where beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder! Cute. And thanks for the response to my response (smile).
@TheWriterWalker Yes, lol, I did. Your picks for the top5 are all favorites of mine! I just think it would be impossible to actually compile a top anything list for the zones! The all deserve top billing (wink)!
@welka1, I agree, although it's hard to find "Time Enough" in its entirety on YouTube--that one and another favorite, "The Hitchhiker." But I'm grateful for the ones that are here. I've made a playlist of them. My other similar playlist contains Alfred Hitchcock TV classics, which are far more numerous than Twilight Zone episodes.
Anybody know the episode with Jack Klugman playing the trumpet as a jazz player?
I know he came out in like 3 or 4 different episodes but I can't seem to find this specific one. He gets hit by a car and starts walking around but nobody can see nor hear him. Except...
My favorite part of The Twilight Zone I don't know what the episode #? is about a woman with the flying saucer in the attic and its turns out the property by US Air Force when she smash it with the baseball bat!
anyone know the name of that episode where theres this guy who dosnt believe its the end of the world and everyone that got that message believes it and he thinks those people in suits that delievered those tapes are aliens trying to kill him but they arnt there just angels saving people and at the end those people are saved and theres a nuke after that ??
I've came on here searching for an episode of TZ. I remember there were little 'blue men' beings who hid things from people, but then put them back. That's all I remember. Having read some posts I'm going to watch some recommended episodes, it's been years but I loved watching when they were on tv.
Hope someone out there can help........der der deeer der! :)
Is there an episode where these people are stuck in a house in the middle of nowhere with tornadoes everywhere outside so they are trapped, maybe it's not TZ though..
You'd need to include the time travel episode where the scientist tried to stop disasters in the past but it never worked out and He's Alive about Hitler's ghost returning to inspire a young man.
It's way too difficult to pick just 25 episodes of the best show BY FAR of it's kind in TV history...
You're missing 2 episodes, and ironicly one is called Two. The other is The Obsolete Man. And To Serve Man and Will The Real Martian Please Stand up are in the wrong places. That's just my opinion
Does anyone know the name of the episode where someone wakes form a dream where the world is in an ice age only to find that the planet is burning up in the heat of the sun?
@scottandildi Actually, I think you have that backward: through most of the episode, the woman (Lois Nettleton), was dreaming - unknown to the viewer - believing the world was going to burn up...but then near the end, she wakes up and the world is in peril via a deep freeze.
@scottandildi i think you might be speaking o the episode where the woman had a fever or something, falls asleep and has a dream the world is extremely hot to the point where her paintings begin to melt. Atleast thats the episode that comes to mind from your description
i love Twilight Zone, whats the episode called where the old man is in purgatory with his dog, and the one where aliens bring a book with the cure to cancer but the towns people burn it.
I remember constantly watching this when i was a kid, I was hooked. There is nothing to this day that is so dark and eerie, and subtly scary then this series, Way too many special effects these days, the soul of a totally spooky experience is gone,
can anyone remember the title of the episode where a little girl or boy held the family captive in looney tune world ? or was that outer limits, or am i off to the doctors as it never existed in the real world .
I love the episode where the earth is moving closer to the sun, but then it was a dream and the earth is actually moving farther away from it.
P.S Does this video get alot of view after thanksgiving? Cause i watch the twilight zone parade all day..lol. That's the reason why im here looking up twilight zone shows.
in middle school i watched this episode with my class and I remember very little about it except there was a riot in this neighborhood and i think it had something to do with an alien invasion and i think the lesson was something along the lines of humans are the real aliens...do u have any idea of what episode this is (sorry for the lack of detail)
BEST ONE IS "THE GIFT" BUT OTHERS WHICH ARE THE STAND-OUTS 2 ME ARE
"WALKING DISTANCE".. "THE LONELY".. "THE HITCH HIKER".. "A STOP AT WILLLOUGHBY".,.. "THE MIDNIGHT SUN".. "5 CHARACTERS IN SEARCH OF AN EXIT".."A PIANO IN THE HOUSE".."YOUNG MAN'S FANCY"..."THE CHANGING OF THE GUARD"..."RING A DING GIRL".."THE MASKS"...AND "I AM THE NIGHT COLOR ME BLACK"
The only episodes I remember are the old lady being attacked by tiny aliens, the one on the plane with I think William Shatner, and the guy who wakes up before the train in his dream reaches that one town.
Most of your picks don't even rate the top fifty, let alone twenty-five. I can say this, since I've been watching The Twilight Zone for almost forty years. how about "The Masks","A Quality of Mercy","The Changing of the Guard","Deaths-Head Revisited",and "A Kind of Stopwatch" to name a few.
@someCOCKSUCKER ALSO I FORGOT "WILL THE REAL MARTIAN PLEASE STAND UP" :D Im 25 and will always be a fan of true masterpieces unlike the steaming piles of poop they put on t.v. nowadays....
Time Enough At Last, Nightmare at 20,000 feet, The Hitch-hiker, A Penny For Your Thoughts, Nothing In The Dark, A World Of His Own, To Serve Man, and Will The Real Martian Stand Up are some of my favs. I also like: Howling Man, The Fever, A Nice Place to Visit, Nick of Time, The Passerby, The Hunt, and I Am The Night-Color Me Black.
@ForgetaboutFreeman first of all thanks for your reply, also, is burnt offerings one of those bloody horrors, or does it has monsters in it? reason I ask is because I rarely find those type of movies scary at all, or is it like realistic type scary? thanks :).
At the end of his life, the deadliest gunfighter of the Old West is given a choice: Hell or redemption. He chooses redemption and God's Archangel transports him to modern day Los Angeles to serve bloody, frontier justice on the worst dregs of society.
A for effort, but Nightmare As A Child and A Game Of Pool are two of the absolute worst Twilight Zones ever and shouldn't have made the list. What You Need is okay but far from among the top episodes, let alone number one. Glad to see The Shelter and A Stop At Willoughby in there. Just my $0.02.
What you need is a great one!! You left off the Masks! and the one where the guy turns into the devil at the church!! and what about time at last!! or the obsolete man!! or when the RIP the dog and the old man drown and go to Heaven!! Its all a matter of preference. Nice list!!
Most definately... "There's someone on the wing, some... thing! Did you happen to see the 3rd Rock From The Sun episode where Shatner was the aliens' leader. When he meets John Lithgow and they recall their experiences with strange things on wings... That was a classic!!!

I feel like this guy came up with every cool story and idea ever, and all anyone can do is rehash them.

Sad to see "The Obsolete Man" didn't make it to your list. I love that episode, but they're all good.

TWILIGHT ZONE 60'S were an 'AMERICAN INSTITUTION". Most of the shows were great. The 80's twilight zone series SUCKED BIG TIME.
YOU2UUB 1 year ago
@RandomLove6 that episode is called "Mirror Image" and it's from season 1. It's a good one!
SJHJ1213 1 year ago
The only episodes I remember are the old lady being attacked by tiny aliens, the one on the plane with I think William Shatner, and the guy who wakes up before the train in his dream reaches that one town.

MIKZ562 1 year ago
Most of your picks don't even rate the top fifty, let alone twenty-five. I can say this, since I've been watching The Twilight Zone for almost forty years. how about "The Masks","A Quality of Mercy","The Changing of the Guard","Deaths-Head Revisited",and "A Kind of Stopwatch" to name a few.
willster8372 1 year ago
"The silence" seemed like it should have made it up there, one more my favorite :)

Anyone know the episode where it shows a creepy, bug-eyed dude? He wears sun glasses to cover his eyes.

There's something weird about all this.

"Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" is one of my parents' favorite episodes, and I personally think William Shatner looks HOT in it, LOL!
caitlinjane92 1 year ago
which is the scariest episode aside from the living doll?
lRedBaronl 1 year ago
It's all completely subjective, but I can't see how Eye of the Beholder would be ranked any lower than the top 5.
matlm 1 year ago
In order to rank the 25 best Twilight Zone episodes, you must watch each of the 156 episodes 7 or 8 times.
pieces11 1 year ago
I respect your opinion, but you've missed a couple and a most unusual camera is not top five not top 15 even
Bingo628 1 year ago
@Bingo628 Actually, it is #4.
