  • Subtitles are fucked...

  • You nobs made this more about your personal tastes, than the news article. Thats why i clicked on it in the first place, instead i got 3 fuckups telling me what good films are so thanks for fuckall

  • one of the greats film makers ever, i will miss you.

  • I'll miss him. Wonderful films, especially the teen films. Pretty In Pink and The Breakfast Club are my favorites, both filled with so much heart and brains and unbelievable music.

  • I miss John Hughes

  • correction to what the stupid bint said about the movies Hughes directed, he DIDNT direct Home Alone, he wrote the screenplay for it, Chris Columbus(no, not that one!) directed it. btw, I think its fair to point out that this guy in this video is trying his very best to be funny, so if you could do him a favour and let off a little giggle, even if its a fake laugh(which is all i could muster up)then his efforts wont be totally wasted, thank u.

  • The Breakfast Club is an amazing fucking movie.

  • his movies are enjoyable, but not amazing

  • Not every film should or needs to be 'The Godfather'. Hughes films were fun and never took themselves too seriously, while still managing to send a clear message about suburban life. Hughes made it look easy, which is probably why many people do not see what a tremendous talent he was.

  • the best movies ever made were by john hughes.i would rather watch christmas vacation, home alone or ferriss beuller over the godfather anyday.they are timeless classics.

this video is in poor taste.

  • TYT is about slandering. No limits.

  • Fuck off, I'm still alive, and I'm only 27, and i didn't direct no fucking movies!

  • @hughes7520 laughs

  • 'The title should be 'Where his movies amazing?'

    They spelt 'we're' wrong.

    We're = We are

Where = Where was (it) (he) etc

  • @SilverHammock Really? You ARE joking, right? The phrase "where his movies amazing" makes no sense. Here's the deal. Where is an adverb. It describes location or position, as in "Where is your goddamn sense?" "Were" (without an apostrophe) is not we are, but a form of the verb "to be." (like "is, was, or are") "were his movies amazing" is the past tense of "are his movies amazing?" "Where" is pronounced like "ware,"and "were" is pronounced like "whir" (the sound a blender makes.) Understand?

  • @xJoeEDangerouslyx Sorry I looked at the title in a 'where' manner or way. It's a mistake by me, but give me a break I'm 13. Anyway I could spell like dis and dat and tha.

  • @SilverHammock Forgiven. Sorry if I sounded like a dick. There are people older than me who don't understand how to speak English apparently, so I get a little frustrated.

  • Why is Dave an ass?

  • @SilverHammock daves not an ass, he's an idiot who shouldn't be there.

  • The man was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is not one of his movies that I have not seen less that 15 times

  • I don't know whats worse, that stupid Dos Equis commercial, or the young turkey burgers.

    John Hughes was the best.

Today's movies( with few exceptions) couldn't even shine the shoes of the movies from the 80's.

  • the idiot critic in this clip knows nothing about film if he does not understand the brilliance of John hughes and what he did. Im not saying this only as a fan but as someone who worked under the tudor of a film director, I always loved hughes films but learned to see them in a different way through my time working with a director. people who hate hughes are the people hughes tried to expose in his movies.

  • he didnt direct home alone you douche

  • turk, shut the fuck up you fucking spick!!! you spicks havent contributed SHIT to the world!! go back and rot in south america!!!

never disrespect the greatest director ever! fucking hate dirty, smelly, wetbacks

  • Hahaha Wow that was the most ignorant tirade I have ever read. It's so dumb that it's just hilarious. Do you know what a Turk is and what Country? Obviously not. Did you know that Turkey is not in South America and that a Turk is not, as you say, a "spic"? Obviously not. Wild guess, you are "American", and one from the midwest, the south or very inland. Small town, and a republican. Your kind of ignorance only comes from there. You are the reason why people laugh at "Americans". Learn something.

  • when i say turk, im saying it to the guy that host this show you stupid shit! I dont know his name. I dont mean turkish people, im talking about the host whose sitting at the desk with the girl idiot. He's a dirty mexican spick it looks like

  • And it looks like you are more ignorant than what i thought you were. Rush Limbaugh fan? Yep. Redneck brainwashed hillbilly. I already explained to you that Cenk, the one you call "turk" is Turkish and not Mexican or South American or for that matter a "spic". You are so fucking dumb you can't even get your cultural references right to insult anybody. Get your head out of the sticks and get a fucking world atlas and learn that there is a whole world outside of the United States you fucking hick

  • i will miss u john

    r.i.p

  • He was a legend!!! ferris bueller's day off, the breakfast club, planes trains & automabiles, and home alone were fantastic!!! John Candy was also great he was made famous cos Hughes did him in classic movies like uncle buck!!

    sixteen candles is great aswell

  • Planes, Trains, and Automobiles was an amazing movie, makes you laugh out loud and then shed tears. One of the best comedies of all time,

    rip john hughes

    rip john candy

  • as a film critic i would say yes, he did make some "amazing" movies, example: Planes Trains and Automobiles

  • We should have let him direct Dragon Ball Evolution... It would have sucked, but better than the crap that came out.

  • where is he buried ?

  • lake forest cemetery in northern ill above chicago, i think.

  • lake forest ill in northern illinois.

  • R.I.P

i liked hes home alone movies

  • he was the king of the 80's teen movie he created the brat pack they would be no twilight , the oc, gossip girl, party of five or dawson creek not mention 90210 without him -he defined a generation and breakfast club -one fo the best movies of the 80's man.

  • @dlfunky Breakfast Club one of the best movies ever. I'm only a sophmore in college and that movie is still an almost perfect representation of my feelings in high school. If you can make a movie that is still relevant decades later, you've made one of the best.

  • does anyone hae the link to the video of when they rated the top 10 american movies???

    thx

  • John Hughes movies are amazing !! BEST MOVIES IN THE WORLD !!!!!!

  • they were good movies, but not amazing

they were representative of a certain brand of humor made popular in the 80s and eventually spawned a whole barrage of team romcoms and explotation films involving horny teens and college students.

  • I think I'd get along with Dave well.

  • sks gar

  • dude he directed home alone and home alone 2.. hes awesome.

  • No he didn't. He wrote and produced Home Alone, Chris Columbus directed it. They got it wrong.

  • Classic inferiority complex. If you like the movies, fine. Why do you have to bully those who don't? Hughes made some okay movies, that's all. The Breakfast Club is somewhat of a classic, and his movies are enjoyable. But he's got no sense of storytelling trough images that a good director should have.

  • don't you forget about me.

  • IMHO the best Movie John Hughs was involved with is "Planes. Trains, and Automobiles". Great holiday flick with Steve Martin and John Candy.

  • I have never actually seen Farris Bueller, but I have seen Home Alone and Breakfast Club. Home Alone was good as a kid, I mean who doesn't like seeing burglars slip on marbles or w/e, and Breakfast Club was alright I suppose (except for that stupid dance scene -.-), but I wouldn't say either of them were amazing pieces of American cinema.

  • he was great, and I would put Ferris Bueller's Day off in the top 100 list of most AMAZING movies easily. It may even win for best comedy.

  • John Cusack? No.

  • I am amazed to see how many of Hughes' work I have never seen, or only seen in parts. I can only think of maybe a half dozen of his movies I've actually watched all the way through, even once.

  • Anna obviously knows very little about movies. Amazing? lol

  • Mr. Mom, Breakfast Club, Ferris, Home Alone, Planes Trains and Automobiles, and the list goes on. Yes, he was amazing.

  • John Hughes made a whole bunch of lame movies with shallow stereotypical characters, some outright racist (Long Duk Dong), and only managed one decent film in Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

  • Fun, maybe. Amazing, not even remotely.

  • They just shouldn't let Ana talk anymore. Brings the whole show to a halt every time.

  • ferris buehler's day off is not really funny..............

  • The Breakfast Club is the BEST

  • i saw him outside starbucks this morning, he's alive

  • Why does Ana talk like that? Seriously. I love her, but does she have to drag every single word out like that?

  • YOU'RE BORING!

  • John Hughes created films that spoke to all Regan-era suburban youth - don't discount their effect in providing a spotlight or support to the disaffected teens in suburbs everywhere in the 80's.

  • How could 2 people as stupid as these, have a show? Nice tribute to a man that had more talent in his left thumb than these 2 hacks could ever sell their soul for!!!

  • I love it when Ana laughs, her boobs giggle. ;D

  • John Hughes isn't fucking dead you all dumb fuck heads!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • proof?

  • RIP John Hughes

  • I am so sad to hear that John Hughes passed away. My favorite movies of his are "Pretty in Pink" and "Breakfast Club". They were brilliant! God speed John!

  • Uncle Buck!

  • John Hughes didn't Direct Home Alone. That shit was directed my the guy who did those Harry Potter films, Chris Columbus.

  • He wrote the Home Alone films.

  • Yet, did he direct the Home Alone films?

I was just pointing out the flaw that TYT said.

  • so so sad to hear this

but so happy for what he did

    much love

  • Planes Trains and Automobiles is my favourite of his. A fantastic heartwarming comedy, and probably one of the best comedies of all time in my view.

  • I don't know about his other movies but FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF is a classic.

  • And Airplane. And Planes Trains & Automobiles.

  • The Breakfast Club & Ferris Bueller's Day Off are two of my FAVORITE movies!!

I grew up in that era...AWesome movies, by far.

  • Actually the only reason you would take the movies of John Hughes over the "shit" today is because you aren't young anymore. Thier are plenty of amazing films coming out today and plenty of shit like always...nothing's changed

  • Movies today suck.

  • @JH335163

    o.0 sugar???

  • r.i.p. john you were the biggest teenager of all of us

  • Ferris bueler's day off is really funny

  • those movies sucked assballs

  • YOU suck assballs.

  • I'll take his movies over the shit today. "The Breakfast Club" is one of my favorite movies.

Jeez, Michael Jackson and John Hughes are just so-so for the Young Turks? Who do they like?

  • Do I really give a shit about who directs a movie?

No. I don't give a flying shit about the name directing the movie: i give a shit about the movie itself. Is it good or not? Period.

  • Wow, way to make blasé a virtue. You're really cool dude, you don't care about anything.

  • Ferris Bueller is a classic. The Breakfast Club is a good movie too, but I would have to rank Ferris above that.

  • Better than fucking Twilight

  • Bueller

    Bueller?

  • LOL

  • Ferris Bueller is amazing...Matthew Broderick has been typecast as Ferris ever since

  • John Hughes characters were always memorable and his stories always entertaining.

  • I could take or leave most of his movies, but

Ferris Bueller's Day Off and National Lampoon's Vacation pretty much stood in a category of their own. I have a spot for Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, but I really don't think it is as complete a movie as the other two.

I guess I was just too old to enjoy Home Alone, because I kept hoping the kid's antics would backfire in a horribly tragic way at some point...

  • LOL on that last comment!! :D Agree about Ferris Bueller, definitely!

  • OffT, but am i the only one here who think that Ana Kasparian i both cute, beautiful and sexy?

    Hey Ana! :)

  • Look at it on a bright side, no more Home Alone movies.

  • oh i wouldn't be too sure! lol they could do a tribute.. just kiddin

  • lol funny.

  • fuck Dave.

  • My fave movie of all time ever by John Hughes was "The Breakfast Club".

    R.I.P. - John Hughes. =(

  • the breakfest club wuz tha greatest movie by him amazing movie

  • I think watching The Breakfast Club should a high school graduation requirement!

  • Maybe not so light hearted.. Definitely dramatic, stylized, meaningful, human interfacing. i could be right!! He showcases actors and gave them great presence and depth. It's true, he was either lucky or great. But he was paid for "great". He probably did many takes.

  • Ferris Bueller's Day Off is one of the best fims of the 1980's.John Hughes loved to poke a finger in the eye of Confomity and he did it in a Masterful way.a sad day.

  • Dave sounds like your typical movie snob.

Movies are great, or amazing because of their attraction to the people who watch them.

Hey Dave, thanks for thinking that you know better than others what is good, and what is not as good.

  • Ferris Bueller's Day Off wasn't amazing? What the hell is wrong with that guy?

  • ferris buellers day off is a personal favorite, twist and shout baby! ;)

  • Home alone!!!!

  • Oh, man. "Sixteen Candles" practically changed my life when I was fifteen.

  • What would the cinema landscape be without Ferris Buelers Day Off, Planes Trains and Automobiles, Uncle Buck, Weird Science, and any other number of movies he wrote directed or produced?

We wouldn't have brillaint comedies like Superbad or Dave in Real Life, films that blend hilarity with honesty in a seamless fashion for starters.

  • WHAT YOU MEAN HOME ALONE NOT SO AMAZING! That's one of my all time favorite films!

  • Ferris Bueller is in the top 5 all time movies....ever!!!!

  • lol these movies are all awesome because they are based in chicago.

  • ferris bueller ftw

  • Dave is cute.

  • John Cusack? He was in Say Anything, which was a Cameron Crowe movie....

Correct me if I'm wrong though.

  • Yes, but he was also one of the dweebs in sixteen candles. =)

  • Ah..yes. I remember that. Thank you Kaszely. :D

  • John Hughes truly had a hand in forming my generation with his films. I don't know any 30ish women that don't love cult classics like 16 Candles, Breakfast Club and Ferris Bueller. He was truly able to capture teen angst and light hearted rebellion in a realistic way.

  • I agree with David, his movies were anything BUT amazing.

  • Absolutely.. You could say some of his movies were decent. But amazing? Even "good" would be a stretch for most of them if you ask me.

  • His movies were amazing.

The Breakfast Club is one of the best movies ever made, even right up there with The Godfather.

  • lol right and the theme to Barney the Dinosaur is up there with Stairway to Heaven ;D

  • To that I say "psh", sir. =P

  • John Hughes

    Rest in Peace !!!!

    Your movies were amazing

    Save Ferris !!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm glad she mentioned 16 Candles first, that was sooo fun to me

  • He was kinda like the guy who did the illustrations for the Saturday Evening Post. Not appreciated by the art world but definitely hugely influential. He certainly created a slice of Americana. How about Planes, Trains and Automobiles? (is that right?) Was that John Hughes?

  • Sad day in Chicago. 16 Candles is one of my favorite movies ever.

  • I'm so sad. I had no idea he'd passed away until just now. You can't compare his movies to any other genre. They we made for my generation and we loved them well. I still refer to them when I hit a pity spiral. Sixteen Candles restores your faith in love, trust me try it when you need it and if Breakfast Club doesn't convince you that you're not the only one, then you just need to watch it again.

  • who is john hughes? yer idiots.

  • How ironic that YOU don't know who he is yet others are the idiots. Let me know if you need me to explain who Jesus, George Washington, Or Ghandi are. Single digit IQ's should never start throwing stones.

  • whats a ghandi

  • napalml337..are you educated??anyway, i don't want to be too harsh on you, may be you are just a kid..all i am saying is,either you don't know Gandhi or mocking at him- both way you need good education

  • oh come on dude, "finebiner" is the real idiot who cannot compile andyscott's statement, "who is john hughes? yer idiots", who clearly meant anyone who doesn't know hughes is an idiot. I was simply asking a classic, stupid "youtubian" comment. Protip- don't take people seriously on youtube.

Also, I don't know Gandhi, do you?

  • anna fails at detecting sarcasim

  • Noticed that too. Why is it that so many women don't understand that concept?

  • he didn't just direct them, he mostly wrote them. they were amazing. they were classics. they will be watched for years to come. that is no easy task. teenage films follow his blueprint even today. he is forgiven for "maid in manhattan".

tyt sucks when it comes to pop culture.

  • what a show! i've never seen anything like this. i'd rather watch these videos than live my freakin' life. i love it more than life itself. it tells me what to think and how to feel. it is my family. i'm sooooooooo happy.

  • i dont know most of those movies, but home alone was crap

  • Massive heart attack is a nice way to go.

    Hughes was a great director.

  • Amazing!!!

I really miss the simpicity of those his movies. Everything these day's is so hyped up and has no real human quality. His movies where so human and touching and deep in there way of trying to capture personal/social issues of the time.

In a way he didn't define a generation but a generation defined hos movies. Kid's felt undertood and identified with those movies.

    I'll miss you bro.

  • sixteen candles, the breakfast club, uncle buck. fbs day off. amazing movies. all his movies are amazing. like the goonies or something

  • he made uncle buck? cool, that WAS a great movie

(john candy in the golf club sceen) ah memorys lol

btw, who DID make the goonies?

    timeless classic.

  • richard donnar

  • his movies defined the 80s-90s.

I am wondering why he stopped working after 1997's Home Alone 3. What a way to end your career.

  • I'm just about to watch The Breakfast Club, been wanting to for a while now and I think nows a good time to do so. I'll be puttin clips of it on my channel after I see it

  • you might find the studios hunting them on YT now he's dead though mate.

  • You were right, it didn't even last a second.

  • what didnt last a second?

  • sorry i remember now lol

  • Didn't know of him, but i liked his movies. RIP

  • His movies were cult classics, but not classics. Amazing? I don't think so.

  • "Planes Trains & Automobiles" is a very underappreciated movie. With the exception of "It's A Wonderful Life" I can think of no other movie that captures the true meaning of the holidays and the human spirit.

And "Uncle Buck" is one of the funniest movies there ever was.

    I miss John Candy.

  • John Hughes is not appreciated enough for his contributions to cinema.

In John Hughes' movies you actually care about the characters (which is more than I can say for a lot of the movies that come out these days), even if you didn't like the story all that much. Not everyone can pull that off.

  • Maybe you cared about the characters more because you were 10 yrs old at the time. There were movies made in the 90's and 00's that followed type of scripting, but perhaps not as iconic.

  • So only 10 year olds care about the characters in John Hughes films? "Adults" like yourslef are just above that, huh?

There's something wrong with you if you don't care about characters like Ferris Bueller, or Buck Russell, or Dell Griffith.

  • His movies are great investigations of the complexities of the Hunan condition in a lexicon we can all grasp. However, Ana misspoke. He wrote most of these movies, but directed only some of them. Chris Columbus did Home Alone, I believe.

  • To put it another way, most of his movies are fine for kids and teens but are the kind of prattle that adults should have outgrown long ago.

  • I like to reread books from my childhood and teens as well. The continued love of something childish is not a bad thing. Watching again a movie that moved or tickled me in my teens simply brings me back to a feeling of joy or comfort, like the one I felt the first time. However you feel about his movies, you can't dismiss the impact and influence they had and continue to have on the people who absorbed their messages, good or bad.

  • There were a high percentage of movies made in the 80's that weren't amazing, but were fun, fun, fun, fun, FUN! You have to wonder, will any "light-hearted" movie be released in 2009 that will be as fondly remembered in 20 years as some of these 80's movies are?

  • Dave is awesome, they should let him talk more.

  • dave is a failed filmmaker isn't he? i'm just saying...

  • To be fair considering what is considered a "success" in Hollywood, I have more respect for you if you fail ;)

  • who?

  • Since the topic of the clip seems to be asking, Hughes's films were not amazing. His movies were fucking terrible.

Light-hearted yes. Awful sentimental schlock definitely.

Why are you considered a curmudgeon if you want your movies to be light-hearted but also intelligent, and demand more than schmaltzy idiocy?

  • He made some excellent films about growth and learning and they were funny too but amazing they weren't. I loved FBDO and Breakfast Club they were defining films. BTW does that girl have another dress or not?

  • he will be missed, for a certain generation he has made memories for life, he will be missed

  • Some Kind of Wonderful.

  • Didn't he do Wierd Science too? If so that would be my favorite movie of his.

  • lol sarcasum......love it..b more judgmental and numb...especially bout goverment!
