Since he won't review the Original Trilogy, I did it for him - but if you think they're perfect, think again. Turns out, they're full of as many plotholes as the Prequels. And in some cases, even more.

1) Because your reviews are really just a boring list of points, you can't really say "you did it for him".

2) Plinkett did a favorable review of Star Trek XI, while pointing out weaknesses and plotholes. If he did one of the OT, it probably would be just the same.

3) Plot holes and retcons aside, the OT had something very significant the PT did not - a lucid character constellation with clear motivations and characterizations.

There were many contrivances in the plot...

... but hardly ever was the viewer left wondering what a group or organizations wants, why a certain battle is fought (or who's the good and bad guys), or why a certain character does something instead of the other.

There were some cases like Leia shrugging off the "tracking", or some cases where Luke didn't use the force in ROTJ, but those were rather exceptions than the rule.

So the OT had the basics down and had some sloppy plot points thrown in...
