Soo . . . you're blaming the decel pop on a bad ground? That was one of the things Renton Honda checked first. Then the timing. Then the the flow. About then I got a call from the service manager saying -- politically correct, of course -- your pipes suck air. The best tuner for miles around can't make it work right. So, I asked them to take it off, and put on Cobra shorties, and re-dyno. The dealer was more than decent about it. No charge for the tear-off. No charge for the re-dyno.
Did you have any problems with the right side scavenging the rear cylinder. Did you tune your rig?
We both have 2002 1800VTX. I love the look of these pipes, but they WON'T WORK on my VTX. I used a PC3USB and the local dealer-- of Hondas, Of DynaJet, and of exhausts. THEY called the Jet people, the Honda people, and the Roadhouse people haven't called back. . .
Do you have any sample maps for this application? I'm just betting there's a flow problem above 3,000 rpm.
I have one of the original Hyperspeed (now defunct) controllers which uses an O2 sensor to adjust fuel trim. I used it as well on my previous pipes which were Hard-Krome Equalizers with straight cores in place of baffles. All four plugs read good. I bought these for looks not performance but the bike still runs like a raped ape like always and gets 40+ mpg. I pulled the baffles, wrapped them with metal ducting and stainless band clamps, wrapped with fiberglass, and reinstalled.
I think that i have watched your video no less than 50 times over the past months, i for some reson just can't seem to pull the plug and order them. It isn't so much the cost but more the bad vibe it get from VTX Cafe & VTXOA sites with people talking bad about the left side pipe and how it doesn't exhaust, which causes bad decel popping. can you tell me more about your experience. My 2005 1800S3 is itching for these over the HK3's. Please sale my on them. Thanks Scott
ANY pipe you put on this bike will decel pop, even stock ones but you don't hear it as well. The PAIR system injects air into the exhaust to help reignite unburned fuel and causes a lot of it along with new pipes and incorrect fueling. Mine only pops cold on rare occasion but the controller I have is no longer available. These pipes are about LOOKS first so if you don't want to compromise anywhere else they are not for you. They run and sound fine when set up right.
Well, I love the look and sound. But the fitness for purpose issues ruin the whole thing. I'll see what I can get posted later today. I agree, it is a major flaw in customer service when they don't return your calls.
Also if you are having issues with an '02 model you need to make sure that the ground cable recall was done. Also pull the seat and tank, disconnect all grounds on the frame and coil packs, clean to bare metal, coat with dielectric grease, and reinstall. This clears up most issues.
Honda vtwins have a different idle because of the crankshaft configuration. Dual crankpin. My Yamaha has a single crankpin. Nice VTX and video and well appointed with goodies!
These Roadhouse Dooleys have two bungs just after the intersection of the rear pipe on the right side (right, as if you were driving it). At least my set does.
I'm having an great deal of trouble with this set, and no help from Roadhouse.

Thanks, I was wondering about this series of pipes.
Just picked up new 1800 N-3.
First thing I noticed is the 02 sensor bungs that will need to installed first to the pipes I picked up.
These Road Hs duels would be neat. It was that rear cylinder clearance I was curious about as well.

You've got a really nice looking bike man. Great choice on the pipes (I just bought Dooleys for my Roadstar). It works with the 'Retro' look.
