Bad white ownership of this country? Really? Sorry...but take a long good look around. It seems that almost any place that has an extremely high concentration of blacks suffers from poverty, filth, ignorance, higher incarceration rates, single mothers, etc. Stop blaming the whites. Slavery is a thing long gone now and they need to start having some personal accountability! America is still one of the best countries on Earth...go to school, get a job, make something of yourself!
@shawnielee1976 I agree to a degree. Some things are choice-e.g. having kids out of wedlock- often with multiple partners-& being left a single mother. However, blacks worked for generations FOR FREE! Their free labour helped their whites masters become rich-wealth those whites passed down to their descendents. Blacks had no money to pass down to their children, because, again-THEY WORKED FOR FREE. Blacks were deliberately held back & uneducated & whites ARE responsible for that.
@politelypompous Blacks WERE deliberately held back and uneducated for many generations while they were slaves. I can understand how it may have been hard to begin with even after slavery ended for them to try and get on their feet and change their lives. However, there is NO excuse now. Blacks have just as many if not MORE opportunities than whites to succeed in this country. They need to stop their incessant whining and blaming of others. A little hard work and perseverance can go a long way!
@politelypompous And BTW- My descendants didn't pass any "slave made" wealth down to ME. I have had to work very hard, struggle, and make it out there just like anyone else. Just because I am white, doesn't mean things have been handed to me. I worked and studied my butt off in a very low income school, grew up in very poor neighborhood, and had all the cards stacked against me. But I didn't shrug my shoulders and give up! If you accept ignorance and poverty, then that's what you'll get!
@shawnielee1976 Not in ALL cases but in many...esp. in areas like rural Mississippi. If these people's ancestor's weren't working for free, they would have had something more to leave their children. I'm not saying this applies to all whites, and there are many poor whites as well, but definitely in these cases.
It's easier said than done to get out of this-this isn't just a 'poor neighborhood.' If you're out in the boondocks with no transportation or way to get out to find work, what do you do?
@shawnielee1976 YES- there are ppl. who can do better & having tons of kids with no way to support them is foolish-I agree with you on all that. YES-a lot are ignorant but they don't know it because so is everyone around them. A lot of these ppl. are like they're caught in a time loop-they're still slaves looking to be taken care of instead of helping themselves.
I did say I agreed with you to a point, but it's also true that these ppl.'s forefathers were used & they have nothing to show for it!
@politelypompous I agree that there is no simple solution and that it is harder to get out of that situation than it appears. But people have to help themselves. It starts with an education and parents who enforce learning on their children. You are right, they probably don't even realize how ignorant they are (and that doesn't mean stupid.) It is very sad. But just because you're poor doesn't mean you can't clean up your neighborhood, clean your home, learn in school etc. Have some pride!
@shawnielee1976 Jobs might come to that area and things might improve if they cleaned things up. Teach your kids that they can do better...to stay in school, get good grades and MOVE out of that area if it's so bad. Don't keep repeating the same mistakes. And yes, stop having kids you can't afford and bringing babies into that world of poverty and despair. There is free birth control everywhere!
@shawnielee1976 Yup-I agree with that...especially your last sentence. There's no need to be sloppy and dirty because you're poor. I can understand that if one doesn't have running water it would be hard to keep things clean, but at least be neat.
I had a friend growing up-her mom was a single parent to three kids and they were really poor...but when you went to their house, you could eat off the floor, I swear. The mom insisted on everything being orderly and clean-so it can be done...
@politelypompous You are totally right! I am a Mother to 8 children (5 boys and 3 girls) and we don't have a whole lot of money but we keep our home very clean and neat and do the best with what we have. We don't ask for welfare or handouts and make it on our own. We may not have the nicest furniture or newest television but our house is spotless and my kids understand what hard work is and value everything they have. I just don't like whiners...lol. Change you're life if you are not happy!
lead by example. start picking that shit up 1. start growing your own shit and fuck the juke joint. kids wanna eat let em go pick it. lol what about the church?
all i see is blacks living like this in mississippi, show me some white living like this and ill say we equal in these living situations.white don't give a damn about blks down there, never have, say a blk lady working at a place cooking fish for white lady for 17 yrs,was making 5 $ per hr after 17 yr.don't tell me it not a racial thing.
So it's agricultural, and machines pick cotton now, so there are fewer jobs. Now, if someone got a major tax break to build a cotton mill in the Delta, instead of in the Far East, there would be jobs. Cotton is all I can wear, and I'd pay more for good-quality home-grown clothing, if it were MADE IN USA. Our jobs have gone overseas, and that's our major malfunction.
@jujubean54ify Your analysis is spot on correct. These people and many more Americans like them are sacrificed on the alter of free trade. Though U.S. multinationals have set up manufacturing operations here in my country (Ireland) in the past, we are now suffering in the same way. In fact a lot of Western Europe has this issue of importing cheap Asian produce and governments borrowing huge sums to pay welfare to unemployed people so they can buy these cheap imports. One word - unsustainable.
@gearoiddom My great-great grandparents left Ireland during the Famine, rather than starve. Now, a diaspora of the young is occurring there, b/c of the real-estate bubble's calamitous burst, and the resultant crippling unemployment . It breaks my heart, to see them scattered like the Wild Geese once were.
@jujubean54ify You are certainly very much in touch with what is going on over here in Ireland. The U.S. is not really an option this time as you guys all have your own troubles to resolve. On the plus side, I don't think the plight of the current Irish youth matches that which your great-great grandparents faced. I just travelled around remote parts of county Mayo at the weekend (a place heavily hit by the Famine) and you can still see tilled plots of land where the potato crop failed.
When you say "Man-Made" it helps to know who the "Man" is.No question that when african people were "released " from slavery and not allowed to build self-sustaining communities, this is the result.
why pay 4 or 5 hundred phone bill when cell phones are unlimited minutes for 50 dollars? I don't get it? I am sorry I don't see how you can't do better? make better decisions for you and your family?
This is not a proper reflection of Mississippi. You show these poor areas of our state and say this is typical? There are poor areas like this all around the country. Obama will give them money and they will continue not to work and be given everything by the government. Get a fucking job.
It looks to me that they want a FUCKIN JOB!!!! Where are they in these areas in Mississippi. These people need to bring a class action suit against this state. No Hospitals, dirty water and etc. This is unimaginable.
Yet I see no solutions. Still blame and now, the race card.
Because a person spoke of "these people". Anyone not already biased see's this as "these people, the welfare grantees", not "these people, the black ones."
The race card has been way too watered down these days to the point where in 10 years it will mean nothing. Kind of like having steak and potatoes everyday for a year. It just gets old.
Mrs. Harrell, with all due respect what is YOUR plan to end this? The government, aka, tax money? I have seen in one of your other videos where you say, "this is the typical Mississippi home." That is simply not true. These videos are informative to show poverty in the Mississippi delta but give no alternative to change it. Nobody wants to see others suffer but I ask you again, what is your solution? No jobs= money. Government wont change that fact. Please give solutions instead of blame.
We made the mistake of giving these people welfare to begin with. Now that we have ruined their will to work, we have to fix the problem. It all started with welfare and went downhill from there. Now these people are stuck in a place with no work and have been given money their entire lives. I'm from Mississippi and understand the problems better than most posting on here do.
Ok first of all what do you mean by "these people"... if your trying to say blacks. then your wrong..cause at first there were more "whites" on welfare than there were "blacks" so people LIKE YOU REALLY NEED TO GET THINGS CORRECT BEFORE YOU SPEAK. UNDERSTAND THAT
@ghostofjackie you have no idea how much thats right. gleenallan is not poor. there is tones of money to be made from the fishing. but no, bunch of lazy motherfuckers, im not joking either. tossing there trash every where thats why it looks so bad.
I am from this area (albeit several miles from where this is filmed). I can personally vouch that there is little to no work to be had in this community. There is only so much farm and farm related work to go around. This area is 100% dependant on agriculture. With that being said, there is not much will to work as long as there is full welfare benefits being poured onto these people. It's is a sad situation either way yo look at it. There is no work for anyone or motivation to work.
How can mismanagement of income be the root of a problem if there is no income to manage. Some people make the most unintelligent remarks i've ever heard.
You have a right to your opinion. Nevertheless, I do disagree with you. What does bad parenting have to do with the conditions of poverty in Glen Allan? I would like to hear your answer.
Your screen name should be bamboozled because that is exactly what you are. It is bad white ownership of this planet is why the world is so fucked up.
