  • What track or sound do u use on ur deck? is it simple track etc or scratch sound, sample?

  • SORRY ELLASKINS BUT THAT MIXER IS UGLY NOW!!

  • I am getting one of these Pioneer CDJ1000 MK3

  • Maybe because mk1 has some effects & talking about mk2 and mk3, mk2 has special quick return in jog mode and mk3 has hot cues, three tempo modes and touch brake/release feature but all the new models have them like dvj 1000 etc. I own a mk3 and its quite handy because too much effects is a headache.

  • does the cdj 400 return you to the cue point after scratching?

  • @remyg34 the PLAY, CUE and JOG WHELL of the cdj400 will do the same thing as shown os this video... i tryed to do that on my 400 and it works as whell... but it's a little bit dificult with a smaller jog

  • OLHEM MEUS VIDEOS TENHO VIDEO NO QUARTO COM 2SUB WOOFER DA PIONEER 308 VALEUUU PESSOAL

  • Just scratch your ass !!!

  • Ive been mucking around with turntables and cdjs for about a year now, i really wish id taken the time to watch some tutorials like this before i got too stuck into it. 1 question though, how do i find the good part or beat in the song to cue for scratching, most of the music i have doesnt really seem to have that nice high kick in it that yours does.

  • THIS GUY IS A AWSOME HELPS A BIGINNERS DJS

    THANKS MATE APRECIATE IT

  • that is the 1st good sounding CDJ

  • works mp3s on pioneer cdj 1000mk3 or 100 s?....sorry for question

  • you are a god of djs

  • hey can u plz make a vid to fix the problem in traktor scratch pro: the skipping problem and how to get new timecode software PLEASE!???!! I REALLY NEED SOME HELP WITH THAT.

  • Too expensive dude :P.. I'll stick with the Numark :P:P

  • Where is the feeling? The love? The Soul? With CD's you never feel this

  • Thnx bro

  • Ace teaching video man. Top man

  • it doesn't automatically do it for u..but by using the BPMs and the graphics on the screen that show u the beat..it makes it 1000 times easier to match the beat because u don't necessarily have to hear if the beat is matched ..u can see it...and the best part is being able to keep them matched by constantly speeding or slowing one track up to stay align with the other all by SEEING when the beats are moving out of match instead of hearing.... --DJ ANONYMOUS

  • @portknoxkid247 you still have to know if the beat is matched by ear. There is no interface that shows a visual matching of the beats. It does have a beat counter that is easier to use than the dots on a 12oo, though. I agree with what you are saying, many people think that there is a "sync" button on these, what really is great is the key lock button that allows you to keep the same key regardless of the tempo.

  • @HDiGITTY Yes, serato most certainly does show if the beat is matched or not...you set the same bpm first...then you cue a down beat of the song and assign it you the numbers on your laptop IE: the number "1"...by having caps lock on you tap the number "1" to the beat of the song you are listening to ...and if u look closely at the graphics you see the beat matching with the down beat of the song that is currently playing....so yes.. it is easier if u listen and match by ear...

  • @HDiGITTY cont...however...you do not necessarily need to be listening...as long as you can identify the diff wavelengths of the beat you can match it with just using your eye and not listening to either song...i have done it ...not live..because that is stupid and well impossible sing the song is playing...but i have done it without playing either song with the volume up in my house...many people that own serato software aren't even familiar with how easy it is to mix and match beats...

  • idk why you guys are mentioning serao when this video has nothing to do with it..but u most certainly can beatmatch using serato..

  • AMAZING VIDEO!!! thx bro!

  • hey jonathan this is really important ,,, i have 2 tracks in beat and every thing is fine but when i make a loop it goes out of beat???

cant i mix a track out with a loop of the track coming in ???

    explain plz :D

thnx 4 ur vids really helpful

  • Comment removed

  • @karimmaged90;

The problem is that your loop isn't exactly on beat. If your loop is perfect then you won't have any problems

...the shorter your loop, the harder it will be to keep in time if your loop isn't exactly on beat

  • John Where's the 2nd Video???? Cheers! Mike "DJ ZIM"

  • are there still cdj users in the world that can't figure out this by them selves??? unbelievable, even a 3 yr old kid don't need no explaination.

  • cant wait for the second one!

  • Hey J !

I really enjoy your work and your tutorials, but real scratch/turntablism Dj's use and forever will use Vinyl! And Today i've stayed sad to saw a scratch tutorial on a Cdj! Don't let the vinyl die! Much respect!

  • @kesh30 if you use Vinyl you support terrorism... Im joking.

  • @kesh30 yeah, wanna carry crates of wax to every gig? i can bust up in a joint with my whole rig in and set in MY BACKPACK!!! im so sick and tired of you dipshit assholes all out there saying " oh digital sucks, vinyls' the only way to go" get a grip you muppet, this is 2010, sure nothing beats the sound of vinyl, but pioneer turnies do a damn good job making it sound legit. just quit hating on digi users and start appreicating turntablism for what it is, we love it either way,all of us djs

  • @GETABAGADRO Well said!!

  • @kesh30 You dont have to watch if you dont want to :) it wont make you sad.

This is a new craft, not replacing the old... just an alternative :)

  • Thanks John for doing this Video. keep them coming on CDJ 1000. Cheers Mike N DJ ZIM MIami, FL USA

  • would you be able to do this with a cdj 400?

  • Thanks J!

    Great stuff as usual!

  • i never used a turn table

  • true the three picks of producers and DJs are vinyl,CDJ and Digital DJ.

  • This is helpful. I have a VCI 300 and have been trying to learn to scratch on it. The CDJ is the closest technology so this helps. Thanks

  • Umm... Just BTW, those knobs at the top right control how fast the CDJ starts and stops.

What I mean by "starts" is how fast it picks up. You can have an instant start at normal speed, or you can have it speed up as if it's vinyl.

I think ellaskins should have pointed that out.

Also, this is the CDJ-1000 MK3 NOT the CDJ-2000.

  • great tutorial but all i have is a gemin 3600 and it dont scratch those pioneers are so much money :(

  • great video

  • great video.. I still think it takes a lot more skill to spin on vinyl.. i have cdj's and vinyl..... when i see a dj mixing on vinyl for some reason I have more respect for him as a dj... just my opinion...

  • Agreed.. But I 've seen even the best named DJ's out there who know how to mix, but destroy great music with over scratching instead of going with the flow of the track.. I'd say it depends on the person with a great ear for music.. Not for a gimmick.. I respect turntablist out there for I am a rookie.. But You have to have a opened for music.. It shouldn't always be about rep and whos the coolest! It's about good quality music and what you cand do for it... Believe it!

  • actually when you think about it a cdj relies on the fact that his technology is going to function properly, cause lets face it. Digital Tables fuck up :( Vinyl is more direct and yeah harder in essence, but the people you should really lack respect for are those people using serato scratch live to beat match and do all the work for them.

  • serato is the only program that does not do it

  • serato doesn't beatmatch for you. It just allows you to take your whole collection with you on your laptop.

  • well you get my point, as long as you do the work and not the computer, then yeah you get credit there. And sorry for the confusion about serato, I meant to say Traktor, but serato was on my mind. Horray for not being able to edit youtube comments.

  • Serato does not beatmatch for you at all.

  • okay...well matching wavelengths together isnt beatmatching by ear. why do you see djs using serato or traktor without headphones?

  • you are the best man!!!

  • each to there own an all...and I've never even used any but I cannee stand cdj's, they are so light n flimsy plasticky etc.

sorry I know I'm gonna get boshed for that but they are lol

  • great vid j

  • cool stuff :)

  • I dont think you can really do things with vinyl, that you can do with CD players.Like looping and when you start the song on a CD player it starts immeadetly in the real speed.

  • If Pioneer sends you stuff. Why dont you do a review of CDJ-2000?

  • Nobdy can even buy them yet, they are not in shops til november...

  • Well i hope we can get a review around that time.

  • me 2

  • im not the best dj in the world, but i love djing and music 2

  • there is a flash memory inside the player ,cd disk doesnt even have to spin

  • by any chance r u selling any of ur cdjs?

  • Great Video M8, I am sure hoping you get around to spinning later today for the lot of us! By the way, if u do get around to getting a show on later bring a good dose of Soul..!

    Have a great day J

  • 4:32 "Peanut butter jelly"?

  • lol

  • hey Johnathan are you getting the new pioneer players, such as the cdj 2000 and the 900's ??

    cheers

  • pioneer is already sending him a free pair to use and to make demos

  • CANT BELIEVE YOU RUINED THE MIXER LIKE THAT!! man i would never do that to mine

  • can be taken off at any time. j

  • yeah i know, just sayin though lol It def looks much better without i think. Your tutorials are awesome though dude!

  • I always wondered, is that a magazine cover?

  • @ellaskins so its not really sticky? It looks pretty sweet, but it would hurt the resale of the mixer IMO. I have a DJM400 and I will probably want to upgrade one day. great video.

  • "Butterrugs" reduce rumble on decks quite a lot though J.

Since they're so thin they limit wobbling and only really move laterally.

So ya don't really NEED to turn down the bass in that circumstance.

I'm just splitting hairs I know, but someone with that problem might read this and find it helpful.

  • no worries... the more good info we can get out there the better.... this is good info.... thanks j

  • gavbag, I disagree. The original SL1200 mats are big thick rubber things for a reason - they dampen the platter.

Thin (or no) slipmats will not reduce rumble or platter vibration. Thicker mats will.

Choose something that's slippy but still fairly thick.

  • The "original" mats are designed for people who "Press play and walk away".

They're thick and they don't rumble because they're not felt, they're a hard rubber that clings to the record and does not have any give in any direction. if you apply pressure DOWNWARD onto the record, it will not give way to that pressure.

The lateral movement of the record is the only place it can move if you remove this cushioning.

Thickness in itself isn't it, its thick cushioned felt wobbles and rumbles.

  • 5 stars J!
