Remove and sell the gold but keep the tungsten. Tungsten is used in making machine tools which are the only machines capable reproducing themselves and used in making heavy engineering facilities w/c is used in machine building facilities w/c is used in manufacturing all kinds of manufacturing factories that produces real wealth. Gold & silver is useful if there is real physical tangible goods and services to buy it with. What will you do wt gold and silver when nobody is making & selling goods?

@mitchploeg the reason for this is there is adjustments that can be made to the currency. There are still problems of course, but check out some of the issues the countires had in the past with gold backed dollars. when the price of gold skyrockets it affects the amount your cash is worth, spain at one point was flooded with gold and it would take hundreds of dollars or more to buy a loaf of bread. with no gold backing you can at least try to stop inflation, or inflate it if you have to.

I have a suggestion to combat this problem. Inspired from holes punched into used casino playing cards for resale. Why don't they make the bars a bit bigger than usual and then purposely drill a hold into the middle or maybe even 3 holes if the bar is big, so one can see the insides and drill marks to verify the fake filling. The end product would still weigh the same but just look a bit ugly with holes. At least it would be impossible to have a fake fill throughout.
