I own a Polara same year, different color. I have a 360 small block in it. It's in amazing shape for only getting it for 1 grand and I have plans for it =) but any suggestions on what I should do with it?
I had the same model except for the bumper guards, it was 1 yr old when sold by the Okla Dept of Wildlife, mine had a 400 that wasn't much on take-off, I almost maxed the 140 mph speedometer out on the Keystone. At 19 yrs old gas was hard keep in her so she had to go.
Ahhhha...oh the days when a police car could pull a 150 foot holeshot and the sound of a 4barrel carb sucking fuel and air so loud you would swear it was gonna swallow the hood too..real cars..real badass cars. This baby is awesome!!

I bought one of these in Austin Texas in 1981 for $180 and drove it to Oregon as fast as it would go. I'll never forget that trip.

But will it take us to Sugarland?

We had one. The radiator was too small and the electrical inadequate, but otherwise it's a classic land yacht!

@tallzag: Hey man, get yourself a tall rear end, and you'll be making a killing on the highway, too.

Lots of crash protection. What are the performance specs on this?

Ben Johnson drove exactly the same model in the Spielberg film The Sugarland Express

@Varnsen2 Joe Don Baker drove a brown 1972 Polara in the 1973 version of 'Walking Tall'

I think Harvey Keitel drives a Polara on the US version of the show Life On Mars.

It doesn't need a blower to kill Crown Vics.

Amen especially the 1969 Polara's 375 hp 440's rip snort murder machines they were!

I meant Buford Pusser.
70goldtop 3 years ago
That's what I was thinking. If it had the 'SHERIFF' front plate and some bullet holes it would be the Walking Tall car.

Where's Beuford Pusser?
