How you know that I do nothing and that in my underwear.....
I' ll give you that christianity has had a civilizing influence. But I' d rather say: it is western culture that has been civilizing, accidentally brought over by people who say they are christians.
All real progress in the west has been made after we took a firm distance from christianity, no pope or minister has invented penicilline!
The discoverer of penicillin, Alexander Fleming enrolled at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, London, later joined the research department at St Mary's as an assistant bacteriologist. Hummm --- ST. MARY’S – sounds kinda like CHRISTIANITY helped. And - He was cremated and his ashes placed in St Paul's Cathedral. I would say - perhaps a believer did discover penicillin. (and that has nothing to do with Western culture for he was Scottish and al lthat happened in Europe)
Good thing building wells. I wouldn't want to think of how many wells could have been constructed with the money spent on churches.
Ever thought about the noxious influence christianity has had on communities around the world, and Africa especially? These people maybe poor (most certainly they are) but that does not give anyone a license to kill their own culture......
People who do nothing complain the most. Don't be a critic - be a person that changes the world for the better. It's easy for someone to sit in their underwear typing comments on youtube rather than making a difference.
okay so if they are most poverty stricken, dont you think building wells, pumps, electric pylons or even roads or farming feilds be more productive????
The most productive thing to do is bring in Christianity. It helps people now and for eternity. Anywhere Christianity has gone, lives have improved - consider the hospitals, orphanages, the elevation of women, lives transformed, civil liberties igniting, the abolishing of slavery, the advancements in modern science in John 1:46 Nathanael asked, "Can anything good come from Nazareth?" The answer: Jesus did and He changes EVERYTHING!
We are building wells for villages too. We also provide resources that improve life. Giving clothing and supplies that enable life to be a little easier.
