They only had so much material obviously, they only got as far as a 5 minute set on a comedy special.

Later, the better version was recorded at a special they were doing, which would require a lot of time killers and much better efforts.

It might not be as polished as some of their more recent performances, but just listen to the bass: it's very well recorded at the very least.

It's always fun listening to alternative recordings too - they might have improved the songs since, but even these earlier versions are great.
