OMG! I just LOVE how he closes his little oildrop eyes when you cuddle him! He's really getting into it! I bet those little feathers feel just like warm silk!!!
Your parrolet is soo welll behaved I have 2. One is Rocky(Male) and Milli(Female). Milli is the only one who will actually listens to me she follows me too. Rocky is hard to control though. He is very aggressive but very afraid of us. He fights with Milli too. Their wings are clipped but they're starting to fly again. How did you train your bird?
Hi, i bought a Celestial Parrotlet yesterday, from a very good breeder, i think i'm gonna call HIm Chii Chii, But the problem is, he's abit skittish, for example, i open the little compartment in the cage, put my hand him, give him abit of millet, and he's happy, then i stroke his beak JUST But when i do it, he tries to get his beak round my finger i'm not sure if he's trying to bite, and if i get him out the cage, he flies round the room I'm not sure what steps to take to get him used to me - F
@XChantalStarlightXX are you stupid? you do realize YOUR hands will look like this too one day dont you? by the way this is not a budgie... its a parrotlet....
I just got my Parrotlet almost 2 weeks ago, she's about 6 months old i named her Jovie, she's already starting to let me pet her like this.Yours is very cute little boy :)
Oh man he loves being petted just like my Parrotlet Blue. He would sleep in my palm and fall asleep when I would pet him. He especially loved being rubbed along his lower mandible. I miss him. He was only around 4 months when he died though :( (yesterday)
You're so lucky to have a parrotlet that actually likes that! Oscar(my parrotlet) just HATES to be touched, he either bites -(REALLY HARD - Sometimes) - or flys back to his beloved cage! How do you get them to realize how nice it is?
he probably wasnt hand raised.. or doesnt get enough time with you either or. Most birds are really friendly if theyre hand raised and given at least four hours of attention a day.
I loved this clip. My parrotlet likes hiding on my shoulder, or standing on one finger with my hand positioned over him. He usually falls asleep after a few minutes, which may or may not include yawning.
The median price for a parrotlet (at least when I was in NY, when I owned one) was about $150 as a hand-raised adult, if you got them from a breeder. Stores jack up prices to ridiculous levels.
Parrotlets are really lovey (if they're into you, that is. If not, that big beak is a weapon). Mine would always tunnel into the folds of a bedsheet that I'd crumple up, and he'd also let me clean off the pinfeathers on the back of his neck and his head.
please can someone tell me what they think the best and worst thing about parrotlets is. i am thinking of getting one soon and i would like to know what to expect. thankyou very much
I got a cute Parrotlet a couple of weeks ago. I've been doing the scratch his head while he's wrapped in a blanket and that is going ok.
He still is anxious and flighty and biting though. He is about 4 mths old. I'm wondering if I should go back and get an even younger bird. Or do you think I should just keep working with this guy? I don't want a parrotlet that won't snuggle, or bites and won't come etc. Had a parokeet like that once and it just ends up sitting in the cage all the time.
Can anyone help me? I have a Pacific Parrotlet and she was bound to me once I met her, she loved to be snuggled, but a few days after she started to bite me, and fly away from me, can anyone tell me why??
Hi! Sorry to hear you're having all that trouble. How old is she? PizzaPete is now in that mode too..;-/ but, I know why. He's getting so territorial! Give her some distractions or can you think of something in particular that scared her? Parrotlets seem to remember Everything that may have caused her to act differently. Try to start all over again from square one and see if you can't pick up on what's making her fly. Offer lots of treats in your hand too. Gae
@zionx4 growing up they tend to get nasty by sexual maturity just keep working with him and become nice again but you'll have to take a bite every now and again anyway.

Awe what a cutie, I just picked my baby parrotlet up on sunday and wow shes quite the biter. At times she just holds on. How do i train her not to bite and alow me to clddle her?
Hi! Sorry I'm so late to respond but wasn't logging out and YouTube must have finally said, 'that's enough of That...' so now I have to be a good girl. How old is this little birdie (name?)...if she's a baby (8 weeks) she shouldn't be biting that much. Possibly she wasn't hand fed but for now, stay away from the beak (obviously..lol) and try to teach her ''step ups'' on your finger for starters. Pizza is now a little over a year and he can get ornery too. Keep me posted! Gae
Hi! Pizza was more ''snuggly'' when that video was taken. He's over a year now and is Really asserting himself now! I get bitten every now and then, believe me! 6 weeks is very young so you shouldn't have any problem with him trusting you. Since he is being hand fed, you shouldn't have Any problems in that area! He's already used to hands. Boombella is the lady to ask on 'tips' in fact, it was she who first introduced PizzaPete to this little trick. Love to hear from you. Gae
my parrotlet was old when I got him from the pet store where he didnt get much attention, and its really sad cuz he wont let me pet him at all, and Im trying to be patient and calm but hes got a bad temper. I still love him though, I wish he knew how much he would like to be snuggled.
OH NO....how come?? Tell me all about him/her. PizzaPete has his 'moments' believe me. He's getting into these 'fixation' phases where he will bite hard if you bother anything he's fixated on, say a spray bottle for instance and he loves sitting on drawers you pull out. We put a stop to that one because he was becoming down and out mean if you disturbed him. I think it brings out the 'nesting' urge in them for some reason.
