The enclosure is tuned to 28hz or so. Fairly high for a HT sub I know but I had a hard time finding the flared port tubes in the correct length. At the time I was happy with it, and still am.

The subs and wiring need to support the ohm load the amp puts out. My plate amp can be run at 8 or 4 ohm. My DVC sub allowed me to wire it to the amp at 4 ohms, giving me the most production out of the amp (1000w). Your receiver should have a sub out line that connects to the amp, allowing only the lows to reach the amp anyway.

Was it wired properly? How was the gain set? If the amp cuts out or goes into protect it's for a reason and not a faulty product. The amp is doing its' job by not letting a clipped signal get to the driver.

I guess I consider 40-45% volume almost all the way up, because once you pass that, one of the components will usually start introducing distortion; most of the time it's the receiver. I don't think I've ever heard anything turned up more than about two-thirds of the way that doesn't sound like crap.

That's kinda a question that can be answered easily. If there is a piece of Plexiglas covering a hole in the wood, it pretty much says yes, he cut a hole in it. And also, he could have used some of that strong metal that hold's pipes together. Ive used that a lot, and it holds things really steadily

How many watts can it take? That is a question involving the application and amp settings. The Q is a great driver and like most great drivers is capable of more than manufacturer's spec's. As long as you don't clip it with improper gain settings you can probably run her with 1500w or so. Just my opinion, not to be quoted. This sub project was my third and I'm currently tinkering with plans on my fourth using SI's newest version of the 15" Mag. Sure to please once again! Maybe early fall.

With good/average woodworking skills not that hard. Depends on how difficult the design. I used 1/2" plexi for the window so it was a bit tricky. The box needs to be tuned properly to your sub's specs. This design uses a 1000w Dayton plate amp and I also added some internal neon lighting. Took about a full day to construct and carpet. Cost complete for my design was around $750. Well worth it if you're into movies as well as music.

Not at all! I used this very same amp to power a 15" Mag driver from SI previous to this. The amp works well! I'm happy with it so say the least. Dayton makes a great product. Who says you can't use a high end car audio driver for HT use lol? Works well for me!!!!

Thanks. My old setup with the Mag was placed right next to my big screen. I had to move it, it was shaking the crap out of it and I was afraid of losing it lol.
