@d57z12 thats what i love about youtube 100s of viewers think something sounds good then you get the odd one or two who don't ,good onya d57z12 -you have a good day mate !!!
See what I mean?? Like Buddy Holly & other 50s-60s singers, Robin Luke's classic is a tune that can absorb current pop culture themes & singers' interpretations and still stand the "test of time". Wonderful!!
never heard this before. pretty good cover of robin luke's song. like the orig better as it has that hawiian ching and calypsoesque way. 3 decades later it evolved into bob marley's stir it up. xxxooo and so much more. . .
Re Nunez et al...I think it depends which version you heard first...I'd never heard Robin Luke version till today, and while I can dig the rockabilly vibe, this Barry Crocker one is the one I remember from my teens, and It hits the spot. Probably only relaesed in Oz.
Thats ok Nunez , but this version suits the Suzi Q vibe far better ,plus this vid gives other people outside of Australia the chance to hear Barry Crocker's version .
Yep, I agree with that. I guess B. Crocker's version didn't get much airplay in California. I don't recall ever hearing it on the radio. Thanks for giving folks like me a chance to hear it!
No need to educate ... But I suppose I could have communicated my message more clearly. What I meant to say is that the song did not evoke any "good or warm feelings" within me, i.e, it simply didn't move me at all like the original version. I guess it's a matter of individual musical tastes -- what may turn me on, might turn you off and vice-versa.
Actually not...I was referring to John Farrar's music production...he went on to success as the lead writer/producer for Olivia Newton-John's US triumphs..he was also a cornerstone of one of Australia's top bands in the mid 1960's (The Strangers)..he also had a great pop falsetto voice...do I sound like a fan of his???
he was doing a livr gig one night , they requested this song , but the band couldn't do it live , re production facilities at the gig weren't up to it
Love the outfit at 2:24!

I did a tattoo on suzie in the early nineties, the day after I saw her in concert, made my day it did.

I love the Suzi Quatro pics, but I don't like this version of Robin Luke's classic song; it is devoid of any feeling.
