  • @Maper555 LOL!!! really?I would never of known.....you nob.

  • this is so cool!!!

  • If real men don't need weapons then explain war to me...good knife though.

  • @MrPdante Thanks:),war is a terrible thing, wouldn't it be great if we could all just get on,prob is there's always some pratt who's greed & bad perversions cause the good guys to take action to help those poor innocents who are caught up in it all, like these bloody riots, idiots who have no idea running about looting & causing all kinds of probs with no valid reason,i have come to the conclusion its just human nature,we're a naturally selfish, agressive species & WILL ultimately destroy ourselves.

  • @ARCEYE78 true enough I suppose.

  • i have a serious question, im a complete amaetur at this kind of stuff but could i use a solder gun to fuse to pieces of metal together.

  • @acr2121 Im no knife making expert but i am a metalworker/welder,you will not fuse with the low heat from a solder gun,you will either need to weld with an arc to join metal or to use a forge, both require a lot of developed skill,if you dont have these options then this basic knife i just carved with a grinder, glued the wooden handle and carved again to finish,my stainless trenchknife on the other hand i welded & took more time and skill,a forge is very easy to make, lots of ideas on youtube :)

  • @ARCEYE78 ok thanks anyway.

  • @ARCEYE78 you could use an acetylene setup with a welding tip as well.... depending on how much strength it needs to have

  • Looks like a good short machete;it's not a knife unfinished like that and that size.

  • ok so do u know where to find a slab of 1095 high carbon steel this .25in thick and 20 inches overall.

  • nice dude your should make another i liked it looks extremly nice im just geting into knifes i have like over 30 but i never thought of it like this :P

  • @talorseesu ,Thanks mate :)have a look at my stainless trench knife, although i did not make the blade,i now wish i did,20 knives!! nice collection :)

  • @talorseesu thanks

  • very nice knife, keep it up!

  • @lacerta69 Thankyou, have a look at my trechknife as im sure you will like that too, spent much more time on that as this was just a quickie :)

  • a real man doesn't need a knife

    he uses his dick

  • @TheUltimateAssasins If your gonna use your dick then most men will def run from you XD

  • @TheUltimateAssasins you should invest in a knife with how small that thing you call your dick is, my girlfreind got more clit than you have dick

  • very nice,great work bud

  • @CobblersThumb Thanks Cobbler,i appreciate your comment.

  • looks nice, remids me of the ancient Scandinavian saxe knifes :)

  • @xjordanx232 Thanks mate,i appreciate the comment :)

  • @xjordanx232 That doesn't look very similare to a sax...

  • vhere u get that carboon steel?

  • @generalmajot A previous workplace, so it went in my collection along with many usefull pieces of stainless of which one nice piece was used to make my stainless trenchknife, offcuts may be obtained from machining workshops if asked nicely :)

  • that looks mad bro

  • @scooter94100 Thanks buddy,intimidating looks are the key X)

  • this looks like the macheta from preadotors 2010 awsome

  • @keco28 Cheers mate :)

  • Hey ARCEYE. You replied to one of my comments. Well to show you what I was talking about in regards to tempering. I just uploaded all the videos of my project BOWIE, and a razor edge abuse test! Check it out on my channel.

  • Hey ARCEYE. You replied to one of my comments. Well to show you what I was talking about in regards to tempering. I just uploaded all the videos of my project BOWIE, and a razor edge abuse test!

  • can i buy

  • @keco28 No, sorry :)

  • I sure hope you know how to anneal, normalize, heat treat and temper properly. Otherwise it's a big giant POS!

Make a video of it chopping a 2x4 in half three times, and then shave your arm with it as proof of it's edge holding capability. This is a *MUST* for any knife hand made! It is what I put my knives through!

  • @CodyOebel well that was a bit of a bitchy comment, seriously fella this was a rush job made for one purpose of which i will not disclose on here due to our nanny state its no peice of shit of which im sure you would agree if it was coming towards you at full force, its basic design was to hack, its very sharp although it may not hold edge for long it does not need to as its never been used and hope never have to and also very tip heavy to aid its passing through any unfortunate ~~####~~ :)

  • @ARCEYE78 Nahh I wasnt griping, but hoping you would look more into properly treating the metal. You made a nice peice of art, but let me explain to you 5160 spring steel is WORLD KNOWN for toughness, and edge holding. Let me further this! Look up Tai Good, and Tim Lively WM9 Primitive knife making. Also Knife Making Unplugged by time lively. To give you an idea how much you short changed your knifes potential. That knife you made if you knew how to heat treat it. Could CUT A STEEL BAR -cont

  • @ARCEYE78

    -Continued

If you properly treated that knife's steel. You could give it a razor edge, take an peice of REBAR.. place that knife in a vice edge UP, put that rebar on the edge, hit that rebar with a hammer until that knife cuts it in half, and then shave your leg with it!

You can FLEX 5160 spring steel to un-imaginable states and it's goes right back to normal with no breakage. Were talking superior steel you could have got more out of. Thats all I am saying friend!

  • @CodyOebel Thanks for the info mate, its amazing and very interesting on the toughness and durability of different alloy steels,i hope later on in life when things are not so busy to make myself a forge and make a proper hand made blade,i an imagine its a very satisfying experience :)

  • @CodyOebel btw my skills are great & im very capable with metal as i work with it everyday,if i had a forge i would love to fully handmake a knife especially from braided high carbon cable for that beautiful pattern finish but times the biggest enemy and this was NOT a showpeice more of a ghetto machette,my S/S trenchknife on the otherhand is a showpeice but still not up to my high standards but i did not have the tools to get it perfect & how i really wanted it,cost me £0, so cant beat that :)

  • @ARCEYE78

You really need to look into Tim Lively's knife making unplugged, or WM9 Primitive knife making ;)

Their knives are on sale via web 800-1000$. All done with no welder, or machines! They can flex the blade 90 degree's and it returns to it's original position, and doesn't stay bent.

If you have a shop vac with reverse blower, moon walk blower, or a leaf blower. Then you have an easy to make forge. You just need some tunneled wind, and your good to go mate! It will MELT metal!

  • Awesome job man, that looks great!

  • @xCOLONELDIRTYx Thanks dirty :)

  • Cool, it's kinda between a Dagger and a Sword. :p

  • That looks brutal as hell!

    Awesome job!

  • @BCI9279 cheers BC ,not bad for a rush job :)

  • @ARCEYE78 Not at all! If you make any more of these, let me know ;D I'd happily buy one from you.

  • how do you ad the walnut to the kife metal

  • @300SmellyFeet well i cheated and keyed up the metal then de greased and used a high strengh 2 part epoxy glue, glued the wood oversize and then clamped together, then with a flap disc carve to shape finish with a high grade glass paper and oil or varnish to bring out the beauty of the wood. it would be better to add two rivets but i did not bother .

  • very nice knife. there is one problem with it that i can see...if it is possible for you to drill through the tang of your knife with a normal metal drill (to fit the bolts), chances are very big that the blade is not proberly hardened. it is allmost impossible to drill in hc-steel that has been hardened....so the dillemma is, if you got the bolts fitted its probably best to take of the handle and harden your blade. if you ruined your handle trying to fit them you´ll need to normalize. ask me..

  • @huandogofwar Thanks, im not even gonna try to finish this as it was a rush job to fit a certain purpose and time in my life,as you say tool steel will no doubt resist a standard HSS drill bit let alone if its hardened and there's no way i could remove the handle without damage as its epoxied in place but it fits its purpose very well anyways, thanks for your comment :)

  • @ARCEYE78 you can also harden the steel by deformation. that means you have to hammer on the edge lightly for a good while...a technique used in the bronzeage. (metals like bronze, silver, copper etc. is hardened this way) this will get you a shallow hardening that you will need to redo every time you sharpen, but you wont sharpen that often if you do so. that is of course only nesecery if you think the metal is to soft. and thank you for uploading

  • @huandogofwar mmm interesting so this must be hardening due to the material being compressed ?, i wish i had more time on my hands as i would love to build my own forge and make a blade from scratch, maybe when my kids get older and leave home LOL!!,

  • @ARCEYE78 that is correct ... but how will you teach your kids to make knives without a forge, i´m teaching mine. you can build a gasforge from a weedburner and some steeltube or a coalforge from a used brake plate of a truck (and a hairdryer) theres plenty of ideas on youtube...good luck

  • @huandogofwar hmm very interesting info you've got there

compression of the soft metal surface which makes it a little denser/harder

    thanks you

  • i love it men!!!

i like knives and sharp objects!!

  • @horribleman232 cheers mate,love the metal :)

  • at theillusionist6677, a forge is incredibly easy to make, can make due with as little as a old charcoal grill, some pipe and fixtures, and some refractory cement, takes all of a day to assemble and a wk or two for the refractory to set depending on your humidity and temp, I built one like that when I was 17, thing still can produce blades just fine over 6 yrs later.

so most of all dont think building one is out of your range, they are very simple things, best of luck

  • @jtphantom would you upload some pictures of your forge please...and let me know if you do

  • i would make one of those if i can

  • Jesus that could do some damage! an evil looking thing lol great Vid m8 5*

  • im stuck between calling it a shortsword and a machete

  • @theillusionist6677 LOL yeah i think i better re name this but like you say to what??

  • @ARCEYE78 idk, but it looks similar to those short swords in the movie 300

  • @theillusionist6677 well short sword it is :) i hope to get a forge set up in the summer so will make some more examples from scratch.

  • @theillusionist6677 a good forge can be hard to make, so good luck with that, and it can also be expensive

  • @theillusionist6677 yeah i have found very little on detailed construction so not sure as i'll prob not use it enough to warrant the build but i know someone who has one so i'll def have a go either way :)

  • @theillusionist6677 its not a machete because the was its shaped so technically its a short sword lol just wanted to let you know ;)

  • @arenmcg shape has almost nothing to do with it, but ok, but yea, its a short sword, machetes arnt that thick, it shows the diffrence between being made to hack through bushes and the hack through people

  • @theillusionist6677 i actually got a machete a couple of weeks ago it has about a 10 lb blade on it and the blade is quite a bit thicker then this actually and the shape is the only way you can call it a machete, thats how you define the "kind" of blade it is otherwise we would call anything over 5 inches (5 being the legal limit for a knife to carry it around in public in canada) a sword and anything under a knife

  • @arenmcg 1. why the hell would you waste your money on a machete when you have that 2. ya whatever man

  • Nice handle...and knife! I really like it!!

  • @valio14 thankyou valio14:)

  • Very nice handle! Love to see more of your stuff

    5 stars man!

    JHogg

  • @butaangas thanks very much, i could of spent more time on this so may add some touches soon, i have my 316 stainless trenchknife im sure you'll love and will upload more vids soon, have a look at my channel pic,its part of my current project own design 316 stainless steel double barrel blank fireing pistol :)

  • @butaangas stupid me cos im rushing (family around at mo) i forgot youve seen it already X), whats your next project ? something very shiny again i hope :)

  • @ARCEYE78

Sure it will be shiny again =)

  • I see you like a heavy handle. I have a roman style short sord (kinda) I made out of an 18" file. Dropped it on my leg and peeled some bone. It was a bit sharp. Where do you find you stainless?

  • OOOOOUCH not good :/ this was carbon tool steel but the trench knife 316 was from a previous workplace, none left now :/, im making my pistol from multi layers of 5mm 316 stainless to get the thickness and is in two halves, 6 layers in total and welded 3x for left and same for right side, not ideal but i dont have access to lathe or mill so you know how it is make do with what ya got :) so many projects, so little time X)

  • beautiful knife. more of a machete though. where did you get the tool steel? i need some good steel for when i build my forge.

  • thanks joegadd, yeah def machete, the metal i picked up at a previous workplace, you could ring around some metal work factories for an offcut of whatever grade steel your after, may even be free.... good luck with your forge.

  • awsome, thanks for the help.

  • you need more grind on the edge.

also knives aren't only weapons, they're tools.Real men don't have a problem with tools do they? :))

  • i must admit this was just a rush job, do you mean the depth of the edge? as i need to finish that but not sure how as im a little short on experience with using a grind stone, will be making some proper ones once my workshop is done and may even make a forge LOL yeah we never have prob with tools :P

  • dude thats an awesome knife nice work, this reminds me of a machete that the marines used in vietnam

  • thanks demonslayer, i got the basic idea from the crossed swords from the halo game, i should of spent more time on it but it fits its purpose very well :)

  • Nice work M8, as in the comments below, it is tip heavy, and your variation of a machete - nice one, I like the handle material you chose, and the finger grooves / swells are very well done. I enjoyed the vid, thanks for sharing it, and before I go, I don't see you saying "" Real men don't need to use weapons to commit crime "" ?? Its as you state "" Real men don't need to use weapons "" Period, good statement M8. and 100% accurate. 5X5&Fav&Save

  • thanks 777 ,looks like someone spammed your comment ? :/ some people obviously dont like being corrected,i really appreciate your comment, this was my first attempt at a basic knife i have since then upped my game and used my fav material stainless steel for many projects, check out my stainless steel trench knife as its my best work yet and im sure you'll like it also check out my channel background for another finished project :)

  • Hi yes I will go look and prob' admire ! haha! I just had a memory of when I was young (distant memory lol ), your YT tag, arceye... I remember getting that buy not listening to my betters eh! Lesson learnt - very quick - !! Funny thing though ? a while latter on in years, I got to have a sort of arceye, well, Red Eye, from smoking 'Erb'l tobacco ; =) !! "cough cough" Cant see no Spam ? well with my Bu**erd up eyes I wouldn't now would I ?? lol

  • LOL!! great memories of lessons learn't are sometimes the funnyest, i have been a welder for about 4 yrs and have not experienced arceye and hope not to as it sounds painful,ha ha red eye... not pink eye then LOL!! i have seen it in films but not sure if its a true thing, i'll have to try it on the mrs and wipe my arse on her pillow LOL!! nah i could'nt do that >:) as for the spam i removed it as we cant have that can we :)

  • Real men don't need to use weapons to commit crime...nice.

  • nice it reminds me of a machete its awesome thanks for showing us that knife

  • your welcome thanks for your great comment

  • nice work looks tip heavy tho

  • @DeHox Thanks....yes VERY tip heavy lol!! pretty much a machette but a little different to most. check out my stainless steel trench knife for a real balanced piece :)

  • awesome knife looks better than alot of factory knives

  • thanks very much pspmaxman2

  • Now THats a KNyfe

  • LOL!!:)

  • that realy nicely made great job i wish i could make knifes

  • thanks skaterflip, its not that hard but you need to be competant with a 4 1/2" grinder and have a good eye, grinders are super cheap (under a tenner) and i used tool steel as i have no experience in tempering metal and this you could get for nothing if you ask a metalworking factory nicely for an offcut, and practice with the grinder with impact goggles or you will get metal in your eyes X(

    :)

  • excellent job looks like, when finished it will be extremely useful and deadly.

i am very into making knives as well mostly wooden tho. but anyway fantastic job

    -Max

  • thanks max although you say that you make wooden knives they're an exellent training aid for knife dissarming

  • pretty awesome

  • thanks Bloodynavallint, got some more weapons projects almost finished so vids up in a month or less:)

  • i hear ya lol

  • very large knife indeed lol looks good nice job

  • Thanks ArcherBowArrows, i still haven't finnished it yet as i have so many projects, cannon, trench knife, rifle bench rest & many more LOL!! :)

  • nice work man! well done

  • thanks :)

  • Great Work mate, looks really good, will be even better when finished,

    Mike.

  • thanks mike i appreciate your comment:)
