Neva even knew sabbath were gigging in 1995. Call this performance wat u like but its much betta than dire shite that ruled in 1995 like blur n that. Alot of 90s brit pop bands except oasis were flat live
Back during the Dehumanizer tour, this would have been a great song for Dio to have covered, instead of all that Ozzy-era stuff. Tony Martin was hired because he sounded somewhat Dio-like and by reverse logic, Dio should have sung this, Headless Cross and Valhalla.
Sorry guys. I love Tony Martin, but Martin's voice is horrible on this song. He clearly can't hit the notes, cuts phrases short, and is constantly sharp or flat. What a mess.
I have adored the album Eternal Idol since it fell into my hands, every song stands the test of time. I would have loved to see them in this incarnation but they won't play these songs with Dio or Ozzy fronting!
@baldiloxbaldilox I agree! I loved the 'Seventh Star' album. Too bad his voice was shot so he only did about 6 concerts, before he was out,and Ray Gillen took over. I doubt Glenn will do it though, he hated knowing he was in Sabbath (we all know H&H is Black Sabbath). Glenn was told he was singing on a Tony Iommi solo album back in 1986, then record company, producers and of course manager Don Arden forced it to be labeled as a Sabbath album. Glenn barely agreed on touring.
On me it's a good song, not the best of the martin era, I prefer Immaculate Deception, or When Death Calls, however I've just noticed that the intro part- bridge section by tony iommi strongly resembles the ending riff of 'Disco Boy' by Frank Zappa...Surely it's not intentional, but i wanted to tell anyway 'coz it's funny...
I love all of Black Sabbath except for Born Again. I cannot see what people liked about that album. Sounded terrible and the songs were weak to me. Love the Tony Martin stuff just as much as the Dio and Ozzy stuff.
You know Ozzy is suing Tony Iommi for the rights to the name Black Sabbath?
@eli123ky Ooh, shame shame... That's a great album. The mixing was terrible, but listen to Trashed, Digital Bitch, Hot Line, and Zero the Hero... Excellent, top notch songs. Disturbing the Priest is great too, even though that one had to grow on me. The only thing awful about it is the cover.
No................... Tony Martin is a gggrrrrrreat singer, and far better the first the 2 singers that sabbath has had , this is just not the best sounding night for the band in general. Both Ozzy and Dio sounded far worse even at there best and noooooo hope of reaching the notes and carrying the songs to places that Tony has .Ozzy and Dio are brillinat singers ....just not with sabbath.
@tyrusvirus1 it was really cool sure beat a lot of stuff from the 90s at the time and it was well kind of cool, and it blended Dio and Ozzy type melodies together perfectly with a touch of modernism.
Black Sabbath has so many great albums and eras. I can't find one song on any of the albums that really sucks. There are songs I rarely listen to, that is a bit "filler"ish and that I'm not that fond of, but there are extremly great moments on every Sabbath release. More Sabbath fans should see beyond the Ozzy and Dio eras. The 'Born Again' era with Ian Gillan is brilliant. The 1986/87 Seventh Star days, w. Glenn Hughes/Ray Gillen is brilliant
@SilverTounge85 Never Say Die has no bad songs on it, yet the band personally hate it for the problems they were going through making it, yet it Rocks and it has mellow moments in it as well, I think it is underrated yet again
Just started listening to Tony Martin era stuff. And this is great! Sabbath seem to have more of a power metal sound with him at the mic! Thanks for posting \m/ \m/
Rondinelli is just awesome at this gig! I saw 'Sabbath in '95 on 7/4/95 in Detroit and I was really disappointed with Cozy Powell's uninspired playing. Bobby was great in the short time he gigged with 'Sabbath in '94 & '95. He's way better than Vinnie Appice too.
Rondinelli was indeed great. Cozy was great back on 'Headless Cross' and 'Tyr', by the time he had rejoined in late '94, I think he was only doing it, just to do something you know. He seemed bored on stage.
I know, but I still think it has it's moments. The 'Headless Cross' and 'TYR' lineup didn't have the same power and great performances on stage in 1995, as back in 1989/90 unfortunatly. Cozy Powell even left mid tour in 1995.
Hello spropaganda, Is there more of this concerta available? And bringing more information on Martins´s voice, I saw Sabbath on Sep 1994 and his voice was in the same level. He had problems with his voice maybe starting on the Cross Purposes Tour.
@flaviotp I saw them in London on that tour same thing. Martins voice was terrible. He himself said he had problems but Iommi wouldnt give him the rest he needed between songs. Martin already knew that he was gonna get the boot at the end of the tour.
Probably because it was so hot in there. I was there and it was like being in a massive sauna!! August is Malta's hottest month with average temperatures of 32'c with highs going above 36 at times so I can't really blame him for being breathless.
Yes I am an 80's metal fan and 90's and 2000's!! but particularly the 80's as they were by far the best metal years in my opinion and yes I am Maltese and as soon as I can work out how to do so I shall add you as a friend. Pleased to meet you by the way fellow countryman. HAIL!!
