  • Thanks for these tutorials! Whenever I'm hooping on my legs with pants on the hoop slides to my knees really quickly making it more difficult to jump back in. Any tips? Thanks!

  • Hey :) I've still been having problems with my hoop getting lower after I've gotten my leg out...I can keep it on my one knee for just a few seconds, but after that, even though it's still spinning, it starts getting closer to my ankle...any tips?

  • hello im a new hooper and thanks for the tutorial i got it down pretty well!

but i was wondering where i can get a good real hula hoop and what kind should i get thanks!

  • I have learned all of my tricks from you! Thank you so much! If you look up phat46, theres a video of me and my friend in the talent show in fifth grade! All dedicated to you!:)

  • I just want to thank u so much for your videos! I bought my 1st hoop at Wanee Fest 2010 last year and I've been practicing ever since. I don't know anyone in my area that can really hoop or teach me tricks, so I was just making stuff up. Once I realized there were hooping tutorials on YouTube I was all over it everyday. Thanks to hoopers like u I've taught myself a bunch of tricks and am very stoked to go to Wanee this April and show of my new moves. My confidence as a hooper has soared and I'm

  • You explained it so well that I jumped out after only three tries!

  • hothothot

  • i cant find anywhere how to pick up the hoop with your foot and start hooping without touching it by hand - please show this thank you

  • heey, whenever i do this, the hoop starts to go down below my knee. should i be going faster? or, what can i do to keep it where it is?

  • cool!!!!!!!!! ;p

  • is it bad that i keep my pusher leg in and take the other out because i tried this on a whim and thats how i did it and i kept trying and im fairly good at keeping it up i just cant get it back in

  • I'm waiting on my Pixie Hoop to arrive! I'm sooo excited! Yay for easy to follow tutorials! Thanks! :)

  • rrrr

  • ~You're ~cool~ and I hope I can one day do this!~

  • im still working on "popping" my leg back in.i think after seeing this for the millionth time i know what i did wrong tho.

  • what if you have really short legs? xD isn't it harder? T___T

  • ohhhh i can't wait to try this one :) i dance so i wanna try to do all my attitudes and shtuff :P its sucks though bc i just got my hoop yesterday and ive been practicing so much im covered in bruises annd all i wanna do is hoop but its hurts to bad in some parts

  • I know what you mean! There isn't enought time, (or pain medication) to hoop enough!

  • Just a comment, thanks for all your videos, I have learned almost everything from you and I'm in the school talent show now!

  • this is totally ur signature move! Awesome.ive learned a lot from ur tutorials these past few months and ive actually come pretty far w my hooping.theres 1 move im tryin to get down that tho.the off the shoulder.where u r hooping at the neck and kinda roll it off the back of ur neck/shoulder.ive seen u do it in another vid but how?????also isolations.....how are they done w a big hoop?

  • how cute is this? i love the q&a!!!

i love your tutorials, i have benefited from them greatly. i live on a small island in the caribbean (originally from canada) and have introduced hooping and your tutorials to several of the girls here. we love you!

    ok, down to business...

i'm hopeless at hooping on an angle and would love to learn. if you have any suggestions for doing this type of move around the hips and the upper body as well that'd be sweet.

    thanks!

  • I finally got this trick for the first time yesterday - thanks to this video!

I know you're a busy bee, but I was just wondering if you could pleeease make a tutorial on getting the hoop up from your feet?

I also hoop to the right, (and I'm also right-handed).

I noticed people have commented about the 'beam me up' (also called 'vortex', I think).

Still can't get the hang of that one :(

Thanks for all your tutorials - truly excellent stuff.

    xxx :)

  • I would also love a tutorial on getting the hoop up from the feet or just when it falls below your knees in general.

  • You're so good it scary.

  • Hey. I hoop and make my own hoops and use the 3/4 inch 160 psi tubing and am thinking about using the 1/2 inch. Is this beneficial?

  • I made the 1/2 inch as a set of 5. It's helpful when multi hooping but doesn't really have other major benefits, aside from easier to carry.

  • your a really great hula hoop teacher! i have learned a lot from you!

  • I love this tutorial... I would like to ask how long would it take to make some dance with hula hoop... I have talent show in my school after another two months... would that be enough?? Thanks for any reply!!

  • Hello Marcysia16,

If you practice everyday you most certainly could put a show together for the talent show. Make sure you choose your song soon and hoop dance to it lots.

    p.s. and smile!

  • I really enjoy your tutorials and have learned alot from you! Thanks! I can hoop at the knees, but I get terrible bruised from this, and it hurts like crazy. Is this normal? Will it get better?

  • Yep, bruises will happen.

Don't worry, it will get better. ; )

  • I have a request. I can lift the hoop above my head, hoop it round my hands a few times before putting it back down on my body again, but I seem to remember seeing a video of you bringing the hoop up and back down immediately. I was wondering how you do this? For me it seems my hand is in such an awkward position when the hoop comes off my waist and above my head that I need to hoop it a couple of times in order to get back into my swing again. Could you do a tutorial for this?

  • Youre tutes are brilliant! Could u demo upper body barrel rolls pleeeeease...well..upper body vertical i find ridiculously hard although I can do it, but I have to start it in the position, if you know what i mean. Would love to see this demonstrated, if you get chance! THANKS

  • you're so awesome, my 6 year old has been obsessed with this trick for weeks. Thanks for making such clear fun videos, you really make homeschool phys-ed interesting!

  • Not only are your tutorials excellent for everyone, whether they started yesterday or a year ago, your voice is also extremely pleasant to listen to when you're explaining tricks, and that helps a lot. You're so clear about explaining everything. Wonderful videos, the lot of them.

  • Dear Sandra! thank you very much for your very systematic and clear tutorials. You really do have a teaching talent and not just amazing hooping skills. The best of luck with everything!

  • Heyyy! I was just outside practicing this for like an hour. I've almost mastered it! It's very hard for me, because even though I hoop to the left, I put my right leg out. So I am forced to switch to putting my left leg out, which is almost awkward. Sometimes when I pull my leg out, I kick the hoop. YAY FOR BEING GRACEFUL! hehe. The sad thing is, I've been dancing Ballet on point for 4 years. Hehe :)

Hopefully you can give me some tips!

ADMIRE YOUR HOOPY-NESS SKILLS TOO MUCH - lauren ;D

  • U're awesome!! thanks for this tutorials, I'm learning a lot. I was just sondering what size ur hoop is, because I think mine is too small.... is there a standard size? and another thing.. I'm right handed and I hoop to the rght, but almost ALL of my friends do it to the left, why is that?? I really can't do it to the left :(

    thanks again!! keep hooping!

  • Hey Benjassa,

Bigger is easier for on the body hooping, smaller is easier for hand hooping and off the body stuff.

Larger diameter = slower rotation making it easier for you to respond.

Standard diameter is about 40 inches measured from the inside of the hoop.

Doesn't matter what hand you use normally; hoop whatever way you feel most comfortable. MOST people hoop left. I'm predominately a right hooper, like you. ; )

    ~ SaFire ~

  • it also looks great when sped up.

  • hey! awesome tutorial! learning a lot. i'm without a hoop right now so i can't practice till i make one, but when i do, i'll practice. =3 i do have a question though, kinda random. i'm left handed so everything always seems to go opposite from this "righty" world. does that play a part in hooping as well? are you right-handed or left? curious so i can understand the tutorials easier. ^^ again, kinda random. thanks. =D

  • Hello!

Handedness doesn't seem to play a part in hooping. I am right handed and I hoop to the right. MOST people hoop to the left. I try to keep my tutorials neutral or show both directions, but sometimes I can't do it well both ways. I'm working on my left current though and it feels cool to be learning the tricks all over again. ; )

    ~ SaFire ~

  • Hurray! Thank you so much!!!!

  • <3333

  • you do this move at the beginning where you bring the hoop up and down your body with both hands. How do you do that? It doesn't seem super difficult but I never learned it.

  • I've hear some people call it the "beam me up"

It's definitively on the to do list. Maybe after next weeks infamous VERTICAL STEP THROUGH! ; )
