I'd say life is meaningless nevertheless the sense of meaningless is only an emotion and yet an emotion is only a chemical therefore in a sense of it controlling your world in truth it means absolutely nothing, its just an illusion and we can choose to be happy, to not care whether life has a meaning and to create a sense of meaning in what we do because even if it is an illusion, we can choose to be happy knowing we are creating positive felt illusions for other people across the world :)
@9:19 Comparing mainstream contemporary Atheism to the state-enforced atheism of Stalin is absurd. This is about rational discussion, not police brutality or terror. Hitler told people to stop smoking, but that doesn't mean I'm spreading bad ideas by telling people not to smoke. Note Gray's long passive sentence at 9:35. That guy can't bring himself to say by whom these attempts are made because that would make his stupidity obvious.
Dawkins is guilty of his own accusations. When allowed or conducting hiw own 'show,' he is disgustingly snide, and plain obnoxious. I know a few atheists even, that would want to smack him in the mouth, just for being so putrid.
@GluttonForSex I don't know what your meaning of "sky daddy" is. If it is your way of being snide and obnoxious against God as a creator then I don't know what to say...what a sport you are? Should I stroke your back and assist your ego? What was your motive? You seem a glutton for punishment.
Ahteism is a religion. Of course, you will severely disagree with this. Maybe you are a literal spiritual 'bastard' who has never known your creator and consequently believe he is nonexistent, practicing a life of ignoring God - complete with faith and actual effort in sustaining your belief. This is why atheism is a religion.
Also, my glutton for punishment comment was too tongue in cheek as is my YT ID. You might underestimate things.
@9b8 Of course I disagree. There's no point to agree to something that is plain wrong just because a few hallucinating people tell you otherwise. In fact, that's the very reason atheism came into being in the first place!
God was created by humans, my friend. Not the other way around. Religion was our first and our worst attempt at finding answers. It is our worst precisely because it was the first. But things tend to improve (evolve!) over time. And nowadays, we got the scientific method.
@GluttonForSex Wrong? Prove that it [God exists and is real] is wrong, my friend. Yes, I know, there is no point in it. You have your beliefs. Others have theirs. Newtonian physics was an attempt to make sense of the world. It arguably failed as much as it did succeed, as we now (and only now) see. School text books are now being rewritten because of it. The scientific method (and science as a whole) is merely one (not THE) system of profound knowledge. Danger! Arrogance!
@GluttonForSex "In fact, that's the very reason atheism came into being in the first place!"
You just proved my premise and demised your own! How incredible! This is a very typical short-sighted, low resolution state of being for many atheists. Most incredible of all is your lack of awareness that you actually contradict your rabid belief system! And I don't mean just little contradictions, I mean very fundamental ones! WOW!
@GluttonForSex Wonder why? Maybe you have a horrible time grasping philsophical thought. I'm not going to spoon feed you. But I'll load the spoon: "Atheism came into being..." to rebel other religion and aspire to rebuke it, albeit unsuccessfully. Consequently, atheism attained religious qualities weaved into what you call the scientific method. This is arguably and horribly unfair to the REAL purpose of a scientific methodology: to DISCOVER truth rather than presume it. :-):-)
@9b8 Hahah, you're too clever to be a random nutjob. Templeton Foundation/Discovery Institute employee?
Twist and turn all you like, but the magical sky daddy hypothesis is a theory like any other, and no theory is above criticism & scrutiny. Now, you've tried to miscast atheism as the dogmatic approach and religion as a victimized open-minded one. Yet, by your own admission, atheism acquired its militant streak from... the religious!
So whose mentality is the source of the problem? :-)
"So whose mentality is the source of the problem?"
It isn't about mentality but spirituality. A fundamental flaw in atheism is that is lacks spiritual awareness. Atheists claim spirituality is a matter of semantics, naively. At LEAST the majority of the world religions have knowledge of and thus acknowledge spirit. Atheism is attractive today because of its 'no strings attached' unpublished doctrine; it is incredibly deceptive.
@9b8 Well, history is full examples of the mentality which flows from these vague notions of "spiritual awareness". Fanaticism, homophobia, racism, segregation, violence, murder, genocide, persecution, stoning, suicide bombings, genital mutilation... This list just goes on and on.
In the face of the profound immorality & deprevation that religion consistently gives rise to in humans, it's clear that is a highly dangerous mentality which needs close watching--especially in the nuclear age.
@GluttonForSex While I don't share your "vague" view of spiritual awareness, I do agree entirely about the horrible things humanity is capable of. Atheism is not devoid of those evils. In fact, the consequences are much more deceptive and can sneak up on an entire system of society, and has happened in history, even happening right now. So while we have mutual disgareements, there is an interesting modulus so to speak, and that is "truth." We both agree in what is right and true.
Amen! I'm a Christian and used to think RD was just trying to frustrate religion and believers, but I'm glad to hear he gives us a 1% chance here and encourage everyone to think for themselves and seek the absolute truth of the universe. Personally I have had so many doubts throught the years at times, but the LORD just keeps revealing his magnificence to me through so many different facets of life and experience that I just can't play ignorant to his existence for a single day! Praise God!
Dead-to-the-spirit deluded "God Delusion" author & blithering fool scientist goon Richard Dawkins another "leader" given 2 the profane masses is another useful idiot 4 Jesuit machinations
Jesuitical; pertaining to the Jesuits or their principals; designing; cunning; deceitful; prevaricating
The Jesuit Order completely altered the education system 2 suit their Evo-Hoax Agenda to discredit the Bible
Papal Rome cant have their Counter Reformation 2nd Dark Age DESPOTISM until Bible is destroyed
Please visit my channel for the unpopular truth about homosexuality.
A person does not need hatred or any kind of phobia in order to acknowledge important differences between heterosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption and homosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption. Even non-religious people know this.
Homosexual activists, with support from the media, have succeeded at framing themselves as noble victims; it's an effective way to push a social agenda.
Good people do good things, bad people do bad things, but it takes religion to make good people do bad things.
The main problem is: first make sure that all humanity has enough to eat, a place to live, health care etc. When people are deprived of these things, it's easy to understand how,& why they turn to God. Dawkins is a highly educated man from a privileged background. For ordinary people to grasp his science, is not easy. I know that from my own experience.
@glendaweil your tolerance and articulation is astounding. I'm sure that's exactly what preachers sounds like in church. You're very Jesus like in your absurdity.
If you are sick of religious privilege/nonsense in the UK, consider joining the National Secular Society and/or British Humanist Association (of which Mr Dawkins is Vice President), who both do great work in reducing the impact of religion on public life.
Another athiest idiot shure he cares about children yea leave the children alone and let them grow up believing nothing do not teach them about the 10 commandments yea that is soooooo baaaad yea right Richard.
Not all of the 10 commandments are good. A child should not be told that they have to believe in a specific god. Also, the 10 commandments didn't originate in christianity. They were taken from a larger list based on an Egyptian religion. You seem to be one that thinks indoctrinating children is a good thing. Grow up, that is wrong.
@glendaweil u mad bro? Hmmm I believe abusing children is a bad thing and that makes me an idiot? Wow solid logic from a good christian...
Read a book. I was a christian like I assume you are for a long time and I was actually on the verge of becoming a pastor until I decided to do some research and it turns out that there is no evidence that a god could/does exist. I will grant you every point about us for the sake of argument. Everything science has taught us is wrong...now, prove your god...
@glendaweil Are you saying you believe in a talking snake, naohs ark, and the earth is only 6000 years old? As in the Buy Bull?? Dr. Dawkins is brilliant.
@MrJohnnyrace Dawkins is brilliant at what he does putting down religion and he has that english accent which makes him sound smart but he is just another athiest idiot. And yes I believe the Bible so what millions of people believe it I do not apoligize for my belief. Once again we did not come from apes no way no how.
@glendaweil If you believe those fables, I feel sorry for you. You should be forced to attend Science classes at the University. Snakes dont talk. There was no global flood as in Noahs Ark and so on. And the Earth is 4.5 billion years old. What is wrong with you??
@MrJohnnyrace Sounds very remeniscent of oh yea chinese communist retraining centers are you r eally that stupid you must be a product of one of these retraining centers you cal univesities the home of some of the most left wing thinkers on the planet yea good place to go for reeducation. What is wrong with you?????
@M0rdH0rst So your just another in a long line of idiotic athiest darwinist handicapped fools and you don't have religion to blame for your stupidity so it must come naturaly to you.
@M0rdH0rst I suppose you man bronze age since there is no such thing as bronce age yet your the smart one RIGHT. I have every right to comment on anything I feel like afterall free speech is not always smart speech as evidenced by the movie itself like I said micro or adaptation after creation yes macro no way no how no proof.
@glendaweil Well I'm from Germany, sometimes I dont get the words right.
So what's the point of insulting all people that do not comply to your position?
I say (convinced): "There is a lot of evidence for evolution. Genetics support it, the fossiles support it. Even regarding other animals you can see the relation between them."
Why am I an idiot?
And as you believe in that old book, you think that your god is watching you right now. What will he think of you, insulting other people?
@M0rdH0rst I believe micro evolution or adaptation. You must have a comprhension problem as well Micro yes macro no what the hell is so hard to understand about that, I don't know why you are an athiest idiot I am no pshycologist.
@M0rdH0rst What? that makes no sense I call you an evotard with no brain and you reply first sign of understanding a good sign . And I have come to the right conclusion micro or adaptation yes macro no way no how.
@glendaweil You are using a computer...a DIRECT result of a huge number of fields of science and mathematics. You have a home, a vehicle, processed food etc. All of which are a result of science. If you have beef with evolution, which has just as much evidence for it as the sciences that are responsible for the technologies you use, THEN STOP USING TECHNOLOGY YOU HYPOCRITE.
@Iridiumalchemist What a dumbass I disagree with macro evolution you silly twit not all of science that is the most ignorent rebutal I have ever heard, stop using the computer because science was used to create it , should I also stop taking medication and die because I diagree with macro evolution what an idiot. STOP BEING AN ATHEIST IDIOT.
@glendaweil you believe in magic and cloud dwellers. You are not of a sound mental state to understand truth and reason, go back to your bible and stew in stories from the dark ages .
@antoireland09 There is no magic in the bible only in macro evolution thats where you find magic you and all you atheist brothers can hold on to that rediculous theory all you want and by all means follow that idiot God hating Dawkins straight to hell for all I care. And you are one to comment on someones mental condition how long have you been out of the looney bin not long from what I been hearing.
@glendaweil You can teach children to be good and do good period. Not because a god will reward or punish you accordingly. Just because you do not infect your child's brain with the notion of a god does not "leave them alone" There are almost if not already nearly 7 Billion people on Earth that's hardly alone. The world and I do mean natural world and people can be beautiful and more elegant than ancient mythology.
Funny how you consider the notion of God an infection based solely on subjective feelings. What's wrong with teaching children about God? Absolutely nothing. Obviously, you didn't or don't like the notion, it didn't work for you, but you can't stop there. Everyone else can't like it either. It can't work for anyone else just because it didn't work for you. You find fault in religion, so everyone else must, too. All must embody your non-believe or be "infected".
@NoelBlueheart It's not a matter of it "working" for some or not "working" for others, its about the truth. There is not and never has been evidence of a higher power. It was only the lack of evidence that lead to it. I believe we are at a period of human history where we do not need religion. It does no good that could not be obtained through purely secular means. It does however cause people to live their lives in a way that is not in conjunction with reality. And that can be dangerous.
@snowbeast2005 Truth is subjective. Because something was true for you as a child or an adult regarding religion doesn't mean that it's true for everyone else. You don't have the right or the authority to speak for someone's personal experiences and demand that it has to be for them the same way it was for you. Neither are you the authority of the universe and what is reality and what isn't.
Only the intellectually weak confuse their subjective opinions for facts.
@NoelBlueheart Truth is not subjective... so right away I can tell you're ignorant . That is Critical thinking/ Philosophy 101 you can take at any college. Whether there is a god or NOT is not dependent on anyone's opinions THEREFORE it is not subjective. And being an atheist has nothing to do with demanding everyone else believe anything...I never said that? I said there is no evidence of a higher power. There is evidence and overwhelming that there is not. So i think it would make sense
Let me rephrase so you understand: what a person thinks is the truth is subjective. I'm sorry your such a whore for conflict that you missed the point entirely in favor of disagreeing. Whether there is a God or not is not dependent on your opinions, but YOUR VIEWS on whether there is a God or not is. I'm sorry your not intelligent enough to make that distinction between the two.
Now you're making claims without proof. What "overwhelming" evidence is there that there is no God? Prove it, cretin.
@NoelBlueheart Again you are making a HUGE common error in logic. You are "begging the question" and shifting the burden of proof. 2 very huge errors in logic. There is plenty of scientific evidence that there is no God. Read The God Delusion. It's the same kind of evidence we have that the tooth fairy is not real. Observation! There are no models of the universe in which god's presence is either required, productive, or useful.
I'm making a huge error in logic, and yet you're the imbecile who thinks that the idea of a "burden of proof" is one of logic and science. That concept originates from the legal system to protect the rights of the defendant to being innocent until proven guilty. It does *NOT* have anything to do with science or logistics. In fact, the only people who use are the ones who want to demand others for proof of their claims while providing none for their onw.
(cont.) If there is "plenty of scientific evidence" that there is no God, then surely you can just give me one shred? I'm not reading a biased, convoluted book about it. That is not an objective source. Prove to me how God's existence is impossible, as you claimed it was, or shut up already.
"There are no models of the universe in which god's presence is either required, productive, or useful."
Yes, because we as human know everything there is to know, right? Moron..
@NoelBlueheart Cont' .. Make sense that we chose what we believe based on evidence and what is in conjunction with the world as it is. I will opt out of further debate about the matter.
(cont.) There is no scientific evidence refuting or supporting God, so I know you're full of shit. What truly makes sense is rather than rule in favor of other, remain neutral until there is. After all, that's the scientific method. You cannot draw ANY final conclusions without any data on which to do that.
Dude, if killing is your problem, look at the 5 wars the US and Nato have started in the last decade. Entirely atheistic... Or are you just trying to drive home a (perhaps cheap?) point?
@hewhosits He did, but it was a front. He is about as religous as Mao. And Obama is continuing all the Bush policies, expanding all the wars and starting new ones, torture, police state decrees. It has nothing to do with religion, its just imperialism, backed by finance and corporations. Thats the point these "religion is responsible for all evils"-people always miss. Adress the real problems
@OriginellerUserName I accept your point that Bush's religious motivations were quite probably a political ploy to garner support from the strong religious lobbies in America. My main point is that you are confusing atheism with secularism. It's probably reasonable to argue the wars of recent decades were secular (though the Taliban may care to differ) but it is unreasonable to claim they were atheist wars. No atheist agendas were being advanced, they just didn't have an overt religious cause.
@hewhosits Sure. I didn't mean to point out some atheistic agenda, I know atheism has no agenda per se. Semantics. My main problem is his view that religion is somehow the worst thing on earth. He cries about religous fundamentalism, but remains silent about all the wars, because they are not fought "in the name of" atheism. People in government often suck, regardless of their religous bent. So move on, Richard
@hewhosits And Im not trying to frame atheism as the culprit, im an atheist myself. What I'm saying is, you're beating a dead horse, religion is not the problem
Eugenicist and plagiarist Charles Darwin preached elitism, in that those who rise to the top economically, are there due to superior intellect. Darwin's commandment concerning the strong destroying the weak demands that society's elite class thin the herd within the lower classes of those who are infirmed, aged and sick through sterilization, abortion, contraceptives, poisoned inoculations, war, pestilence and willful neglect.
When I think of all those young people who struggle with their sexuality, who are told that homosexuality is a sin, worthy of being tortured for all eternity, I'm glad there are people like Dawkins in the world who offer them a life buoy.
hes an athiest, but he is 99% sure god isnt real. and he uses the word religeous people alot, but he doesnt realise his religeon is to try and destroy the peoples choice and beleif in god? macro-evolution is still a fairy-tale. we can learn from both faith and science, itd make us stronger and smarter, but instead people use science in the wrong way, to try diss-prove god, create war weapons, biological dieseases. and how many so called medical brekthroughs have cum back to haunt us?
@12345tou I haven't written my point of view here. You don't even know what I think about all of this and yet you say "likewise". That is exactly why I said what I said to you, because it seemed to me (and possibly others) you don't have an in depth understanding about things he's talking about and yet you place judgment. You just confirmed that, like I thought you would.
@markomanius settle down you dont know me either and that was sarcasim. i just said likewise because u were talking down to me implying you know better, and you dont know anything about me so you are the judgemental one for assuming i dont know. you obviously dont understand my original comment judging by your first reply.
@12345tou I don't know you, but you stated your point of view and I commented on that. So I'd say you are the one not knowing about me. But I didn't respond to your comment to "put you down", you've done that already to your self, I've said it in order to point on your view from which you commented this video and judged not just him but the "humanity". I don't think I can beat you on that, I could not ever be so judgemental as you are/was. And that is precisely why you are narrow minded.
@markomanius lol, sweet as. 1 comment i make gives you enough information to call me narrow minded. why dont you try to get to know me and try help me? or do you enjoy letting people know what you think of them? lol. not that i care what you say because you dont even know me enough to pass any judgement, let alone any man.
@12345tou This may surprise you, but when I said "I hope you'll see more one day" I meant it sincerely. You may think I said it because I think I'm a "smart ass" or that I judge you, but I bet you didn't think at no point that perhaps you said something in a wrong way. But hey, although I believe your point of view is.... subjective, I don't think you are a bad person. And I don't think I'm better than you, just perhaps in peace with certain facts and maybe, just maybe more open minded. Cheers.
@markomanius thank you for your concern :) but im actually pretty open minded, which will lead me to new things as time goes on. i actually have a love for science, but like in everything there is bad things/people that make bad decissions etc which makes me question certain things. sorry to be a bit cheeky towards you but the only responses you typically get on youtube are negative ones, sorry for assuming you were being a biggot.
death is something to fear not life after death. you should look up death in a dictionary if youre worried something comes after it. look at what you know not what you believe. you know things like your name, your birthday, the color of your eyes, not if anything about what happens after death thats a belief.
"Kindly inform us how science benefits humanity." Wow... just wow... if someone actually asked that question in a non-sarcastic manner, he/she should not be in any position of governance or meaningful decision-making.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
AND TO THOSE THAT SAY IF YOU WERE BORN IN CHINA WOULD YOU NO GOD . OR IF YOU WAS BORN IN KOREA . WOULD YOU BE A CRISTIAN . OR IF YOU WAS BORN IN AFRICA WOULD YOU SAY THE NAME GOD . OR WOULD YOU HAVE ANOTHER god ! AND THIS IS WHY I LIKE THE GOD OF THE BIBLE . BECAUSE HE IS NOT A CULTURE GOD . HE IS A GOD OF ALL MEN . IF YOUR FROM CHINA , AFRICA , BRAZIL, CUBA , FRANCE, THE UNITED STATES ! HE IS A GOD TO ALL MEN . THAT IS WHY I THINK THAT GOD IS THE RIGHT CHOICE
sounds like some one is talking to the devil ! the devil has you and all of you atheist fooled . and i see he has blessed your mouth with dirty insults . you are the devils workers . how dare you go to war with God . it would better if you were never born ! what will you do oh man of the earth when the fire rains from the sky . and you see the face of the creator of heaven and earth . as you see the power of man trimble from the power . and might of the almighty God !
"The numbers of scientists who question Darwinism is growing fast,"said Stephen Meyer, Cambridge-educated philosopher of science & Director, of C.R.S.C."This is happening in the face of fierce attempts to intimidate & suppress legitimate dissent. Young scientists are threatened with deprivation of tenure. They attempt to stigmatize all critics as "Religeous". Others have seen a consistent pattern of answering scientific arguments with ad hominem attacks.
@astudyofeverything Ah, you might not understand what QED stands for. You have simply made a statement of opinion. You have QED'd nothing. Hopefully you are not too dense to understand this. Leave pseudo intellectualism to the Dawkins of the world, they are a bit (not much) better at it.
@mozo73 It was tongue in cheek. I understand full well what QED means. The fact that education scales inversely with religious belief is NOT opinion. Survey after survey shows this.
why do most arguments from atheists come from looking at religion? It's man made so obviously it will be flawed. This does nothing to disprove the idea of a creator. Takes a lot more faith to believe the complexities of this world came from nothing.
@stromstad03 His problem is with religion not a percieved diety, if there is a diety, then by definition it has no interest in us so it matters not what we think of it. On the other hand man made religions are harmful and as such he has no time for them, for that matter neither do I.
@stromstad03 We know how the Earth formed (as well as the solar system). Also, you might want to think about what you said("...faith that 'something can come from nothing"). If you're going to make the claim that it's preposterous to state that something can come from nothing, believing that there must have been a first cause, or creator, you must hold that same logic to the creator itself. To do otherwise, is to commit the same logical fallacy that all religious people make: 'Special Pleading'.
People who participate in debates now how to think logically, they know how you dont present arguments that have nothing to back them up. So why do they forget all this stuff when they walk in to the house of lies every sunday!
I was baptized Lutheran, my parents never really enforced religion on me at all, we never went to church, when I was younger I guess I kind of believed in god. I have to say about a year and a half ago (17 years old) is when I "became" atheist, i dont know but something just clicked and I could see how obviously stupid religion is. I really just can not understand how any logically thinking person can believe this.
Ilya Prigogine, chemist-physicist, recipient of two Nobel Prizes in chemistry, wrote: “The statistical probability that organic structures and the most precisely harmonized reactions that typify living organisms would be generated by accident, is zero.”(1) That’s right - zero!
What I see is a man of great talent, morals and understanding of how a society should live.... people don't see that if God exists he would NOT be condemning him or anyone else because God is all love and forgives I dare say even people like Hitler... but because the human mind cannot understand anything like infinite love then it is impossible to understand God.
its pretty disappointing for dawkins to say he is a 6. If anyone admits to being a 7 on his scale, it should be him. What does he beleive the odds are that there are a god? 1 in 10-20 million? that seems to be 99.99999999999999% not just 99%. I am nowhere near as intelligent as him, but even i can see that there is 100% no god. At least not a god that we here on earth understand or worship... Own it Dawkins. Your an atheist. So am I. Dont surecoat it. No god knows or loves mankind.
@hellboundkidd "its pretty disappointing for dawkins to say he is a 6. If anyone admits to being a 7 on his scale, it should be him....I am nowhere near as intelligent as him, but even i can see that there is 100% no god...Dont surecoat it. No god knows or loves mankind."
- probabilities regarding things that cannot be proven nor disproven are by definition inapplicable, hence no one can be a 7, this is why RD makes the point about 7 or 1 being nonsensical.
Religions count on people NOT THINKING FOR THEMSELVES...they thrive on that concept...religion also blocks advances in almost every human endeavor concerning research, science or anything that advances the human condition.
What Dawkins is doing is illegal. He is trying to stop freedom of religion. Im not going to try to tell anyone not to be an atheist. Its their life, they can choose any religion they want. Dawkins needs to mind his own buisness.
@YeshuaisYahweh1 no, he's protecting children from brainwashing. To raise a child with a book so full of hate and violence as the Bible or Quaraan you may as well raise them Nazi or give them drugs. Theism is the true tyranny, atheism is the true salvation.
@Al1981X Im going to ignore the stupidity of what you said. But every parent should introduce lots of religions to their kids, and let them pick. Its not fair to force a kid into atheism.
@YeshuaisYahweh1 it is their kid they will teach it how they want it to be. some people teach their children to be hard working and some spoil the hell out of them. some teach to respect otheres and some don't. if they want their child to follow jesus's teachings that is completely 'fair'
That's ignorance at best. What you do is deprive children of information. Information is, by definition, the best weapon against religious dogma. YiY is right in that it's best to introduce many religions to the child - see how equally silly they are. If you don't, the kid will be unprepared for the intellectual assaults that it will invariably become to endure from aggressive theists.
@YeshuaisYahweh1 Minding their own business is exactly what religion fails at, which is why people like Dawkins have to do what they do. As long as you want to teach creationism in schools, disrupt science and indoctrinate children into being submissive, bigoted nonthinkers, the rest of us will fight you every step of the way. To think, science would've been hundreds if not thousands of years more advanced today if it weren't for people like you.
Imagine for one moment there are many gods, all of these gods can create universes and set them up as they like.
You as one of these hypothetical gods look over to your fellow gods universe, you see him set his universe up exactly like the christian view of the universe. Where the rejection of him is punishable with an eternity of pain and fire. He then drops these "souls" into a Hell he created for them.
What, as one of these many gods do you think of that god, playing with his universe?
I'm sick and tired of stupidity. Of all kinds of stupidity. Especially these religious homophobes christians. I'm loosing my friends to that homophobia. A lot of people in my town in Argentina think I'm gay just because I'm not a homophobe and because I don't have a girlfriend, and because although it's important for me to be a man in bed, it is even more important to me to be a man in life.
@necolas87 But they don't even ask me if I'm gay. so I can't answer a question that's never been asked. People just draw their own conclusions. It's "quite" frustrating, I'm not even homosexual and I'm being affected by homophobia, stupidity, lack of common sense. Sick and tired.
How ironic. You're going through some kind of misdirected homophobia, which, I assume, stems from their self-image as champions of morality.
And why you? Because you choose to go the way of the gentleman and not get in the sack with any vagina you can get your hands on - which is... wait for it... the moral thing to do!

@9b8 Heheh. The reason for ridiculing the magical sky daddy (and your delusional fantasies about the magical sky daddy) is pretty straightforward:
Religion is not a victim.
Also, my YouTube name is tongue-in-cheek. But I don't expect you to see passed the surface of things. :-)
GluttonForSex 1 month ago
@GluttonForSex "Religion is not a victim."
9b8 1 month ago
@9b8 Of course I disagree. There's no point to agree to something that is plain wrong just because a few hallucinating people tell you otherwise. In fact, that's the very reason atheism came into being in the first place!
God was created by humans, my friend. Not the other way around. Religion was our first and our worst attempt at finding answers. It is our worst precisely because it was the first. But things tend to improve (evolve!) over time. And nowadays, we got the scientific method.
GluttonForSex 1 month ago
@GluttonForSex Wrong? Prove that it [God exists and is real] is wrong, my friend. Yes, I know, there is no point in it. You have your beliefs. Others have theirs. Newtonian physics was an attempt to make sense of the world. It arguably failed as much as it did succeed, as we now (and only now) see. School text books are now being rewritten because of it. The scientific method (and science as a whole) is merely one (not THE) system of profound knowledge. Danger! Arrogance!
9b8 1 month ago
@GluttonForSex "In fact, that's the very reason atheism came into being in the first place!"
You just proved my premise and demised your own! How incredible! This is a very typical short-sighted, low resolution state of being for many atheists. Most incredible of all is your lack of awareness that you actually contradict your rabid belief system! And I don't mean just little contradictions, I mean very fundamental ones! WOW!
9b8 1 month ago
@9b8 You remain a little vague on the specifics. I wonder why. :-)
GluttonForSex 1 month ago
@GluttonForSex Wonder why? Maybe you have a horrible time grasping philsophical thought. I'm not going to spoon feed you. But I'll load the spoon: "Atheism came into being..." to rebel other religion and aspire to rebuke it, albeit unsuccessfully. Consequently, atheism attained religious qualities weaved into what you call the scientific method. This is arguably and horribly unfair to the REAL purpose of a scientific methodology: to DISCOVER truth rather than presume it. :-):-)
9b8 1 month ago
@9b8 Hahah, you're too clever to be a random nutjob. Templeton Foundation/Discovery Institute employee?
Twist and turn all you like, but the magical sky daddy hypothesis is a theory like any other, and no theory is above criticism & scrutiny. Now, you've tried to miscast atheism as the dogmatic approach and religion as a victimized open-minded one. Yet, by your own admission, atheism acquired its militant streak from... the religious!
So whose mentality is the source of the problem? :-)
GluttonForSex 1 month ago
@GluttonForSex Militant? I never claimed that!
9b8 1 month ago
@9b8 Well, history is full examples of the mentality which flows from these vague notions of "spiritual awareness". Fanaticism, homophobia, racism, segregation, violence, murder, genocide, persecution, stoning, suicide bombings, genital mutilation... This list just goes on and on.
In the face of the profound immorality & deprevation that religion consistently gives rise to in humans, it's clear that is a highly dangerous mentality which needs close watching--especially in the nuclear age.
GluttonForSex 1 month ago 2

@glendaweil first it is spelled "sure"
Not all of the 10 commandments are good. A child should not be told that they have to believe in a specific god. Also, the 10 commandments didn't originate in christianity. They were taken from a larger list based on an Egyptian religion. You seem to be one that thinks indoctrinating children is a good thing. Grow up, that is wrong.

The new Atheism form of bigotry.
NoelBlueheart 4 months ago
@NoelBlueheart It's not a matter of it "working" for some or not "working" for others, its about the truth. There is not and never has been evidence of a higher power. It was only the lack of evidence that lead to it. I believe we are at a period of human history where we do not need religion. It does no good that could not be obtained through purely secular means. It does however cause people to live their lives in a way that is not in conjunction with reality. And that can be dangerous.
snowbeast2005 4 months ago
@snowbeast2005 Truth is subjective. Because something was true for you as a child or an adult regarding religion doesn't mean that it's true for everyone else. You don't have the right or the authority to speak for someone's personal experiences and demand that it has to be for them the same way it was for you. Neither are you the authority of the universe and what is reality and what isn't.
Only the intellectually weak confuse their subjective opinions for facts.
NoelBlueheart 4 months ago
@NoelBlueheart Truth is not subjective... so right away I can tell you're ignorant . That is Critical thinking/ Philosophy 101 you can take at any college. Whether there is a god or NOT is not dependent on anyone's opinions THEREFORE it is not subjective. And being an atheist has nothing to do with demanding everyone else believe anything...I never said that? I said there is no evidence of a higher power. There is evidence and overwhelming that there is not. So i think it would make sense
snowbeast2005 4 months ago
Let me rephrase so you understand: what a person thinks is the truth is subjective. I'm sorry your such a whore for conflict that you missed the point entirely in favor of disagreeing. Whether there is a God or not is not dependent on your opinions, but YOUR VIEWS on whether there is a God or not is. I'm sorry your not intelligent enough to make that distinction between the two.
Now you're making claims without proof. What "overwhelming" evidence is there that there is no God? Prove it, cretin.
NoelBlueheart 4 months ago
@NoelBlueheart Again you are making a HUGE common error in logic. You are "begging the question" and shifting the burden of proof. 2 very huge errors in logic. There is plenty of scientific evidence that there is no God. Read The God Delusion. It's the same kind of evidence we have that the tooth fairy is not real. Observation! There are no models of the universe in which god's presence is either required, productive, or useful.
snowbeast2005 4 months ago
I'm making a huge error in logic, and yet you're the imbecile who thinks that the idea of a "burden of proof" is one of logic and science. That concept originates from the legal system to protect the rights of the defendant to being innocent until proven guilty. It does *NOT* have anything to do with science or logistics. In fact, the only people who use are the ones who want to demand others for proof of their claims while providing none for their onw.
NoelBlueheart 4 months ago
(cont.) If there is "plenty of scientific evidence" that there is no God, then surely you can just give me one shred? I'm not reading a biased, convoluted book about it. That is not an objective source. Prove to me how God's existence is impossible, as you claimed it was, or shut up already.
"There are no models of the universe in which god's presence is either required, productive, or useful."
Yes, because we as human know everything there is to know, right? Moron..
NoelBlueheart 4 months ago
@NoelBlueheart Cont' .. Make sense that we chose what we believe based on evidence and what is in conjunction with the world as it is. I will opt out of further debate about the matter.
snowbeast2005 4 months ago
(cont.) There is no scientific evidence refuting or supporting God, so I know you're full of shit. What truly makes sense is rather than rule in favor of other, remain neutral until there is. After all, that's the scientific method. You cannot draw ANY final conclusions without any data on which to do that.

(Are you into conspiracy theories ???, NWO, Illuminati, Bilderberger etc ???)
Kokainuser 6 months ago
@OriginellerUserName I accept your point that Bush's religious motivations were quite probably a political ploy to garner support from the strong religious lobbies in America. My main point is that you are confusing atheism with secularism. It's probably reasonable to argue the wars of recent decades were secular (though the Taliban may care to differ) but it is unreasonable to claim they were atheist wars. No atheist agendas were being advanced, they just didn't have an overt religious cause.
hewhosits 6 months ago
@hewhosits Sure. I didn't mean to point out some atheistic agenda, I know atheism has no agenda per se. Semantics. My main problem is his view that religion is somehow the worst thing on earth. He cries about religous fundamentalism, but remains silent about all the wars, because they are not fought "in the name of" atheism. People in government often suck, regardless of their religous bent. So move on, Richard
OriginellerUserName 6 months ago

Ones education scales inversely with ones religious belief. QED.
astudyofeverything 9 months ago
@astudyofeverything Ah, you might not understand what QED stands for. You have simply made a statement of opinion. You have QED'd nothing. Hopefully you are not too dense to understand this. Leave pseudo intellectualism to the Dawkins of the world, they are a bit (not much) better at it.
mozo73 9 months ago
@mozo73 It was tongue in cheek. I understand full well what QED means. The fact that education scales inversely with religious belief is NOT opinion. Survey after survey shows this.

Kindly inform us how science benefits society. HAHAHA who was the FOOL who wrote that question. Wow............
OhManTFE 10 months ago
why do most arguments from atheists come from looking at religion? It's man made so obviously it will be flawed. This does nothing to disprove the idea of a creator. Takes a lot more faith to believe the complexities of this world came from nothing.
stromstad03 10 months ago
@stromstad03 His problem is with religion not a percieved diety, if there is a diety, then by definition it has no interest in us so it matters not what we think of it. On the other hand man made religions are harmful and as such he has no time for them, for that matter neither do I.
trapfish 10 months ago
@stromstad03 We know how the Earth formed (as well as the solar system). Also, you might want to think about what you said("...faith that 'something can come from nothing"). If you're going to make the claim that it's preposterous to state that something can come from nothing, believing that there must have been a first cause, or creator, you must hold that same logic to the creator itself. To do otherwise, is to commit the same logical fallacy that all religious people make: 'Special Pleading'.

Darwins the fucking man, natural selection is one of the most amazing theories ever and I have no idea how he ever thought of that, genius

@MrSwedenik The idea of evolution significantly predates Darwin
Mik5OO 5 months ago
People who participate in debates now how to think logically, they know how you dont present arguments that have nothing to back them up. So why do they forget all this stuff when they walk in to the house of lies every sunday!
MrSwedenik 10 months ago

- probabilities regarding things that cannot be proven nor disproven are by definition inapplicable, hence no one can be a 7, this is why RD makes the point about 7 or 1 being nonsensical.
Its 'sugarcoat' as well.

Religion must die.
Uteko95 1 year ago
Religions count on people NOT THINKING FOR THEMSELVES...they thrive on that concept...religion also blocks advances in almost every human endeavor concerning research, science or anything that advances the human condition.

What Dawkins is doing is illegal. He is trying to stop freedom of religion. Im not going to try to tell anyone not to be an atheist. Its their life, they can choose any religion they want. Dawkins needs to mind his own buisness.
YeshuaisYahweh1 1 year ago
@YeshuaisYahweh1 no, he's protecting children from brainwashing. To raise a child with a book so full of hate and violence as the Bible or Quaraan you may as well raise them Nazi or give them drugs. Theism is the true tyranny, atheism is the true salvation.
Al1981X 1 year ago
@Al1981X Im going to ignore the stupidity of what you said. But every parent should introduce lots of religions to their kids, and let them pick. Its not fair to force a kid into atheism.
YeshuaisYahweh1 1 year ago
@YeshuaisYahweh1 it is their kid they will teach it how they want it to be. some people teach their children to be hard working and some spoil the hell out of them. some teach to respect otheres and some don't. if they want their child to follow jesus's teachings that is completely 'fair'
Trouterr 1 year ago
@Trouterr What are you trying to say?
YeshuaisYahweh1 1 year ago
@Al1981X
That's ignorance at best. What you do is deprive children of information. Information is, by definition, the best weapon against religious dogma. YiY is right in that it's best to introduce many religions to the child - see how equally silly they are. If you don't, the kid will be unprepared for the intellectual assaults that it will invariably become to endure from aggressive theists.
laflugantabastardo 1 year ago
@YeshuaisYahweh1 Minding their own business is exactly what religion fails at, which is why people like Dawkins have to do what they do. As long as you want to teach creationism in schools, disrupt science and indoctrinate children into being submissive, bigoted nonthinkers, the rest of us will fight you every step of the way. To think, science would've been hundreds if not thousands of years more advanced today if it weren't for people like you.
Rajban84 1 year ago
@Rajban84 Religion has at times in fact facilitated scientific advancement as well as hampering it.

A lot of people in my town in Argentina think I'm gay just because I'm not a homophobe and because I don't have a girlfriend, and because although it's important for me to be a man in bed, it is even more important to me to be a man in life.
necolas87 1 year ago
@necolas87 But they don't even ask me if I'm gay. so I can't answer a question that's never been asked. People just draw their own conclusions. It's "quite" frustrating, I'm not even homosexual and I'm being affected by homophobia, stupidity, lack of common sense. Sick and tired.
necolas87 1 year ago
@necolas87
How ironic. You're going through some kind of misdirected homophobia, which, I assume, stems from their self-image as champions of morality.
And why you? Because you choose to go the way of the gentleman and not get in the sack with any vagina you can get your hands on - which is... wait for it... the moral thing to do!
Damned if you do, damned if you don't, eh?
